Marvel: No Plans for Blade … Yet

Despite recent reports that Marvel is looking to resurrect its “Blade” property — after Kate Beckinsale said so doing press for “Underworld: Blood Wars” — Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige was quick to shoot down the rumor at a press screening for 15 minutes of “Doctor Strange.”

“They did ask a long time ago and I think our answer was, ‘No, we’ll do something with ‘Blade’ at some point.’ That’s still the answer,” Feige told The Playlist. “We still think he’s a great character. He’s a really fun character. We think this movie going into a different side of the universe would have the potential to have him pop up, but between the movies, the Netflix shows, the ABC shows there are so many opportunities for the character to pop up as you’re now seeing with Ghost Rider on ‘AGENTS of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ that rather than team up with another studio on that character let’s do something on our own. What that is? Where that will be? We’ll see. There is nothing imminent to my knowledge.”
Released by New Line in 1998, the original “Blade” saw huge financial success, with a whopping $131 million worldwide gross — which was quite an achievement for a superhero film at the time (let alone an R-rated one).

Former “Blade” star Snipes is on the record saying he’d like to do a “Blade 4,” indicating as much doing press for his now-cancelled NBC show “The Player.” “There’s always a possibility, you know. It’s in Marvel’s hands. They’re controlling the pace and the flow with that. Conversations have been good. They see the value in it. We see the value in it,” Snipes said at the time. “I’m still in shape enough and fit enough to handle the role. We’ll see how it goes. I don’t really know what’s going to happen to it yet.”
Prior to that, Snipes told reporters at SDCC that he had met with Marvel to discuss returning to the role: “The project is controlled by Marvel and we did have a really productive and a wonderful meeting and we discussed a number of things…I don’t know where it’s on their schedule at this point, that hasn’t been decided. I guess it’s still up in the air.”

The next Marvel Cinematic Universe film, “Doctor Strange,” directed by “Sinister” helmer Scott Derrickson, written by Jon Spaihts, Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill, and starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Tilda Swinton, Mad Mikkelsen, Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong and many others, hits theaters on November 4.

Luke Cage Showrunner Wanted Prince For Final Episode

The musical element of Marvel’s “Luke Cage” on Netflix is one of the highlights of the fan-favorite series. Many legends in the musical business, including Raphael Saadiq, D-Nice, The Delfonics, and others performed on the series, and “Luke Cage” showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker has now revealed that he had a plan in place to convince Prince to appear on the Marvel Television show as well.
The "Swear Jar" was for Prince. I was going to show him the first two episodes and convince him to play in episode 13.
— Cheo Hodari Coker (@cheo_coker) October 5, 2016

The “Swear Jar” in Pop’s Barbershop is referenced heavily in the first two episodes, and is a recurring element throughout the series. Prince, who passed away in April 2016, was a devout Jehovah’s Witness and had his own swear jar in his home. Coker’s plan was to show Prince the first two episodes of “Luke Cage” and have him see the jar being used, hopefully appealing to the performer enough for him to come him on board as a special musical guest.
In lieu of Prince, Coker went with Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings instead, a decision he feels actually worked out in favor of the show’s story.
Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings were the better choice. Because that sequence is about Mariah being crowned.
— Cheo Hodari Coker (@cheo_coker) October 5, 2016
Executive produced by Cheo Hodari Coker, “Marvel’s Luke Cage” stars Mike Colter as Luke Cage, Mahershala Ali as Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple and more. The entire first season is now available to stream on Netflix.

New Thor: Ragnarok Rumors Target Skurge, Valkyrie And More

Even though “Thor: Ragnarok” is still over a year away from arriving in theaters, we still know a bit about it. We know that the film will pair Thor (Chris Hemsworth) up with the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and that the film will contain plenty of elements (and even props!) from the “Planet Hulk” storyline. Now, a few rumors given to Schmoes Know by unnamed sources reveal potentially even more about the Marvel movie’s plot.
But before we get into those rumors, here’s a warning for the potentially major spoilers ahead.
You good? Okay — according the the unsourced rumors, “Thor: Ragnarok” will actually take place on a planet named Ragnarok. That planet will be home to the gladiator-style arenas run by the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum). Fittingly, the rumor says Ragnarok will have a “‘Gladiator’ meets ‘Mad Max’ aesthetic.”
In addition to the setting, the rumors state that Thor and Hulk will have to team up to break out of the arena and will come into conflict with one of Grandmaster’s enforcers, Skurge (Karl Urban). Urban’s take on the classic Thor villain is said to have a large role in the film and — again, potential spoiler alert — will actually assist Banner and Thor in getting off the planet. The pair of Avengers will also run into Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) in the arena, and she will become their ally.
Whether or not those rumors are true remains to be seen, and the detailed specifics of the arena plot still remain a mystery; it’s not even clear if escaping the arena is the entire movie or just, say, act one or act two of a larger story. Seeing as how 2013’s “Thor: The Dark World” ended with Loki (impersonating Odin) in charge of Asgard, it seems like that’s a potential problem Thor and the Hulk would want to address — meaning they have to make it back to Asgard at some point.
Directed by Taika Waititi and starring Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Cate Blanchett, Tessa Thompson, Anthony Hopkins, Karl Urban, Jeff Goldblum and more, “Thor: Ragnarok” opens on November 3, 2017.

