Disney Plus and Hulu Are Both Getting Price Hikes

by Kat Bailey
Daniel Whitehill

This sucks. All these platforms raising prices.

Disney+ and Hulu will both be receiving price hikes in both their ad-supported and premium tiers, Disney announced today.

The price hike is timed with the impending release of Disney+'s ad-supported tier, which will cost $7.99. The ad-free version, meanwhile, will rise to $10.99 — an increase of $3 per month.

As for Hulu, it will jump $2 per month, rising from $12.99 to $14.99 on October 10. Meanwhile, the ad-supported verion will rise from $6.99 to $7.99.

The price hikes come amid strong subscriber increases for Disney+, which rose to 151 million subscriptions. However, those increases have been tempered by large losses. According to Disney's financials released today, Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ have combined to lose $1.1 billion.

The programming has also been quite successful. Disney+ has established itself with a slew of successful MCU and Star Wars shows, with Andor and She-Hulk just around the corner, while Hulu has found big success with Prey.

Disney+'s ad-supported tier launches December 8.

Behold The Visually Infuriating World Of The "TV Too High" Subreddit

Daniel Whitehill

OMFG. I've been saying this for YEARS and of course there is a sub-reddit. I blame flat TVs. For some reason humans first confused them with paintings and started hanging them too high and over fire places and it's NOT natural and not good for your neck. FINALLY, I am not alone! /end rant

The /r/TVTooHigh subreddit exploded in popularity this week after a Washington Post reporter posted a Twitter thread full of images from the subreddit, setting the internet ablaze as Twitter users pondered what would possess someone to mount their television so high up on the wall that it nearly touches the ceiling. Now the internet can't stop talking about the subreddit, which is filled with mildly infuriating images depicting some of the oddest television mounting choices known to man.

The images of these unusually positioned televisions are enough to make anyone's eye twitch (and make their neck hurt). Some of the subreddit's top posts include an image of a TV mounted to the top of a slanted bedroom wall, a television placed so high it's parallel to the second floor of the house, an image of a relative watching TV in his preferred TV-watching position, a photo of a technician installing a TV set above a doorway in a large foyer, and the pièce de résistance: an interior photo of a posh home in a wealthy neighborhood, with a television set mounted to the ceiling of the living room.

When faced with posts like these, subreddit members often jump to place blame on the technician who installed the television. After all, what kind of professional would mount a TV to the ceiling (or mere centimeters below it), especially knowing how much strain this positioning can put on the necks of customers who spend a lot of time in front of the television. While inexperience, negligence, or just plain laziness can certainly play a part in especially poor installation jobs, it turns out that more often than not, the customer is who dictates the placement of the TV set. While technicians can offer their opinion regarding the ideal spot for the television's placement, the customer is ultimately who decides what goes where--and they frequently disregard the advice given by experienced technicians.

Some BMW Car Features Can Only be Unlocked With Microtransactions

by Ryan Dinsdale
Daniel Whitehill

It's this kinda shit that would stop me from buying a BMW. That and they suck, but this is particularly shitty.

Heated seats are the latest microtransaction available in some high-end BMW cars, joining other features such as advanced cruise control and automatic beam switching as monthly subscriptions.

As reported by The Verge, BMW currently offers the feature in the UK, Germany, New Zealand, and South Africa for the equivalent of around $18 a month or $415 for lifetime access, available to purchase on its store.

If a customer's car has the option to buy heated seats or other add-ons then the components and functionality already exist within the vehicle, but BMW has a software block that prevent them from being used without paying.

Jake Groves shared his experience with the microtransactions on Twitter (above), saying that, as he was driving the BMW 530e, he pressed the high beam assist button only to be told that he first had to purchase this on the store, where it's priced at the equivalent of around $12 a month or $237 for unlimited access.

There are several other features available to purchase – some of which can only be bought outright for up to £750 (or $888) – like the alert that notifies the driver when they're nearing a speed camera, something which is often free if you use your phone as a satnav.

The full list includes: active cruise control with stop and go function, adaptive M suspension, Apple CarPlay preparation, the BMW drive recorder, the BMW safety camera information, Driving Assistant Plus, front seat heating, high beam assistant, IconicSounds Sport, the map update package, the online entertainment voucher, and steering wheel heating.

BMW's rival Tesla has introduced some wacky new features recently too, such as a karaoke mic for its cars and the ability to play games including The Witcher 3.

