Ez is jól mutatja, hogy a cég milyen nagy mértékben részese a mindennapi webforgalomnak. The Ubuntu Edge jumped past the $10 million mark today and as of the time of writing has gathered $10,386,000 in its (doomed) crowd-sourced funding campaign.

Mobile data and network analytics company WeFi has been keeping an eye on Wi-Fi and cellular network speeds across the United States since the start of 2013. Just recently, they’ve unveiled their findings on both upload and download speeds on iOS and Android devices for the second quarter of the year. Some of the trends they’re seeing include:

• In Q2, the US consumed four times as much mobile data over Wi-Fi than in Q1!
• Wi-Fi bandwidth is increasing 14.5% per quarter
• Cell bandwidth increase of 10.7% per quarter
• Instagram app usage spiked by 78% from Q1, Facebook seeing only a 15% increase

And that’s apparently just a start. According to WeFi, we’re going to see Wi-Fi speeds exceed 120Mpbs by 2020. In the meantime, here’s that infographic. Let us know if you have any thoughts to share…

As part of its global ambitions, Huawei has started handset production in Brazil. The joint-venture factory has been set up in partnership with Compal Electronics, with the idea to sell phones and tablets locally, and benefit from tax-breaks.

The facility is projected to assemble around 100,000 devices per year, and may be expanded if there’s a demand. It is based in São Paulo, near to a Foxconn factory that was set up to produce Apple devices last year.

It’s unclear which devices Huawei will make in the new factory and Brazilians can only hope the hot-new Ascend P6 will be one of the products assembled there.

Commenting on the news, Huawei Brasil’s CEO Veni Shone said: “Our strategy is to reduce the taxes levied and the total cost of production so we can offer handsets at an affordable price for the Brazilian market, with the latest in terms of technology without losing the quality of Huawei products.”

Worldwide tablet sales are set to exceed 381 million units in 2017, according to new Forrester data. Of that number, enterprise purchases will make up 18% – having risen every year as a percentage of sales since the inception of the market.

According to the report, the global installed base of tablets is poised to reach 905 million units, with more than one in eight people on earth owning one, including 29% of online consumers globally.

Among North Americans, 60% will own a tablet by 2017; while in Europe – 42% of online consumers will have one. However, penetration rates won’t reach 25% in aggregate in the developing world by 2017, but tablets will have established themselves as universal computing tools in the wealthier Asian markets such as Singapore and South Korea.

The research firm also said that tablets will play an increasingly critical role at work. Both company-issued and bring-your-own (BYO) tablets will become pervasive in workplaces in developing countries or dynamic regions of developing countries. In the next few years, employees will be more willing to pay some or all of the cost of their device; vertical scenarios will emerge in areas like healthcare; and specific classes of workers (beyond executives and traveling salespeople) will be issued tablets.