Guardians of the Galaxy Leads List of Deadliest Films

The irreverent tone of and catchy soundtrack of “Guardians of the Galaxy” disguised a dark secret: that the 2014 Marvel Studios hit has the highest body count of any film of the past seven decades.
That’s according to a study conducted by financial-services comparison site Go Compare, which tallied the on-screen deaths depicted in Hollywood releases dating back to the 1940s.
RELATED: Disneyland Offers Peek at “Guardians of the Galaxy” Attraction
The butcher’s bill for the James Gunn film stands at a staggering 83,871 fatalities, owing largely to the Nova Corps pilots sacrificed during the climactic battle to defend Xandar from Ronan. Although Go Compare notes its death counts “may not be 100% definitive,” it’s probably safe to say “Guardians of the Galaxy” comes out on top in any reckoning, as its closest competitor on the list is 2014’s “Dracula Untold” with a distant 5,687. And, heck, it doesn’t even have a memorable soundtrack.
“Guardians,” perhaps unsurprisingly, wasn’t the only superhero movie on the list: “Marvel’s The Avengers” is No. 10 with a paltry 2,012 deaths, the direct-to-DVD animated “Wonder Woman” comes in at No. 46 with 360, “Thor: The Dark World” at No. 46 with 331, “Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox” at No. 90 with 244, “Captain America: The First Avengers” at No. 130 with 201, “X-Men: The Last Stand” at No. 134 with 199, “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance” at No. 140 with 196, “Blade II” at No. 147 with 190, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” at No. 162 with 177, “Avengers: Age of Ultron” at No. 170 with 168, “Watchmen” at No. 179 with 160, and the animated “Invincible Iron Man” at No. 196 with 151 dead. (The full list, which goes all the way to No. 653, can be found on the Go Compare website.)
But what about 2013’s “Man of Steel,” which spurred so much discussion about its widespread discussion? It checks in at No. 253 with a mere 134 on-screen fatalities, a number that will surely reignite the debate. “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” failed to even register in the study, which excludes films with death counts of fewer than 50.
Go Compare gathered its information from All Outta Bubblegum, Movie Body Counts, YouTube and Twine, hence the caveat about the statistics not being definitive. The study determined a kill when a body was shown on screen, or else a character was “very heavily implied dead” — meaning he or she was mentioned as dead and never returned, blown up, tossed off a cliff, or “shot/stabbed just off-screen and never heard from again.” And to get even more specific, animals and robots were included only when they were portrayed an actor (yes, voice actors count).
Here are the top 10 deadliest movie, according to the study:
- “Guardians of the Galaxy” (2014) – 83,871 on-screen deaths
- “Dracula Untold” (2014) – 5,687
- “The Sum of All Fears” (2002) – 2,922
- “The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King” (2003) – 2,798
- “300: Rise of An Empire” (2014) – 2,234
- “The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers” (2002) – 1,741
- “The Matrix Revolutions” (2003) – 1,647
- “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies” (2014) – 1,417
- “Braveheart” (1995) – 1,297
- “Marvel’s The Avengers” (2012) – 1,019

Disneyland Offers Peek at Guardians of the Galaxy Attraction

Months before its announced summer 2017 opening, Disneyland has released new images of proposed “Guardians of the Galaxy’ attraction, which will replace the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney California Adventure.
Announced in July at Comic-Con International, three months after plans for the makeover first leaked, “Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT” will transform the 1930s-style Hollywood Tower Hotel into The Collector’s fortress from Marvel Studios’ “Guardians of the Galaxy,” while keeping its elevator-drop ride elements.
RELATED: Chris Pratt Calls “Guardians 2” the “Biggest Spectacle Movie of All Time”
“It really has a lot different design elements that all come together and create what’s really a very striking building,” John Mauro, executive director of Walt Disney Imagineering, said a new video (below). “It’s going to look like a brand-new attraction.”
The model shown in the new images was designed by Walt Disney Imagineering as a “warehouse, fortress-like power plant” that’s intended to be both intimidating and regal. The completed structure is where The Collector displays his newest acquisitions, the Guardians of the Galaxy, who are trapped inside customized display cases. Visitors, aka the Collector’s VIP guests, will board a gantry lift that launches them into a chaotic adventure with Rocket Raccoon to rescue his teammates.
According to Disney, the attraction will be outfitted with new visual and audio effects, as well as music from the film’s hit soundtrack. The company also promises “a variety of randomizes ride experiences,” meaning guests won’t know which adventure they’ll get.