The Last Of Us PS5 Remake Leaks With September Release Date, PC Release Coming Later

Daniel Whitehill

This is such a bullshit cash grab it's crazy.

The Last of Us is making the jump to a third generation of PlayStation consoles and coming to PlayStation 5. The announcement comes after Twitter user Wario64 noticed a PlayStation store listing of the game earlier today, complete with accompanying trailer. According to the listing, the game is scheduled to release on September 2.

In the trailer that was surely meant to air during one this week's Not-E3 press conferences--most likely Summer Game Fest Live--it was revealed that the upcoming remake has been "built from the ground up for PlayStation 5." It was also revealed that, in addition to a PlayStation 5 release, The Last of Us is also coming to PC, though the release date was not included in the trailer. This continues PlayStation's ongoing trend of releasing some of its biggest exclusive titles on PC, allowing a wider audience to experience its narrative-rich titles.

Two editions of the game will be available to purchase: Standard edition ($60 USD) and Firefly edition ($100 USD). While what the difference is between these editions has yet to be revealed, both versions come with Left Behind, a DLC expansion that follows Ellie during the events leading up to The Last of Us as well as a brief period of time she is separated from Joel during the game.

The Next HDMI Revision Means Longer Ultra High-Speed Cables

Daniel Whitehill

Do you know how long I spent with the spiders under my house swapping out HDMI cables until i found out that the length was the issue?!?!?! Let's just say I'm very excited about this update. And yes, I am posting about about a new cable and I know that I am a nerd. No need to point it out.

The latest amendment to the HDMI 2.1a spec, which adds HDMI Cable Power, will let us use much longer cables, separating our gear from our screens (via FlatPanelsHD).

The more data you're pumping through a passive cable, the shorter that cable is going to need to be to preserve the data flowing through it. That's the case with HDMI 2.1a when compared to its much older cousin, HDMI 2.0. Older HDMI cables could go 30 feet or more while still retaining full bandwidth and connection quality, but HDMI 2.1a represents a huge jump in bandwidth and data needs compared to those older versions, and often maxes out at 10 feet, notes cable maker CableMatters.

That's where HDMI Cable Power comes in. To make HDMI 2.1a go further than that 10-foot stretch, you need an active--powered--HDMI cable. The HDMI cables behind most of our televisions are passive, and current active cables require a separate power source fed in through a third connector to achieve those longer lengths. HDMI Cable Power will provide power through the HDMI connector itself, instead of adding the extra complexity of a separate connector. HDMI CablePower cables will still, like active HDMI cables, be one-directional, meaning that there's a defined source and destination end rather than the two being interchangeable like they are with passive HDMI cables.

Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe Release Date Announced

by Casey David Muir-Taylor
Daniel Whitehill

Ha ha. OMG. I know I'm old, but totally can't wait to see this.

There’s good news for fans of the Beavis and Butt-Head series. The release date for the upcoming film, Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe, was revealed today alongside a new trailer.

Mike Judge's classic duo's return will premiere internationally on the streaming service Paramount+ on Thursday, June 23. It will be the iconic duo’s first appearance in over ten years.

Beavis and Butt-Head are dipping their toes into sci-fi and Judge says the new film could easily “sit atop all future lists of the Dumbest Science Fiction Movies Ever Made.”

The movie, voiced, produced, and directed by Mike Judge, will have the two not-so-bright characters working at a space camp as part of juvenile sentencing. There they excel and are asked to join the mission to space, but ruin the mission and are left for dead. They eventually make their way into a black hole and travel from 1998 to 2022 and meet an alternative version of themselves.

Besides the new film, the duo can be seen in all their glory as the full library of 200+ remastered episodes will be available exclusively on the service alongside South Park at a later time. A new Beavis and Butt-head series is also coming later this year.

Earlier this year, Mike Judge offered a glimpse at what the two might look like now, middle-age spread and all. It has yet to be confirmed if this glimpse into the future will be seen in either the new movie or series, but perhaps that will be the alternate version they meet.

An exclusive look at the new movie will debut at the 2022 MTV Movie & TV Awards, which air live Sunday, June 5, at 8PM, ET/PT.

Interceptor: Exclusive Trailer and Poster for New Netflix Action Movie

by Jim Vejvoda
Daniel Whitehill

This has to be the shittiest, most bullshit poster I have ever seen. High schoolers can do better

IGN can exclusively debut the new trailer and poster for Netflix’s upcoming action film Interceptor, starring Fast and Furious franchise veteran Elsa Pataky and exec produced by Thor’s Chris Hemsworth.

