Incredible Drone Film Takes You Into A Busy Bowling Alley

Daniel Whitehill

Super Impressive camera work

A recent video surfaced of drone footage travelling through Bryant Lake Bowl in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and what's notable is how skilled the pilot is along with how cool the final product of the video looks like. It's worth your time to check it out for yourself.

It'll be a few months yet before we can start thinking about things like putting our grubby mitts all over bowling balls thrown by dozens of other bowlers. Even so, we're anticipating the day when we can once again gather at places like this bowling alley, which is the subject of the stunning short film, captured via drone, below.

The video comes via YouTuber jaybyrdfilms. In the video, an FPV drone begins above the bowling alley and snakes in through the door and around the alley as people bowl and chat. It works its way back into the back of the alley and back out, giving us a look at the whole building before the end.

X-Play's Adam Sessler and Attack of the Show's Kevin Pereira Returning to G4

by Adam Bankhurst
Daniel Whitehill

So excited for them!

G4 has announced that Adam Sessler and Kevin Pereira are officially returning to G4 and will be hosting the revivals of X-Play and Attack of the Show!, respectively. While G4 recently confirmed that X-Play and Attack of the Show would be returning, this is the first official confirmation of Sessler and Pereira rejoining the network. Sessler has been a huge part of G4's relaunch, beginning with its first teaser from last year. Since then, he has brought back Crazy Adam to launch #G4Needs Talent and Ebeneezer Sess during the holidays. He even did a game review for Cyberpunk 2077. In the new version of X-Play, Sessler will review games while inviting guests from across gaming to talk about the industry at large. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/07/24/g4-2021-return-teaser"] Kevin Pereira, or Colonel Duckbuckets, is also making his return to Attack of the Show!, in which he was an original cast member. G4 also teased that there is "no word from his former co-host, though..." One of Pereira's co-hosts, Olivia Munn, was reportedly in talks to return to G4 back in August 2020. Alongside Adam Sessler and Kevin Pereira's return, it was also announced that Ovilee May and Froskurinn will be the first two on-air cast members for G4's official slate of esports programming. Last week, these two made their debut with The Bleep Esports Show for the B4G4 beta campaign. Sessler, Pereira, Ovilee, and Froskurinn all join other G4 hosts like WWE's Xavier Woods in this reboot of the network. COVID-19 Vaccine Announcement Seems to Cause Game Companies' Stock to Drop

by Joe Skrebels
Daniel Whitehill

Lol. Sorry Xbox.

As news of a 'milestone' COVID-19 vaccine was announced today, many games companies saw their stock price drop sharply, seemingly as a direct result of the news. News of a Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine with an apparent 90% effectiveness began to spread at around 5am Pacific / 8am Eastern / 1pm UK today. ICO Partners CEO Thomas Bidaux then noted that, at around the same time, the stock of CD Projekt (Cyberpunk 2077) and Ubisoft (Assassin's Creed, Watch Dogs) had dropped sharply over their earlier levels. The same effect seems to go for the likes of Take Two, Unity, EA, and Activision Blizzard. It must be noted that these drops aren't as precipitous as the 1-day graphs make them look – when placed against most games companies' yearly stock levels, the drop is far smaller than 2020's overall gains. It's no secret that games companies have done well out of the COVID-19 pandemic. With more people at home than ever, sales of hardware, software, and games subscriptions have rocketed in the last several months. It's been enough of an upshift that Sony has even seemingly changed its policy around creating games for PS4. What will be interesting is to see whether this is an early sign of investors losing faith in the industry's booming growth, or a blip based on today's news. Vaccines' continual development, and a return to more normal life across the world, will undoubtedly have an effect on people's gaming routines (and thus their willingness to spend on the hobby), but there's the chance that the huge uptake in games in recent months will see a longer-term boon for the industry. Netflix Is Raising Its Prices Again

by Petey Oneto
Daniel Whitehill

And this is why I just cancelled.

Netflix announced on Thursday that it is raising prices for its standard plan and premium plan for U.S. consumers. The two-stream HD Standard plan will increase from $12.99 to $13.99 while the four-stream 4K Premium plan is raising from $15.99 a month to $17.99. The one-stream SD plan will remain priced at $8.99 a month. All new subscribers will pay this price while current subscribers will see the price increase over the next few months, according to a Netflix representative who spoke to Variety. An email will be sent to all subscribers notifying them of the increase, and a notification will appear within the Netflix app 30 days before the price takes effect from that user's account. Netflix last raised their prices in January 2019. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/10/02/new-to-netflix-for-october-2020"] “We understand people have more entertainment choices than ever and we’re committed to delivering an even better experience for our members,” the Netflix representative said in a statement. “We’re updating our prices so that we can continue to offer more variety of TV shows and films — in addition to our great fall lineup. As always we offer a range of plans so that people can pick a price that works best for their budget.” The news comes about a week after Netflix revealed that five of their recent original movies are among their biggest ever, which is a sign that Netflix is doing alright with new streaming competitors like Disney+, Peacock, and HBO Max. Netflix also has recognizable properties like an animated Resident Evil series, a live-action Assassin's Creed series, a live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series and new seasons of Cobra Kai to entice viewers. Netflix also recently announced it will expand its anime offerings. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=netflix-spotlight-november-2020&captions=true"] Netflix may be doing well enough to raise prices but they are prone to cancellations. Here's why Netflix cancels shows so quickly now, but also check out why Netflix is the best place for video game adaptations. And here's everything coming to Netflix in November 2020, including The Crown season 4 and The Christmas Chronicles: Part Two. The Last of Us Head Wants to 'Decouple' the HBO Show From the Game Experience

