U.T.-Ed-X partnership lets people around the world enroll in classes for free

A partnership between the UT System and Ed X, an online learning initiative started by Harvard and M-I-T appears to be paying off. It's taken just three days for 15 thousand people worldwide to sign up for four online courses offered by UT Austin, "What our partnership with 'Ed-X' allows us do to is really put our faculty on this local stage because anyone anywhere in the world with an internet connection can enroll in classes for free."

UT System's Jenny Lacoste-Caputo says the most popular course so far is Energy 101, which gives students an overview of energy technologies, fuels and environmental impacts. More than five thousand students have signed up for that.

In what sounds for all the world like an April Fool's joke until you learn that it was announced at WonderCon yesterday, Dark Horse will release a comic adaptation of George Lucas' first script for Star Wars. Titled "The Star Wars" and starring Annikin Starkiller, General Luke Skywalker and a 6-foot-tall lizard-man Han Solo, it's wildly different from what finally ended up on screen.