You can watch the Interceptor trailer via the player above or the embed below.

Pataky trained for nearly six months for her role as Captain JJ Collins, learning over 800 stunt moves. Pataky worked with Stunt Double Haley Wright and Stunt Coordinator Ingrid Kleinig to develop a fighting style that utilized speed and agility to overcome her male opponents since she has a different center of gravity than the men she squares off against.

Extraction director and MCU veteran Sam Hargrave served as the film’s Action Consultant.

Interceptor’s official plot synopsis says Pataky’s “tough and reality-bruised” Captain Collins “finds herself in charge of a lone nuclear missile interceptor base in the middle of the Pacific Ocean after she is wrongfully drummed out of her dream job at the Pentagon. When a simultaneous coordinated attack then threatens the base itself, Collins comes face-to-face with the charismatic yet crooked Alexander Kessel (Luke Bracey), a former US military intelligence officer intent on carrying out an unthinkable plan.

With only minutes on the clock, Collins must utilize her years of tactical training and military expertise to determine who she can trust and stop Kessel and his covert mercenaries from completing their twisted and terrible mission.”

Joining Pataky and Bracey in the cast are Aaron Glenane, Mayen Mehta, Rhys Muldoon, Belinda Jombwe, Marcus Johnson, Colin Friels, and Zoe Carides.

Interceptor marks the feature film directing debut of novelist Matthew Reilly – author of the Jack West Jr. series – who co-wrote the original screenplay with Stuart Beattie.

Beattie is also one of the film’s producers along with Michael Boughen and Matthew Street. In addition to Hemsworth (who is married to Pataky), the executive producers include Christopher Mapp, Robert Slaviero, Kathy Morgan, and Peter D. Graves.

And while Interceptor may be set in a remote US base, the film was shot in Australia with largely local talent in front of and behind the camera.

Interceptor debuts exclusively on Netflix on June 3.

Netflix Prepares for Password Sharing Crackdown After Losing 200,000 Subscribers

by Rebekah Valentine
Daniel Whitehill

THIS would suck

Update: On its earnings call today, Netflix CFO Spence Newman reassured investors that despite its projections for a 2 million subscriber drop next quarter, they should expect subscription growth to resume in the latter half of the year.

"I want to make sure there's not a read-through from negative two million paid net adds in Q2 that there's going to be a steady strip-down of negative adds," Newman said. "We're not expecting our revenue growth to reaccelerate before the end of the year, but we will grow revenue, and there will be paid net add growth. As we get to the back half of the year, Ted talked about the stronger slate, we get further away from some of the big price increases, we get into a stronger seasonal period, so I just want to make sure that's understood as you think about the full year even though we're not providing full-year guidance."

Earlier, Newman had noted that at least some of the subscriber decline was due not only to the suspension of service in Russia, but also to some "spillover effect" in other parts of the EMEAA region, especially in other Central and Eastern European countries.

Elsewhere on the call, Netflix leads provided other, additional context to some of the revelations in the Q1 earnings. Early in the call, co-CEO Reed Hastings addressed password sharing monetization by acknowledging that Netflix had been aware of password sharing for some time now, but that subscription and revenue growth had been so significant up to this point that it hadn't been an issue they were ready to address. Now, with acquisition and growth declines, Netflix feels it's time.

As for how that crackdown is going to work, Netflix still isn't giving full details, but COO Greg Peters suggested that Netflix would undergo "a year or so of iterating" before rolling out the changes globally.

Newman added that the result would see shared accounts with people outside of the household not count as separate subscriptions in Netflix's earnings reports, meaning that in the future, the company will focus more on revenue growth and viewing engagement than on subscriber numbers.

Original story:

After a massive surge of growth during pandemic-related lockdowns, Netflix is now being forced to acknowledge that it's running out of room to grow - and will need to resort to password-sharing crackdowns to keep the numbers going up.

Netflix reports that subscriptions were down 200,000 in total from last quarter, though that total comes with context. It technically lost a whopping 700,000 subscribers due to suspending its service in Russia over the country's attack on neighboring Ukraine. But Netflix gained 500,000 subscribers elsewhere during the period, bringing it to a 200,000 loss.

Still, even excluding Russia from the occasion and calling it a net 500,000 subscriber gain, that's still a massive drop compared to what Netflix had forecast for the quarter originally: a gain of 2.5 million that it didn't come anywhere near.