by Beth Elderkin on io9, shared by Tom McKay to Gizmodo

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. The story from the Last of Us 2 was amazing.

There have been many attempts to turn video games into successful movies and TV shows, like Assassin’s Creed, Tomb Raider, and Super Mario Bros. Sony is still trying to make Uncharted happen. For the most part they’ve all fallen short. Craig Mazin, who’s working on HBO’s The Last of Us, shared his thoughts on the…

HBO Developing A Hellraiser Series -- Report

Daniel Whitehill

This would be amazing!

Hot on the heels of the announcement that Clive Barker's horror classic Hellraiser will be getting a reboot comes a report from The Hollywood Reporter that the franchise will be adapted into a TV series for HBO.

While details on the project are still developing, Mark Verheiden (Falling Skies) and Michael Dougherty (Trick'r'Treat) are set to write while David Gordon Green (Halloween) will direct "several initial episodes." The series is separate from the film reboot and will continue and expand the mythology contained within the franchise's 10 films. This likely means the show will explore not only the human characters but the Cenobites, the monsters contained within the franchise's infamous "puzzle box," known as The Lament Configuration, who hunt them as well. Lead by the iconic Pinhead (Doug Bradley), the Cenobites torture and kill their victims until the puzzle box is solved, sending them back to their labyrinthian hell-dimension.

See The Director Of Chris Hemsworth Netflix Movie Extraction Risk His Life To Get The Shot

Daniel Whitehill

This action sequence was the best car chase I think I’ve ever seen. That good.

The new Chris Hemsworth Netflix movie, Extraction, is all about action. One sequence in particular that goes above and beyond in terms of action, with director Sam Hargrave strapping himself to a car, putting himself in harm's way to get the shot.

Netflix has posted a cool behind-the-scenes video of one harrowing sequence from the shoot where Hargrave is attached to the hood of a car, using a handheld camera to film a scene involving a car chase. Check it out below.

This is part of Extraction's action-heavy "oner," which is an industry term for a series of long shots that are joined together to form a single, continuous shot. GameSpot's Extraction review praised this 11-minute scene, saying it's the high point of the movie.

Borderlands 3's second DLC has Gaige returning to plan Wainwright and Hammerlock's wedding

by Brett Makedonski
Daniel Whitehill

OMG. The second Borderlands DLC is a gay wedding. I fucking love it!

Guns, Love, and Tentacles: The Marriage of Wainwright & Hammerlock. That's the lengthy, headline-unfriendly title of the second major expansion for Borderlands 3. It only gets better from there.

During Gearbox's PAX East panel today, the developer gave us our first look at DLC number two for Borderlands 3. It takes place on the ice planet of Xylourgos, where Wainwright and Hammerlock have decided to get married. Xylourgos is full of frostbitten beasts, a town of cultists, and the carcass of a giant Vault Monster. Hope no one's a groomzilla because things will not go to plan.

Guns, Love, and Tentacles has a high-profile cameo from Gaige. Returning as a wedding planner, Gaige was the mechromancer add-on character in Borderlands 2. Her job title assumes that she'll ensure order, but she'll probably cause everything to go further off the rails.

There's some interesting influence in this add-on. Gearbox specifically mentions Eldritch horror as an obstacle to overcome. That's the Lovecraftian genre of cosmic horror. Those cultists are going to summon Borderlands' version of Cthulhu, aren't they?

We'll find out soon enough. Guns, Love, and Tentacles: The Marriage of Wainwright & Hammerlock launches on March 26 on all platforms.

I'm not even sure what to think of this. The article is interesting, but so are the comments. Of course I'll see it, but still. hmmmm.

Normally, if a person with over 70 million Twitter followers mentions your movie, it’s a good thing. Whoopi Goldberg's Guinan to Return in Picard Season 2

by Jesse Schedeen

This is awesome.

Star Trek: The Next Generation fans can expect to see another familiar face in Star Trek: Picard's second season. Star Patrick Stewart has invited Goldberg to reprise her role as the sage bartender Guinan in Season 2. Stewart made the gesture during an appearance on The View, which is co-hosted by Goldberg. The actor, who plays Jean-Luc Picard, made it clear he wasn't merely wishing for Goldberg to return, but formally passing along an offer from executive producer Alex Kurtzman and the producing team. Goldberg happily accepted, which seems to confirm she'll indeed be appearing in Season 2.
