catsbeaversandducks: Meet Bertie, the owl who is afraid of...
Lrbeveroh wow

Meet Bertie, the owl who is afraid of going outside… and he loves nothing more than helping his owner make a cup of tea!
Bertie, the three-year-old tawny owl that is agoraphobic. He shares a farmhouse with his owner Peter Middleton, and after his daily bath he likes to dry his feathers by sitting on top of the aga. When he isn’t welcoming guests with a hoot or preening them on the sofa, he’s hard at work letter shredding in the office. Mr Middleton said the domesticated owl, which he adopted after he was left abandoned on the ground, hates the outdoors. He said: “He just doesn’t like going outside, I think he’s agoraphobic. He’s not used it and he’s very comfortable in the house.”

2 weeks ago, a stray kitten walked into my garage, jumped into my lap, and went to sleep. Surprisingly, she seemed happy living in the garage while we looked for her owners but no one claimed her. Today she's inside and officially a part of our family. Sa

This World of Warcraft wedding is fantasy come to life
LrbeverOh wow

One recently married couple loved World of Warcraft so much they decided to make Blizzard Entertainment's MMORPG the theme for their matrimony. The Offbeat Bride (via The Huffington Post) this week posted images of Jen and Nick's Warcraft-themed wedding and it's the ultimate fantasy come to life.
The Warcraft-themed wedding (which took place in New Hampshire) included Alliance and Horde flags on the altar and the couple also crafted their own weapons based on items from the game. Tables at the reception were even named after World of Warcraft raid bosses.
Jen and Nick did not meet in World of Warcraft, but that's where their relationship blossomed, Jen wrote on the website.

"He lived in New Hampshire at the time, and I was in Massachusetts, but we could talk through the game and grow together," she said. "So the game became part of the wedding theme, since it was so integral to our relationship. We aimed for a balance between nerd and tradition."
The wedding wasn't all about Warcraft, however. Jen's processional music was the Game of Thrones theme, while the after-party featured "Terra's Theme" from Final Fantasy. On top of that, when Jen and Nick presented each other with rings at the altar, the "Get Item" sound from The Legend of Zelda played.
Last month, BioWare recalled how two Mass Effect 3 players met, fell in love, and were eventually married. You can read that story here.

Nacho Doritos Battered Bacon
LrbeverWow.

Crunchy, cheesy Nacho Doritos®. Open up a bag of those babies and I won’t be able to stop eating them. Coincidentally, I have that same problem with bacon, which pretty much means my mouth is like a black hole to these Nacho Doritos® Battered Bacon strips, forever devouring until there’s none left. I’m not really sure what brought me to the idea of deep frying strips of bacon coated in nacho Doritos, but the moment it happened, I knew I was on the edge of an amazing discovery. And, lucky for me, I was right.
The first bite was like venturing into the time vortex (because who doesn’t know how to time travel?). At first it’s a little scary, but as the flavors jumbled around in my mouth, I couldn’t help but fall in love with the excitement of it. The way that the Doritos saturated themselves in the batter made them taste more like melty cheese than crunchy chips, which clearly is a bonus. Finally, a satisfactory way to eat my bacon covered in CHEESE. These are AWESOME! I mean, come on… Just look at this picture!
Nacho Doritos® Battered Bacon
1 package of thick-cut bacon
1 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup finely crushed Nacho Doritos®
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt (substitute sugar for sweet batter)
1 cup milk, beer, or water (I used milk)
Line an edged baking sheet with foil. Lay your bacon strips on the sheet, then place in the oven. Heat the over to 375 and cook for about 15 minutes. When done, transfer to paper towel-lined plate to drain excess grease.
Heat 2-3 inches worth of oil in a deep fryer or skillet to 350 degrees.
In a bowl, mix together flour, Doritos®, baking powder, and salt. Mix thoroughly so that the baking powder is evenly distributed. Slowly add in 1 cup of milk. Stir until your batter is smooth.
Cut the bacon strips in half, or smaller bites if you’d like, then coat each piece in the batter. Carefully drop it in the hot oil. Cook for about 2-4 minutes, turning over half way through. Place cooked pieces onto a cooling rack or another paper towel-lined plate.

