These Pokemon-Inspired Earrings Come In Several Eeveelutions
These Eeveelutions earrings are made by Etsy seller Troppa Manga Style and what makes then cool, aside from the fact that they’re Eeveelutions earrings, is that you can buy them as singles, so you can wear more than one Eeveelution at a time. Check out more pics below.
Currently, the Eeveelution earring listing is marked as sold, but more are undoubtedly on the way. You can also inquire about a custom order.
The Full Line Of Marvel And DC Business Suits Has Been Revealed
Oh my God.
Earlier this month we teased a line of Marvel and DC business suits. It was…unexpected. However, we can assure you that they are very real. The full lineup has been revealed—and some of them are totally nuts.
I mean, the full-on Batman, Iron Man, Joker, Riddler and Superman cosplay suits are probably not suitable for the boardroom. I’ll bet we see them at a wedding or two down the line though. And they have kids suits too! Check out the entire lineup below.
Okay, just look at these:
Glorious.

Google adds Tic-Tac-Toe and Solitaire to Google Search
If you’re in the mood for a quick and simple game, rather than hitting up the Play Store give Google Search a try. The company has added both Solitaire and Tic-Tac-Toe to search, both on desktop and in the mobile Google Search app.
If you want to play either, just search “solitaire” or “tic tac toe” and you’ll be able to play the game. Tic-Tac-Toe may be overly simple, but Solitaire is an addicting classic one could play for hours.
A few other small additions to search include searching “flip a coin” to get a random coin toss result and asking what sound animals make for animal noises.
Google is constantly adding fun little things to Search, and this is just the latest addition. Thanks, Google, for making a search engine fun.
Google Wallet updated to automatically transfer incoming money to your bank
Google Wallet may have been separated from Android Pay for NFC mobile payments, but it’s still a useful app for easily transferring money to others.
A new update to the Google Wallet app will now automatically transfer incoming funds to your debit card or bank account rather than leaving them in your account to be manually transfer. Since there isn’t much reason to have money in your Google Wallet account, this is definitely a big improvement.
Unfortunately, the feature may not actually go live until next week, even if you get the update now. The update also has bug fixes and visual improvements, so head to the Play Store and check for updates!
Google is expanding Wi-Fi Assistant to all Nexus users
One of the many exclusive features baked into Project Fi is Wi-Fi Assistant, but now Google has decided to expand that feature and make it available to all Nexus users.
Wi-Fi Assistant is a feature that will securely connect an Android device to an open Wi-Fi network, which have been catalogued by Google as being fast and strong. Wi-Fi Assistant is a way for Google to help users stay connected without having to deal with a terrible cellular connection and also avoid racking up data usage every month.
Google is now expanding Wi-Fi Assistant to all Nexus users, and the rollout will take place over the next several weeks. It will be available to all Nexus users running Android 5.1 or later and will work for Nexus users located in the United States, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, and in Nordic countries.
If you’re a Nexus owner, are you looking forward to this feature landing on your device?

Slow TV comes to Netflix
Earlier this month, Netflix debuted a number of slow TV shows on their service, including shows about knitting and firewood, which were very popular in Norway. Here's the complete roster:
National Firewood Evening
National Firewood Morning
National Firewood Night
National Knitting Evening
National Knitting Morning
National Knitting Night
Northern Passage
Northern Railway
Salmon Fishing
The Telemark Canal
Train Ride Bergen to Oslo
Update: Looks like a few of these programs, most notably Northern Passage and Northern Railway, are not the complete end-to-end shows that were originally broadcast. So, FYI.
Also, these shows are getting terrible ratings on Netflix. Aside from the two shorter shows mentioned above, each show has a rating of only one star. (Further update: Netflix's ratings are personalized, which means those ratings are specific to me. Others might see 4 or 5 stars. thx, @Rudien)

This is a page from one of Stanley Kubrick's notebooks, on which he jotted down more than a dozen different titles for the movie that came to be called Dr. Strangelove, or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb. Among the rejected titles were:
Dr. Doomsday or: How to Start World War III Without Even Trying
Dr. Strangelove's Secret Uses of Uranus
My Bomb, Your Bomb
Strangelove: Nuclear Wiseman
The Bomb and Dr. Strangelove or: How to be Afraid 24hrs a Day
The Passion of Dr. Strangelove
Fun titles, but they remind me of a chess quote I tweeted the other day: "When you see a good move look out for a better." Glad Kubrick stuck with it.
The alternate titles made me curious to look at the script, which I'd never seen before. Even glancing at the first few pages are illuminating. I knew the main characters names were full of suggestive puns -- General Buck Turgidson, President Merkin Muffley, General Jack D. Ripper -- but that's nothing compared to some of the names in the script, many of which do not appear in the film:
General "Buck" Schmuck
Admiral Percy Buldike
Ambassador de Sade ("Alexei de Sadeski" in the film)
Von Klutz
Frankenstein
Cadaverly
Didley
Crudley
Waffel
Funkel
Major Nonce
Lieutenant Quentin Quiffer
Lieutenant "Binky" Ballmuff
And under "General Notes", Kubrick lays out how he wants the film to look and feel:
1. The story will be played for realistic comedy - which means the essentially truthful moods and attitudes will be portrayed accurately, with an occasional bizarre or super-realistic crescendo. The acting will never be so-called "comedy" acting.
2. The sets and technical details will be done realistically and carefully. We will strive for the maximum atmosphere and sense of visual reality from the sets and locations.
3. The Flying sequences will especially be presented in as vivid a manner as possible. Exciting backgrounds and special effects will be obtained.
Nailed it. (via @monstro)