And it sounds like things aren't going to improve anytime soon, even without Netflix pulling out of politically-fraught markets. Netflix is currently forecasting another massive subscriber loss of 2 million for the upcoming quarter, compared to a 1.5 million gain at the same time last year. Q2 may be a slower quarter for streaming services, but it's not normally that slow.

In a letter to shareholders attached to its first-quarter earnings report, Netflix admitted that its revenue growth had "slowed considerably" despite the ongoing popularity of Netflix as a service. While it doesn't help, Netflix says that competition for streaming services continues to be steep between Hulu, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, and everything else, the big issue the company sees at play is the prevalence of account sharing between multiple households.

"However, our relatively high household penetration - when including the large number of households sharing accounts - combined with competition, is creating revenue growth headwinds," the letter reads. "The big COVID boost to streaming obscured the picture until recently. While we work to reaccelerate our revenue growth - through improvements to our service and more effective monetization of multi-household sharing - we’ll be holding our operating margin at around 20%."

In short, too many people already have Netflix for the service to continue to grow at the exponential rates it used to, and in order to go back to that level of growth, something has to be done about password sharing so it can make money off all the folks using the accounts of their friends and family members for free. Netflix estimates that alongside 222 million subscribed households, it also has an additional 100 million users who are sharing passwords with paying households.

"Early last year we started testing different approaches to monetize sharing and, in March, introduced two new paid sharing features, where current members have the choice to pay for additional households, in three markets in Latin America," the letter continues. "There’s a broad range of engagement when it comes to sharing households from high to occasional viewing. So while we won’t be able to monetize all of it right now, we believe it’s a large short- to mid-term opportunity."

Overall, Netflix revenues were up 10% year-over-year. It's still expecting another 10% year-over-year revenue increase next quarter, and for now appears committed to holding the business steady while it reimagines its business model around multi-household sharing to get growth back on track.

HBO Max Releases New Our Flag Means Death Trailer, Announces March 3 Debut

Daniel Whitehill

This looks pretty funny. It could go either way though. I love What We Do in the Shadows from that Waititi. Curious about this.

HBO has released a trailer for its upcoming 18th century period comedy Our Flag Means Death, all about swashbuckling in the high seas. The series will premiere on HBO Max on March 3, with Season 1 spanning 10 episodes.

The series is loosely based on true adventures of Stede Bonnet, a wealthy landowner who gave up fancy living in 1717 to try a life of piracy. Our Flag Means Death is created by David Jenkins, and executive produced by Thor Ragnarok and JoJo Rabbit director Taika Waititi, who will also act in the show and direct the pilot. Waititi plays Blackbeard--depicted as a rockstar of the era--who, after a fateful run-in with Rhys Darby's Bonnet, seems to slide into a mentorship role for the would-be salty dog. Check out the trailer below.

In addition to Darby and Waititi, the show's ensemble cast includes Nathan Foad, Samson Kayo, Vico Ortiz, Ewen Bremner, Joel Fry, Matt Maher, Kristian Nairn, Con O'Neill, Guz Khan, David Fane, Rory Kinnear, Samba Schutte, Nat Faxon, Fred Armisen, and Leslie Jones.

Foo Fighters Release Trailer For Horror Comedy Studio 666

Daniel Whitehill

OMG. I'm Really excited for this. It's so random and so fun!

Rock group The Foo Fighters have released the first official trailer from the band's upcoming horror comedy film, Studio 666. The movie is set to debut theatrically on February 25.

Based on the trailer, Studio 666 is everything we need to lighten up the heavy times we've all been going through lately. According to an official synopsis: "The Foo Fighters move into an Encino mansion steeped in grisly rock and roll history to record their much-anticipated 10th album. Once in the house, Dave Grohl finds himself grappling with supernatural forces that threaten both the completion of the album and the lives of the band." The film is, in a word, ridiculous. Check out the trailer and see for yourself.

Studio 666 comes from a story by Grohl, and the screenplay is co-written by Jeff Buhler (Pet Sematary, The Prodigy) and Rebecca Hughes (Cracking Up, Grounded for Life). The movie is directed by BJ McDonnell (Slayer: The Repentless Killogy). Non-Foo Fighter actors in the film include Will Forte (MacGruber), Jenna Ortega (Jane the Virgin), Leslie Grossman (American Horror Story), and Jeff Garlin (Curb Your Enthusiasm).

