VP Health Systems Launches OpenVEMR
Local eHealth development company, VP Health Systems, has announced plans to migrate their successful Virtual Electronic Medical Record (VEMR) Primary Healthcare (PHC) System to an open source platform.
The product, which will be known as OpenVEMR, will cover all services provided by a primary healthcare facility, including Patient Registration, Triage, Nurse, Doctor, Chronic Disease Management and Pharmacy.
According to VP’s CEO, Faith X Ndamse, the system will have a measurable impact on improving quality of care whilst also improving the quality of data. “OpenVEMR will provide a practical and easy to use user interface and will also integrate, electronically, with the District Health Information System,” said Ndamse.
Ndamse added that OpenVEMR will further comply with the National Department of Health (NDoH) sanctioned master patient index (MPI) and the system will also be able to interface to other national systems through an interoperability layer.
“The benefit of OpenVEMR to the NDoH will be the ability to scale up the system as required,” said Ndamse. “VP is looking to partner with interested parties and to collaborate with the NDoH, where possible, to ensure that OpenVEMR meets short, medium and long term objectives of the National Strategic plan.”
The official launch for OpenVEMR will take place in February 2016 and it will officially be available in April 2016.
“This is an exciting new chapter for VP as we make our excellent product, our vast experience and localised expertise, accessible to a wider community of health workers and the primary health care services at large,” concluded Ndamse.
