They remade Point Break. This is the trailer. God help us all

by Ben Kuchera

Imagine Point Break if it were remade with "extreme athletes" and a cast of generically attractive individuals.

You don't have to imagine anymore, because it's a reality and you can watch the trailer and despair. It doesn't look bad, it doesn't look good, it just looks completely unnecessary.

In theaters December 25!

Avocado Love: Wool Sculpture By Ukrainian Artist Anna Dovgan

by Dovas

Even two halves of a sliced avocado can become adorable critters in the hands of a creative artist like Ukraine-based Anna Dovgan. Anna made two adorable halves of a sliced avocado that fit back together in an adorable hug.

This avocado is probably our favorite piece of work by Dovgan, but she has plenty of other cute felted wool sculptures on her online Wooolsculpture Etsy shop.

If you like her cute felt wool art, you’ll love to see what other artists have come up with. We recently wrote about Japanese needle-felting expert Housetu Sato, who created an enormous wearable cat head out of felt!

Artist Hand-Cuts Insanely Intricate Paper Art From Single Sheets Of Paper

by Dovas

Suzy Taylor, an extraordinarily talented paper-cut artist in Hertfordshire, England, creates mind-bogglingly detailed works of paper art that are cut entirely by hand. She cuts each of her original designs out of a single piece of paper.

Her artwork revolves primarily around highly detailed renditions of folk art and natural or floral themes. She’s certainly passionate about her work; “I love working this way, it’s totally absorbing and I can get lost in it for hours.” She has a very popular Etsy shop which is temporarily closed as of the publication of this article, but if you love her work, be sure to follow her!

If you love Taylor’s incredibly intricate paper cut artwork, be sure to check out Akira Nagaya and Maude White. It’s amazing what an artist can do with a simple sheet of paper!

Things continue to exist even when we can’t see them, but until we’re old enough to understand that notion, it’s out of sight, out of mind. Object permanence is one of those things we figure out when we’re eight months to a year old.

How To Make Edible & Stackable LEGO Gummy Candy

by Dovas
Bridget

i went from "wow cute" to utter disgust at the picture of the person with their hands all over the food, i have no idea why.

Just when you thought LEGOs couldn’t get any better, somebody comes along and creates a recipe for edible homemade gummy LEGO pieces that you can actually build with! Grant Thompson, the genius behind the ‘King Of Random’ Youtube DIY channel, posted a step-by-step recipe for how to make your dreams come true.

The best part is that there are only 2 ingredients – gelatin and water (though you can use flavored gelatin or Vitamin C, too). There are also separate links for creating a silicone LEGO candy mold, which is also relatively simple.

The cherry on top is how Thompson closes his mold so that you can actually build with these gummies! If you have very young children at home, however, consider waiting until they’re older – these gummies may encourage young children to eat real LEGO parts.

Gaming Daily: Former BIOSHOCK Developers Working on Horror Game

by Malik Forté

Oh what a day! We kicked off the day with a kick ass first look at the Mad Max video game, and news of the release date for the PlayStation exclusive, Until Dawn. Now, we end the day with the first details of The Deep End’s upcoming title Perception, Nintendo’s collaborative efforts with Humble Bundle, and Capcom’s most recent predictions and plans for the future. All of that in today’s Gaming Daily!

Screen Shot 2015-05-26 at 5.05.30 PM

The Deep End Games unveils Perception.

A team of former Bioshock developers–known as The Deep End Games– just announced their upcoming horror title, Perception. The game has a rather interesting premise, putting players in the shoes of a blind woman named Cassie who uses echolocation to explore a creepy mansion. In doing so, Cassie has to tap surfaces with her cane in order to generate an idea of the environment around her, but has to be careful not to alert a stalking entity in the process. Doesn’t sound like the most fortunate position to be in.

Perception is scheduled to hit the Steam platform in 2016, with a console version possibly to follow depending on how much stretch funding the game receives. 12-year Irrational Games veteran Bill Gardner also made a kickstarter for the game, which is looking to hit its $150,000 goal with 29 days remaining in the campaign. Perhaps this will be the game that fills that Silent Hills deep hole in our hearts.

the-humble-bundle

Nintendo teams up with Humble Bundle for a good cause.

Nintendo of America and Humble Bundle are partnering up for the first console and handheld-based video game bundle ever. From now until June 9th, you can grab the batch of Wii U and 3DS titles through the eShop. Games featured in the bundle include: Mighty Switch Force, Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition, and Woah Dave!.

If you donate above the current average, you can land yourself copies of The Fall, OlliOlli, and Moon Chronicles. Dishing out more that ten bucks will score you copies of SteamWorld Dig and Stealth Inc. 2. Console-based Humble Bundles? Sounds like the start of something very lucrative!

Capcom expects many digital games and remasters in our future.

Capcom’s latest financial report shed some light on a few interesting details in regards to the company. First off: Capcom predicts that digital sales will outpace physical options by the end of its fiscal year, which ends at the end of March 2016. A document shared by Capcom President Haruhiro Tsujimoto revealed that digital sales have increased to 5 million downloads this year, in comparison to 8 million retail purchases. The company aims to increase their digital distribution to close out 2016, utilizing platforms such as Steam alongside their continued digital efforts on console.

Alongside the news of Capcom’s strengthened digital initiative, comes the not-so-surprising news of them releasing more HD remakes. Resident Evil 0, the 2002 Gamecube title, was announced this morning, and it’s safe to assume that there are more HD remakes to come. It’s pretty much Capcom’s staple in the industry at this point. Just give me an Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 remaster and we can call it a day.

HT: Capcom Unity

That about wraps it for Tuesday’s Gaming Daily. Always keep it parked here on Nerdist for all of the juicy video game developments, and to chat about our beloved medium, I’m only one tweet away: @Malik4play.

Giant isopods are among the most awesomely creepy creatures on...

Giant isopods are among the most awesomely creepy creatures on earth. We love that Japan is so fascinated by them that they snack on miniature isopod-shaped sausages, protect their phones with nightmarish giant isopod iPhone cases, and now cuddle up with plush versions of the giant armored bugs.

Japanese online retailer Hamee Strapya World sells plush giant isopods in a range of sizes. Actual giant isopods average between 19 and 36 centimeters (7.5 and 14.2 inches) in length, but the XL plush version measures a whopping 55 centimeters (21.6 inches) long. Actual giant isopods are scavengers who live in deep, pitch black ocean waters. But we think these soft, squishy versions would make great bedtime snuggle buddies. What nightmare would dare come close when you’ve got one of these creatures in your arms?

They’re also currently available via Amazon and even come in shiny, limited edition gold and silver versions.

My friend Tyler is trying to lose weight and he asked my other friend Orlando to train him. Tyler was embarrassed to go to the gym though so Orlando is taking care of that by dressing up as characters when they go to the gym so that the focus isn’t on Tyler but on himself. So far Tyler has been trained by a Jedi and steampunk Batman. This is one of the nicest things I have ever seen done for someone else.

Orlando’s kindness blows me away.
