New Series: “Frankenstein M.D.”

by Christine Linnell

FrankensteinLogoTmpGet ready to leap from the romance of Jane Austen to the dark, twisted world of Mary Shelley with Pemberley Digital’s exciting new series.

Pemberley Digital is teaming up with PBS Digital Studios to bring you “Frankenstein M.D.,” a web series adaptation of the classic novel Frankenstein. Inspired by brilliant British author Mary Shelley, who is credited with inventing the science fiction/horror genre when she was only 18, the series reimagines the title character as Victoria Frankenstein, an obsessive, eccentric prodigy determined to prove herself in the male-dominated fields of science and medicine.

Later this year, eight episodes will roll out each month following Victoria through her medical experiments. Viewers will follow the action on her YouTube channel and various social media platforms.

A new team of writers approached Pemberley Digital with the concept in mid-2013. Intrigued by their fresh voice and original take on the story – which will include ongoing research and insight from a medical professional – executive producer Bernie Su worked with them to develop the series. PBS Digital Studios partnered with us to back the project and bring the story to light.

“The team at Pemberley Digital is thrilled to be working with PBS Digital Studios on this exciting new adaptation of Mary Shelley’s cult classic, reimagined for today’s connected generation,” says Bernie. “We’re eager to take the format that we’ve cultivated with our previous multiplatform series into a new genre with a darker tone.”
