LeBron James' Phone Problems Are a Big Samsung Headache
NBA player LeBron James, a celebrity spokesperson for Samsung who has been featured in a variety of Galaxy device ads, had a mini-meltdown on Twitter this week when his Samsung phone deleted all of his data.
Miami Heat's James, who must carry around the Samsung-branded Galaxy smartphone as a part of an endorsement deal, was quick to share his frustration with the device in a tweet to his 12 million followers
Considering the company is paying James a hefty sum to endorse and promote the brand, this probably didn't sit too well with the Samsung crew. Read more...

AUSTIN, Texas — Like bees to honey, cameras swarmed 42-year-old rapper Snoop Dogg when he walked into Airbnb's pop-up venue for SXSW on Tuesday. The veteran artist watched as people around him sipped on the event's special drink — gin and juice — a cocktail that he rapped about in his 1994 hit single of the same name.
The song is still remembered 20 years later, which is something any new musician or band can only dream of. But SXSW, which was originally designed to showcase independent artists, can surely help them take that first step into similar stardom — right?

Call them Glassoldiers.
The American military may soon be filled with soldiers sporting Google Glass-like headgear that can measure distances, display 3D building layouts, transmit video from a drone and more, all on a glass display right in front of their eyes.
Battlefields are full of data soldiers can use: enemy positions, the location of fellow soldiers, maps of a city or a house, video of what they'll encounter over a hill. But until recently, there's been no way to live-stream that data to soldiers on the ground. That's what Q-Warrior, high-tech headgear built by United Kingdom-based BAE Systems, provides. First reported by Wired, it gives soldiers a full-color, 3D display of what's happening in areas outside their line of sight, which has the potential to seriously boost a soldier's situational awareness. Chromecast sales revealed to be in the “millions” range on eve of expanded availability
Ever since Google announced the $35 Chromecast media streaming dongle, the company has enjoyed great success. We figured sales were off the charts with early availability of the dongle being scarce throughout various retail outlets, but now we have a better idea of just how much buzz Google has been able to generate around this thing.
According to Android and Chrome boss Sundar Pichai, Chromecast sales have crept into the “millions” range, though he wasn’t interested in giving us any exact figures. Either way, hitting over a million units is significant, and Google won’t want to slow down at this point.
The company revealed at SXSW that they are working hard to bring the Chromecast to many more countries within the next few weeks. The device has only been available for US customers to this point, so it’ll be interesting to see just how successful this thing can be once more of the world gets their hands on it.
Even crazier to think about is the fact that the Chromecast train is only just getting started. It wasn’t until recently that Google opened up the SDK to any and every developer willing and able to implement support, and we’ve seen many new apps introduce functionality as a result. It’s already blossomed into a very powerful and flexible multimedia beast, and we imagine things will get even better once more developers catch on.

When A Famed Nike Coach Tried To Steal A Race, A Track Protest Was Born
The scene was unprecedented: seven runners walking off the track hand in hand, in quiet protest against their own governing body. The women had just run the 1,500-meter race at the U.S. indoor national championships on Feb. 23 in Albuquerque. The day before, the winner of the 3,000-meter race, Gabe Grunewald, had been disqualified by one of the most powerful men in track, Nike Oregon Project coach Alberto Salazar, for supposedly interfering with one of his athletes. How Salazar managed the feat is still unclear, but to fans and to other runners it was obvious what had happened: The people who really run the sport had prevailed upon the people who nominally do to change a result in their favor.
