Comcast's HBO + Internet Plan Is the One You've Been Waiting For

by Leslie Horn on Gizmodo, shared by Whitson Gordon to Lifehacker

Comcast's HBO + Internet Plan Is the One You've Been Waiting For

No cable, no problem. The rumors that Comcast is going to let you pay for HBO like you pay for Netflix are true. Comcast is now the first company to let you have HBO without being trapped in a basic cable plan.

What If Star Wars: Episode II Was Actually a Good Movie?

by Casey Chan
Andrew.e.coyle

long, but pretty interesting if you got some nerding time on you.

Depending on where you stand as a fan of Star Wars, Star Wars Episode I, II and III either destroyed everything you believed in humanity or were never actually real movies to begin with. But what if in an alternate universe (possibly far far away) that trilogy was actually, like, good? I know, hard to imagine. But it's possible! Belated Media imagined how to make Star Wars: Episode II good and it actually sounds quite fantastic.

The Funniest Video on the Ridiculousness of Kickstarter

by Casey Chan

Kickstarter can be a fantastic launching pad for people with real knowhow and real talent to make real ideas, well, real. There are a lot of wonderful success stories! At its very peak, Kickstarter gives everyone a shot at success. But there are also a lot of epic failures too. The truth is, like much of the Internet (or the world), a lot of stuff on Kickstarter is crap. And if it's not crap, it's not special. And if it's not special, it's not worth it. And if it's not worth it, Kickstarter becomes a cesspool of overeager online panhandlers shaking you down for money.

Iman Shumpert aka 2wo 1ne - “Versace Freestyle” (Internet, 2013)

All respect to the god Jewelz but this is, to my knowledge, the highest level of competency any NBA player has ever shown in rapping. Dude is actually kind of styling, dancing around that already played out Migos flow with more finesse than than a couple of the professional rappers who have tried. This is good too!

Why The Hell Didn't The Phillies Make A Trade?

by Barry Petchesky

Love it. I'll continue to watch my 08 World Series DVD until we're not terrible again.

Why The Hell Didn't The Phillies Make A Trade?

I can think of only two reasons why Michael Young and Carlos Ruiz are still Phillies today: Either Ruben Amaro didn't realize yesterday was the trade deadline, or his afternoon nap was poorly timed.

Fast Track

by Bryan Curtis
Andrew.e.coyle

Watch the youtube video of this guy. Insane.

A couple of favorite lines from this article:

"If not for the lure of the Olympics, Isles told me, he might not have changed sports. As Rugby Magazine pointed out, this is essentially the plot of Cool Runnings."

and

But rugby was stuck in the same netherworld as Ultimate Frisbee — it was the sport that your college roommate used to make new friends, the one he was always trying to get you to play, too."

Yup, pretty much hit the nail on the head there.

How speedy Carlin Isles became the next great hope of USA Rugby. (With Grantland Channel video!)

Social Media Isn't Always That Important

Sometimes it seems like no story is complete without a social media angle: what's the reaction on Twitter, how did the news spread on Facebook? And that, that's bullshit.

Kanye West’s “Black Skinhead” Featured in Leonardo DiCaprio’s New Movie W/ Martin Scorsese (VIDEO)

by Keith Nelson Jr (@JusAire)
Andrew.e.coyle

Now, normally I would never endorse a movie that gives douchey financial guys a reason to get a money boner, but this looks really good. Mconoughey is on a roll with some good movies lately (Killer Joe, Mud, Bernie, etc.)

(AllHipHop News) Leo on the ROC? Probably not but after working with Jay-Z on the soundtrack of The Great Gatsby, DiCpario’s  features the other half of The Throne in the trailer of his upcoming Martin Scorsese-directed film The Wolf of Wall Street.

The movie is based on the memoir of New York stockbroker Jordan Belfort who refused to participate in a corruptible securities fraud case on Wall Street.

The film, being released on November 15th features Yeezus’ “Black Skinhead” track.

Check out the trailer below:

Producer Mike Dean Admits To Stealing Unreleased 2Pac Songs From Suge Knight

by Yohance Kyles (@HUEYmixwitRILEY)

(AllHipHop News) Producer/DJ Mike Dean has been working with the some of the biggest names in Hip Hop since the early 1990′s. His list of production credits include Scarface, 2Pac, Jay-Z, and he has contributed to every Kanye West album. Of course someone with that vast experience in the music industry has plenty of stories to tell.

During an interview with HuffPost Live, Dean, who started his career at Rap-A-Lot Records, talks about his interactions with 2Pac and Suge Knight.

“[2Pac, Scarface, and I] hung out. He played the Makaveli album for us, uncut, where he was talking about all the people he hated. All the stuff they took out of the album,” said Dean. “Lot’s of shots at Puffy, and B.I.G., Dre, saying their names, [and how he] was going to kill them.”

Dean says that he leaked some of Tupac’s more controversial unreleased material after his death.

“After [2Pac] died, Daz Dillinger and I stole a bunch of reels from Suge Knight,” admits Dean. “We released like six songs that were really crazy talking.”

When asked if he was fearful that Suge would retaliate against him for stealing Pac’s tracks, Dean made it clear he was not afraid of the former Death Row boss.

“I’m not worried about Suge,” said Dean. “I came from Rap-A-Lot. They learned their gangsta from us.”

Dean also goes on to talk about seeing Suge Knight smack an engineer, Tha Dogg Pound hiding out from Suge at his apartment, and having to pull out his pistol on a friend at work.

Will and Jaden Smith Reunite with DJ Jazzy Jeff and Alfonso Ribeiro in London

by Bhavna Malkani (@bstarproduction)
Andrew.e.coyle

Wow, still got it.

Television audiences in the UK were surprised when Will and Jaden Smith, reunited with The Fresh Prince of Bel Air co-stars, DJ Jazzy Jeff and Alfonso Ribeiro to perform classics from the hit comedy series.

The father and son duo, made a guest appearance on popular BBC program, The Graham Norton Show on Friday night [24 May].

During the interview, chat show host, Graham Norton, asked the Smiths about collaborating together on a record.

Will replied that the family have a built-in studio at home and a collaborative project may happen in the future. Norton then persuaded the Smiths to perform a freestyle for the live audience.

This was followed with Will performing the theme tune to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, before inviting DJ Jazzy Jeff and Alfonso Ribeiro [aka Carlton Banks] on stage for the coup de grace.

Earlier in the week, Trey Smith, Will’s eldest son, made his DJ debut at London nightclub, Bijous. Will, Jazzy Jeff and Alfonso Ribeiro attended the event.

Watch the clip from The Graham Norton Show.

Four Glamorous New Penn Station Designs (That We Shouldn't Build Yet)

This year, for the first time since it was built in 1968, Madison Square Garden’s operation permit is up for renewal. Which means that the fate of New York’s most-loathed transit clusterfuck, Penn Station, is also suddenly up for discussion. This week, four architecture firms presented sparkling, well-rendered concepts for the Penn Station of the future. But are they doomed to repeat history?

Watch a Scorpion Sting a Guy in Painful Slow Motion

by Casey Chan

The beauty of slow motion is that it lets you see and analyze every detail of anything in a much more digestible package. Explosions become a dance, athletic achievements become more thoughtful, life becomes even more interesting and idiotic behavior gets more hilarious. Watching a guy get stung by a scorpion in slow motion? Yeah, that's hilarious.
