Yu Darvish of the Texas Rangers was ONE out away from a perfect baseball game on Tuesday night when he gave up a single.

It was a great night for America’s two favorite pastimes: baseball and racism.

Yes, missing out on perfect baseball game is totally the payback America has been waiting  for…

See! At least this guy knows a bit of history. HASHTAG hiroshima, HASHTAG nagasaki.

I often receive requests to “post some nice, positive tweets.” Here are some people who really wanted Yu Darvish to pitch that perfect game:

AP Drops "Illegal Immigrant"

by Joe
Another change for the Associated Press style book.
Illegal immigration Entering or residing in a country in violation of civil or criminal law. Except in direct quotes essential to the story, use illegal only to refer to an action, not a person: illegal immigration, but not illegal immigrant. Acceptable variations include living in or entering a country illegally or without legal permission.

Except in direct quotations, do not use the terms illegal alien, an illegal, illegals or undocumented. Do not describe people as violating immigration laws without attribution. Specify wherever possible how someone entered the country illegally and from where. Crossed the border? Overstayed a visa? What nationality?

People who were brought into the country as children should not be described as having immigrated illegally. For people granted a temporary right to remain in the U.S. under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, use temporary resident status, with details on the program lower in the story.
Good. This will piss off the wingnuts. Also good.

“These Steubenville posts are pretty depressing. On the bright side, at least this is all contained to one town in Ohio!”

Did you read those tweets above? Sounds like Steubenville, Ohio right? But it’s not.

Clara Jeffery of Mother Jones gave me a heads up on these tweets. They were collected by  Jessica Glenza for an article about a 13 year old sexual assault victim being harassed online by the friends of the two accused 18 year old football players. This is in Torrington, CT.

I decided to dig even deeper. What I discovered was a ton of deleted victim-blaming tweets and the deleted accounts of those who posted the tweets. But, again, I have the screenshots…

image

“Ant” up above originally went by “@asmedick” (his post was in the original article) but changed his Twitter name to “@illest860” where his tweet remained.

(Pss…He’s not talking about the sexual assault. That’s the day his friend got picked up for committing the sexual assault.)

image

Here we have “Rape = oops! that was a mistake! my apologies, madam! “

image

And then we have “Nobody is perfect. Some of us rape! And some of those that rape tell a good joke, so it’s all cool!”

image

How about the victim?

image

And lastly…

This guy had his tweets posted in that article I linked above. He came out and “apologized” to the Connecticut newspaper. These are the tweets that followed his apology:

Ok, apparently this post is only amusing to other graphic designers but I am posting it anyway.

While some might describe the current brochure as sophisticated, message driven, and on-brand, they should be reminded that sarcasm is the lowest form of wit.