You’re Bloody Amazing, Is What You Are!
LrbeverI don't know much about this lawsuit but the two pictures in this are awesome, hehe.
So yesterday, a post went up asking for contributions for a legal fund to help Karen Stollznow fight Ben Radford’s asshole lawsuit. I’d had my fingers crossed for a long time, hoping this day would come. Had cash ready and everything. Good thing I was watching for it, because I barely got me contribution in before you amazing people pushed it over the $30,000 goal. In six hours.

And now the thing’s up to nearly $40k, and I’m thinking Ben Radford is going to end up dangling from his ankles while Karen’s lawyers shake him for spare change.
Because of you, a woman who’s already suffered at the hands of an asshole will not have to settle with his asshole of a lawyer to avoid complete ruin. Our legal system is a fucking mess, so I can’t predict she’ll win, but it’s my fervent hope that Radford lives the rest of his life in crippling debt, loved only by the handful of terrible people who like to call themselves skeptics but are really raging fuckwads who live to harm others, and perhaps a dog, although I’m not sure a dog’s famous impulse for affection is quite so strong as that.
I’ll be donating this month’s filthy lucre from this very blog. If Karen doesn’t need it, the people who advocate for sexual assault victims certainly could use it, and all her excess is going to that good cause. I had an advocate with me whilst navigating the legal system in an attempt to make my rapist pay, and I can tell you that she made all the difference in the world. I’m happy to see funds go toward that cause. I hope sincerely that the entire amount can make it there, on account of Radford having to pay any and all legal fees, plus a hefty settlement.
Even if it doesn’t, even if it takes all we can give and more to fight this thing, it’s still worth it. It’s time to send a message to harassers who love to use lawsuits to shut their victims up that it ain’t gonna work no more. Too many of us in this community have had it. And our pockets are jingling with just enough spare change to hire an excellent lawyer and give ‘em the old what-for. This nonsense must stop.
I’ve always known that our side of the divide is filled with the best people. The response to Karen’s fundraiser absolutely proves that. Those of you who donated, those of you who can’t but are cheering from the sidelines, those of you who are taking a stand for real justice: you are what makes this the best place to be.

If you’ve got the funds to spare, throw a little extra change Karen’s way. It’ll help make it clear that we’ve drawn a very firm line, and those who choose to cross it had best be prepared for pain.
Those who don’t know what all this is about can find out at our own Lousy Canuck’s excellent timeline.

McDonalds Pony Toys Already Showing Up
LrbeverWooooo
Quite a few people are buzzing in with reports on early releases of the new set of Mcdonalds pony toys. These in particular were sent in by an employee a few days ago, so they do seem to have them on hand.
We don't have an exact street date yet, with people saying they were told everything from tomorrow to next week. It would be best to call your local restaurant and ask directly if you are curious.
Happy hunting! Get more images below, along with the full set for those that missed that.

Japanese Man Spends $150,000 on Plastic Surgery to Look Like Michelangelo’s David
LrbeverI guess he took his plastic surgery for granite. hehehe.
Alan, a 20-year-old kid from Japan, spent $150,000 on plastic surgery in a span of just one year. After being teased throughout school for his effeminate looks, he wanted to permanently change his face. And he chose to model it after Michelangelo’s masterpiece Renaissance sculpture, David. Alan wanted to make himself look ‘foreign’ and have an ‘ageless face’ so he felt like ‘the ideal is the Statue of David’.
I’m not sure how much Alan resembles the chiseled face of David, but he certainly looks nothing like his former self. He was on a Japanese TV show recently, where he spoke about his various surgeries – two on the nose, one on the eyes, four lift-and-tucks to remove and prevent wrinkles, and injections to alter the shape of his chin. Alan left home and moved to Tokyo at the age of 16. There, he got involved with at least five older women who have sponsored all his beauty treatments.
But he was quick to point out that he didn’t share sexual relationships with any of these women. He said: “If I do that once, the money flow will stop as that companion will be satisfied.” It appears that Alan’s income from his lady-friends is quite regular – he visits his plastic surgeon every morning to get a special IV (worth $3,000 a month) loaded with supplements that keep him looking young.

Her forelock/front mane piece was sculpted with a foam core to hold it's 3d shape.
This plush was exhausting to make. That forelock took me over a day to make. Never have I made a more challenging mane pattern. I'm thrilled to get to show off my open mouth pattern, and yes I will be making Pinkie with this in the future, I however already have one for myself so didn't want to make her again for the sake of showing it off.