Scream Review Round-Up: What Critics Are Saying About The Return of Ghostface

Daniel Whitehill

Kinda good but split. Can't wait to watch!!!

The wait for the latest entry in the Scream franchise is nearly over, ending an 11-year gap since Scream 4 was released back in 2011. The fifth film, which is titled simply Scream rather than Scream 5, arrives in theaters on January 14.

Scream is written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick, and directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. The film's cast teams legacy cast members Neve Campbell (Sidney Prescott), Courteney Cox (Gale Weathers) with newcomers Jack Quaid (The Boys), Melissa Barrera (Vida, In the Heights), and Jenna Ortega (Insidious: Chapter 2, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous). The previous four movies were all directed by Wes Craven, who died in 2015. However, Kevin Williamson, who wrote all the other films, remains on board as executive producer of the new film.

As of this writing, the movie has 61 critics on Rotten Tomatoes giving an aggregate score of 80% fresh. On Metacritic, the film is currently has an aggregate score of 65 with 24 critics weighing in. These scores will likely shift after the film is out and as other outlets publish their takes, but based on the reviews we have now, it looks like if you're already inclined to watch the movie you will be in for a good time.

Netflix Shares First Look at New Texas Chainsaw Massacre

by Ryan Leston
Daniel Whitehill

Yes please!

Leatherface is back as the horror of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre continues with a new movie coming to Netflix on February 18, 2022.

Netflix has revealed a creepy first trailer for the upcoming movie, which just so happens to be a direct sequel to the 1974 horror film, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

“It's pretty hardcore,” director Fede Álvarez told Entertainment Weekly. “But at the same time, it has the simplicity of that first film. We wanted to come up with a very simple premise [with] a powerful domino effect. Everything is set up in the right place — all you have to do is push the first domino and everything will happen effortlessly.”

Texas Chainsaw Massacre stars Sarah Yarkin, Elsie Fisher, Nell Hudson, and Jacob Latimore as a group of friends who find themselves in unfamiliar territory. And much like the original movie, it has a lot to say about the city vs the country.

Sarah Yarkin plays Melody – a young millennial scouting for the next hot location. Unfortunately, she happens upon the wrong town.

“Me and my business partner Dante (played by Jacob Latimore) are these young hip people that come to this ghost town in Texas and try to get other people to come there and make it the next hip place to be,” said Yarkin. “Our fatal flaw is that we ignore the history that came before us.”

It’s essentially about gentrification – the young hipsters swooping in to turn a country town upside down. And in many ways, this draws parallels to the original movie.

"I think the first movie really hit a nerve when portraying that culture clash between the countryside and the city,” said Álvarez. “Back in the '70s, the hippies were representing the youth of the city. This time, they're more like millennial hipsters from Austin who are very entrepreneurial and have a dream of getting away from the city and back to the countryside. They're trying to gentrify small-town America — and let's just say they encounter some pushback.”

This comes in the form of Leatherface – the iconic chainsaw-swinging killer.

“It's basically the same character, who is still alive," said Álvarez. “Our take on it was this guy probably disappeared after everything he's done. You know, how do you catch a guy who has a mask? Once he removes the mask and runs away, it's very easy for him to hide somewhere.”

Set decades after the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the new film sees Leatherface emerge from hiding, taking on a new group of friends with his signature chainsaw.

Mark Burnham will star as Leatherface, taking over the iconic horror role from the late Gunnar Hansen.

“This story will pick it up many, many years after the original story. He's been in hiding for a long, long time, trying to be a good person,” he added. “These people arriving in this town are going to awaken the giant.”

Over the years, Leatherface has become a horror legend. But despite appearing in numerous films since the 1974 original, the upcoming movie glosses over some of the less well-received Texas Chainsaw sequels.

But it won’t erase them entirely.

“When I say, 'direct sequel' I wouldn't say it skips everything,” explained Álvarez. “When movies do that, sometimes it feels a bit disrespectful to all the other films. Some people love Texas Chainsaw 2. I love a lot of things about that movie — it's so wacky and of its time. But the rest is such a mess canon-wise. I think it's up to you to decide when and how the events of the other movies happen.”

Although Texas Chainsaw Massacre began development in 2020, Netflix only picked up the rights to the upcoming sequel a couple of months ago.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre will debut on Netflix on February 18, 2022.

What We Do In The Shadows Renewed For Season 4

Daniel Whitehill

This really is a funny show. The first episode or two I wasn't sure. But then the characters grow on you and it's so silly. Check it out if you guys don't watch it for sure!