NativLang.
I can’t believe NativLang has been around since 1998 and this is the first I’ve heard of it, but so it goes. Thanks to Bruce for alerting me, and I will lazily quote his MetaFilter post on it for the links and descriptions:
NativLang, brainchild of linguist Joshua Rudder, has a series of videos dealing with various aspects of language, orthography, and so forth. For example: What Latin Sounded Like and How We Know. Kanji Story – How Japan Overloaded Chinese Characters… The Tribe That Cursed Too Much … How Korea crafted a better alphabet… India’s awesome hybrid alphabet thing… Semitic’s vowel-smuggling consonants… The Hardest Language To Spell
And, taking something of a risk: What will Future English be like?
Bruce adds: Be sure to read the comments.
From Chrome Apps to the Web
The Comments Section Is Dying
Go to any mainstream news or entertainment website, and you might notice that the comments section has either been removed outright, or it’s a wasteland.
This is probably why NPR, a platform known for its robust community of thoughtful commenters, recently announced that they’re doing away with their comments section in favor of social media interactions via Facebook and Twitter.
Because we all know how thoughtful and intelligent comments are on Facebook and Twitter.
NPR‘s reasoning for this move is along the same lines as most other mainstream sites who’ve already gone down this road. Their in-article engagement is a small fraction of how many people communicate when their social media profile is already logged in. On the surface, this makes a semblance of good business sense. Why not give the people what they want?
I’ll answer that.
Because you shouldn’t reward people for choosing not to read an article before throwing up their opinion on it, just so they can give their two cents on a headline that’s either taken out of context or is simple clickbait.
Because Facebook and Twitter comments are a proven cesspool of negativity, bickering, and intentional ignorance.
Because not everyone wants to have their name, picture, work history, and friends list displayed to thousands of strangers on a daily basis.
Because not everyone wants to create a Facebook or Twitter account.
Because a lot of us who do have accounts don’t want to hunt down the article on Facebook or Twitter (especially on Facebook, which is terrible about archiving these sorts of posts), just so we can gain whatever possible insight we can from the ongoing conversation.
Because abandoning your platform’s natural-born community of loyal readers in favor of junk food social statistics is in bad taste.
Because it’s a bad idea. Period.
At the top of this page, you’ll see an image that paints a picture of the “noise” from social media. The ironic thing is that NPR actually attached this image to their announcement to go exclusive with social media comments. I’m guessing this is a subtle hint that even the editors hate this decision just as much as we should.

Android 7.0 Nougat could arrive on August 22
Dan JonesWoohoo!
Up to this point, the official release date for Android 7.0 Nougat has been a mystery, but the wait for the next version of Android could be coming to an end very soon, at least as far as Nexus owners are concerned.
Two very distinct clues have surfaced that suggest Nougat will launch next Monday, August 22. Upgrade information posted by Canadian carrier Telus suggests that the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X will start receiving Android 7.0 updates on August 22.
Telus was spot-on last year with its software update schedule with Android Marshmallow, so it’s likely the carrier is correct this year, too.
On top of that, the recently announced Android 7.0 preview program in South Korea for LG G5 owners starts on Monday, August 22.
Nexus devices will be the first to get Android 7.0 Nougat, including the aforementioned Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. As for non-Nexus devices, we know the LG V20 will debut on September 6 with Android 7.0 on board. Google will likely unveil new Nexus smartphones sometime after that, which will launch with Android Nougat preinstalled.
Are you eagerly anticipating the release of Android 7.0?
The White Man in That Photo
The two Americans had asked Norman if he believed in human rights. Norman said he did. They asked him if he believed in God, and he, who had been in the Salvation Army, said he believed strongly in God. “We knew that what we were going to do was far greater than any athletic feat, and he said ‘I’ll stand with you’” – remembers John Carlos – “I expected to see fear in Norman’s eyes, but instead we saw love.”
Smith and Carlos had decided to get up on the stadium wearing the Olympic Project for Human Rights badge, a movement of athletes in support of the battle for equality.
They would receive their medals barefoot, representing the poverty facing people of color. They would wear the famous black gloves, a symbol of the Black Panthers’ cause. But before going up on the podium they realized they only had one pair of black gloves. “Take one each”, Norman suggested. Smith and Carlos took his advice.
But then Norman did something else. “I believe in what you believe. Do you have another one of those for me ?”
There happened to be a white American rower with them, Paul Hoffman, an activist with the Olympic Project for Human Rights. After hearing everything he thought “if a white Australian is going to ask me for an Olympic Project for Human Rights badge, then by God he would have one!” Hoffman didn’t hesitate: “I gave him the only one I had: mine”.
He was the greatest Australian sprinter in history and the holder of the 200 meter record, yet he wasn’t even invited to the Olympics in Sydney. It was the American Olympic Committee, that once they learned of this news asked him to join their group and invited him to Olympic champion Michael Johnson’s birthday party, for whom Peter Norman was a role model and a hero.
Norman died suddenly from a heart attack in 2006, without his country ever having apologized for their treatment of him. At his funeral Tommie Smith and John Carlos, Norman’s friends since that moment in 1968, were his pallbearers, sending him off as a hero.
