Jena Malone asked before talking about the Blu-ray for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, as though she were one of its many admirers as opposed to one of its stars. "There is so much behind-the-scenes footage. We had so much fun on Catching Fire that I'm just excited to sit down and watch." And really, who could blame her for fangirling about her own movie, the first with a female lead to top the annual box office in 40 years?

While the power of Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) is undeniable, Malone's character — badass District 7 tribute Johanna Mason — was Catching Fire's biggest breakout, thanks to an intoxicating mix of venom and vulnerability. But what the 29-year-old actress put into the movie paled in comparison to what she got out of it.

"I learned so much about myself through playing Johanna," she told BuzzFeed. "I knew I had strength as an actor, but Johanna taught me how incredibly strong I could be emotionally, that I could intimidate an entire room with just the energy I walked in with. You can really do some damage through how you carry yourself in life."

When he first suggested placing Captain Kevin Oprey on the liner’s bulbous bow for the photoshoot, people apparently looked at him like he was ‘a bit mad’.

The shoot took place at a port off the coast of Bali with two safety boats positioned nearby just in case.

Commenting on the striking images, Morgan said: ‘It is this towering creature and this little man, it is an incredible juxtaposition. He is an incredible man, this beautiful huge liner he controls every day.

‘It is one of the most epic shoots I have ever done.’

Artist Jonas Dahlberg will create a permanent cut in the headland to remember the victims of Anders Breivik.

This is the winning proposal to commemorate the victims of Norway's July 22 massacre, the 2011 attack in which 77 people died after far-right militant Anders Breivik bombed an Oslo government building before committing a mass shooting on the island of Utøya.

The artist Jonas Dahlberg won the competition to build a memorial to the Utøya victims by proposing a permanent cut in the headland at Sørbråten, which overlooks the island.

The judges unanimously backed his proposal to create a cut that will "recreate the physical experience of something being taken away" while also reflecting "the abrupt and permanent loss of those who died on Utøya".

Visitors will be able to access the cutting and see the names of those who died, which will be engraved on the opposite side of the excavation.

The cut will be three-and-a-half-metres wide and will make it impossible to reach the end of the headland. Earth removed from the excavation will be taken to Oslo and used to build the foundation for a memorial to the government workers who died in the capital city.

The judges concluded that Dahlberg's proposal is "radical and brave, and evokes the tragic events in a physical and direct manner".

CNBC spoke this week with Dutch speedskating coach Jillert Anema about his country's crazy-dominant performance at the Sochi games — 21 medals, six of them gold, with a 22nd already guaranteed in men's team pursuit. And Anema has a hot take on why the Dutch are performing so much better than the Americans, who've been disappointing from Shani Davis on down, in the sport.

"You have a lot of attention on a foolish sport like American football and you waste a lot of talent, athletic talent, on a sport that is meant to kill each other, to injure each other. ... You're so narrow-minded, and then you want to compete against the world [in other sports] when you waste a lot of time, good talent on a sport that sucks."

Shows how much this guy knows! Getting injured isn't the point of football. It's just something that happens to occur like 40 or 50 times a game, by accident, because of Toughness.

Anema also made some frankly ridiculous comments about the relative value of Olympic medals:

"I think that the gold medal in speedskating is just as valuable as the gold medal in basketball, and we won 22. You'll never win 22 in basketball."

In point of fact, the United States has won 21 of the 28 gold medals awarded in men's and women's basketball, with numbers 22 and 23 on the way the next time the Summer Olympics come around, so think about that, Holland.

Jillert Anema needs to check himself before he "gets dunked on by LeBron and has to go to the hospital"s himself.