What We Do in the Shadows has been renewed for Season 4. The announcement that the hit vampire comedy will get a fourth season comes ahead of Season 3's premiere next month.

What We Do in the Shadows Season 4 will arrive on FX in 2022. In a statement, the network's president of original programming, Nick Grad, said, "Fans can't seem to get enough of What We Do in the Shadows and FX is ready to feed that appetite by setting up the series for a fourth season. Our thanks to the extraordinary job by the creative team, cast, and crew who keep making a great show better each season."

The show is based on the 2014 movie of the same title, which was written and directed by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi. It uses a mockumentary format to document the nocturnal activities of a group of vampires who live together, with the location of the series shifting to Staten Island from the movie's Wellington, New Zealand.

United Airlines Announces Plan to Bring Supersonic Flights Back

by Wesley LeBlanc
Daniel Whitehill

This is awesome

United Airlines is set to purchase 15 Boom "Overture" airliners, which are supersonic commercial airplanes that fly on 100% sustainable aviation fuel.

This news comes by way of United Airlines and Boom Supersonic, which announced today on Twitter and in a blog post that the company will purchase 15 Overture planes once this model of plane passes "United's demanding safety, operating, and sustainability requirements," with the option to purchase 35 more at a later date.

"Through innovation and collaboration, United and Boom are realizing a shared mission to connect the world safely and sustainably," the blog post reads. "At speeds twice as fast as today's passenger jets, United's new Overture fleet will open countless possibilities for new experiences and human connection."

The Overture could be the first commercial supersonic plane since Aérospatiale and British Aircraft Corporation's Concorde jet, which was retired in 2003 after flying for 27 years, as reported by The Verge.

United's own timeline sees Overture airplanes carrying passengers via supersonic flight by 2029, with the planes set to rollout in 2025 and the first flight scheduled for 2026.

United's CEO, Scott Kirby, says today's announcement is about building a "more innovative, sustainable airline" and that such an airline features a fleet of supersonic planes. These planes fly twice as fast as today's commercial flights and will use 100% sustainable fuel, which, according to Boom, makes these planes carbon-neutral.

"The world's first order of net-zero carbon supersonic aircraft marks a significant step toward our mission to create a more accessible world," Boom CEO and founder, Blake Scholl, writes in the blog post. "At speeds twice as fast, United passengers will experience all the advantages of life lived in person, from deeper, more productive business relationships to longer, more relaxing vacations to far-off destinations."

According to Boom, a flight from New York to London, which currently takes about six and a half hours, will only take three and a half hours aboard an Overture plane. Don't get too excited just yet, though, because The Verge reports that Boom says tickets will cost $5000 per seat. United, however, says it's not ready to announce pricing yet.

United Airlines says the Overture onboard experience is "designed for comfort, productivity, and privacy, featuring in-seat entertainment screens, ample personal space, and contactless technology." You can see a render of what that looks like below:

Boom Supersonic says the Overture will have a passenger capacity of 65 to 88 people with a cruising altitude of 60,000 feet. It comes in at 205 feet in length and can hit speeds as fast as Mach 1.7, which is the equivalent of 1304.36 miles per hour.

While waiting for these planes to take to the skies, check out this story about how the U.S. government is expected to release a UFO report soon (perhaps the Overture can keep up with these UFOs) and then check out this footage of UFOs released by the Pentagon.

Benedetta: Watch The Trailer For Erotic Nun Movie From Showgirls Director

Daniel Whitehill

Looks fun. I love Verhoeven for his crazy!

The first trailer for Paul Verhoeven's Benedetta has been released. The new movie from the director of Robocop and Showgirls will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in July.

Benedetta is adapted from Judith C. Brown's non-fiction book Immodest Acts and focuses on the highly forbidden relationship between Benedetta and Bartolomea, two nuns in a 17th century Italian convent. Verhoeven is a director who loves to provoke, and the movie's mix of sex and religion is sure to get the film plenty of attention when it releases. Check the trailer out below--just be warned, it's very NSFW!

The movie stars Virginie Efira as Benedetta and Daphne Patakia as Bartolomea, and the cast also includes Lambert Wilson, Charlotte Rampling, and Olivier Rabourdin. Verhoeven's previous film was the 2016 thriller Elle, and the director's other movies include Basic Instinct, Total Recall, and Hollow Man.
