Extreme closeup! IBM makes 'world's smallest movie' using atoms (video)

by Mark Hearn

DNP IBM

After taking a few shadowy pictures for the scientific world's paparazzi, the atom is now ready for its closeup. Today, a team of IBM scientists are bypassing the big screen to unveil what they call the "world's smallest movie." This atomic motion picture was created with the help of a two-ton IBM-made microscope that operates at a bone-chilling negative 268 degrees Celsius. This hardware was used to control a probe that pulled and arranged atoms for stop-motion shots used in the 242-frame film. A playful spin on microcomputing, the short was made by the same team of IBM eggheads who recently developed the world's smallest magnetic bit. Now that the atom's gone Hollywood, what's next, a molecular entourage?

LINE messenger has more than 150 million users, because we all love stickers

by Mat Smith

LINE messenger has more than 150 million users, we all love stickers

Four months since the Korean-Japanese messaging app broke through the 100 million user mark, LINE has added another 50 million -- not bad for an app that only launched in June 2011. In another testament to people's unabated love for stickers (or giant emoticons), LINE has launched in 11 languages and about 230 countries. New growth has apparently centered around the Middle East and Asia, with Taiwan, Japan and Thailand currently its most popular locales. The company is still looking to compete with incumbents like Whatsapp and Facebook in the US and Europe, however, with a little help from all those LINE-hosted games and apps.

MiiPC offers backers double the memory for $15, throws in a free mic

by Brian Heater

MiiPC offers backers double the memory for $15, throws in a free mic

With a week left in an already successful Kickstarter campaign (approaching three times its initial $50,000 goal), the makers of the MiiPC are giving backers the chance to increase their system's memory. Add $15 before the close of the project and you'll be able to double things up, from 1GB to 2GB of RAM and 4GB to 8GB of storage -- the move comes in response to pledger feedback, according to the company. And speaking of listening, the makers of the parental-friendly Android PC are also tossing in a free built-in mic for those who pre-ordered, just for good measure.

The 5 Most Awesomely Bad Comic Book Movies

By Felix Clay  Published: April 26th, 2013  Brand X Pictures/Brand X Pictures/Getty Images Comic book movies are the greatest gift Hollywood has ever given unto mankind, and I'll tell you why, because if I didn't, that statement would just hang there like a flaccid, weird penis on a fence post

by David Sánchez

967bd381207ca6d26685384fb031f2d3_large

  • Procesador Freescale i.MX 6 ARM Cortex-A9 CPU Dual o Quad core (según modelo) 1GHz
  • Gráficos integrados con 3 módulos separados: 2D, OpenGL® ES2.0 3D y OpenVG™
  • Procesador Atmel SAM3X8E ARM Cortex-M3 CPU (según especificación de Arduino Due)
  • Memoria RAM DDR3 1GB
  • 54 Digital I/O + Analógico (Arduino-compatible R3 1.0 pinout)
  • HDMI y LVDS +  Soporte táctil
  • Router Ethernet RJ45 (10/100/1000 MBit)
  • WiFi
  • Mini USB y Mini USB OTG (on the go)
  • USB type A (x2)
  • Android 4.04 Ice Cream Sandwich

74091738e991bea1a56f8e309c7c352e_large