The planned replacement of the 12-year-old Tower of Terror hasn’t been without controversy. Following the Jul;y announcement of the makeover, a petition was launched on Change.org to urge Disney to save the attraction, drawing more than 35,000 supporters. Although the Tower of Terror at Disney California Adventure will close on Jan. 3, versions of the ride will continue to operate at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida, Tokyo DisneySea, and Walt Disney Studios Park in Paris.
Licensing agreements with Universal Orlando predating Disney’s $4 billion purchase of Marvel in 2009 prevent the company’s characters from appearing at Disney World in Florida. “Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT” will provide Marvel with its first permanent anchor at Disneyland.
Directed and co-written by James Gunn, 2014’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” grossed more than $773 million worldwide. Its sequel arrives May 6, 2017.
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan and Kurt Russell.

Benedict Cumberbatch Teases the End of Sherlock

As you might expect, Benedict Cumberbatch is currently actively engaged in promoting “Doctor Strange,” the film in which he stars as the titular Marvel Comics hero. But in an interview for the British edition of the monthly men’s magazine GQ, the actor let slip his thoughts on his other fan-favorite role as the star of the BBC TV series “Sherlock,” which recently concluded filming its fourth season.
RELATED: “Sherlock” Season 4 Teaser Warns Something is Coming
“It might be the end of an era. It feels like the end of an era, to be honest,” the actor stated. “[Season 4] goes to a place where it will be pretty hard to follow on immediately. We never say never on the show. I’d love to revisit it, I’d love to keep revisiting it, I stand by that, but in the immediate future, we all have things that we want to crack on with and we’ve made something very complete as it is, so I think we’ll just wait and see. The idea of never playing him again is really galling.”
All of which seems suitably ambiguous, although it has also been reported that “Sherlock” showrunners Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss have already plotted out the show through to season 5.
Exactly when that might be filmed and released currently remains a matter for speculation.
“Doctor Strange” arrives in theaters on November 4, and Season 4 of “Sherlock” is expected to be released in 2017.

Stranger Things is Reimagined as a Delightfully ’80s Video Game

One thing largely absent from Netflix’s summer sensation “Stranger Things” is much mention of video games, which is somewhat surprising given that the sci-fi horror series is set in 1983.
RELATED: “Stranger Things”: 12 Things to Watch Before Season 2
Fortunately, the CineFix team has fixed that with a nostalgic 8-Bit Cinema interpretation of what “Stranger Things” might have looked like as an ’80s RPG game — complete with a chiptune rendition of the show’s haunting theme music. WARNING: The video is chock-full of spoilers.
Despite its brevity and obvious limitations, the 8-bit version of “Stranger Things” doesn’t skimp on many details: The waffles, the toy Millennium Falcon and the waffles are all there. Oh, and of course the Demogorgon, which here is as cute as it is menacing.
Sadly, the game as depicted doesn’t exist … at least not yet. Maybe this is something else for Netflix to consider financing ahead of “Stranger Things” Season 2?
The second season is expected to film from October to April in Atlanta, and introduce a handful of new characters to the mix, including tough and cautious 13-year-old Max and her Camaro-driving stepbrother Billy, as well as the 30-something Roman, who’s looking to avenge a loss he suffered in childhood.
“Stranger Things” will air sometime in 2017 on Netflix.

Stephen Amell Teases Deathstroke’s Return For Arrow’s 100th Episode

As if appearances by Jamey Sheridan as Robert Queen and Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance weren’t enough for “Arrow’s” milestone 100th episode, star Stephen Amell has teased another big return: Deathstroke.
The actor built up to the reveal by tweeting photos of himself, and then himself and co-star David Ramsey, with a green silhouette with a question mark and the words “Mystery Guest,” leading numerous fans on Twitter to joke that the Riddler will make an appearance in Center City. However, Amell ended the mystery this afternoon with a photo of himself sitting on a park bench with Deathstroke.
— Stephen Amell (@StephenAmell) September 26, 2016
Deathstroke, aka Slade Wilson, last appeared in the Season 3 episode “The Return.” Played by Manu Bennett, the fan-favorite character was a mentor and ally of Oliver Queen on the island, only to later become his sworn enemy. Oliver seemingly killed Slade by stabbing him the eye, but he survived and returned five years later as the mercenary Deathstroke, who led an assault of Starling City and murdered Moira Queen.
Also starring Emily Bett Rickards, Willa Holland, David Ramsey and Echo Kellum, the fifth season of “Arrow” premiers Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW. The 100th episode is expected to air in December as part of the crossover with “The Flash,” “Supergirl” and “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.”

Supergirl Will Not Merge With Arrowverse
With the move from CBS to the CW and the announced crossover event, many have speculated that the Supergirl universe would merge with the Arrowverse (Arrow, Flash, Legends of Tomorrow), but executive producer Andrew Kreisberg has told EW.com that there is no permanent merger planned.
Not for her entire world, but Kara will be traveling from her dimension to our dimension, “our” being the world that The Flash, Arrow, and Legends lives in.
So we won’t be seeing Flash race Superman anytime soon. Though the door to future crossovers seems open, a full on merger of the two universes isn’t happening.
Kevin Smith Talks Batman V Superman
AMC brought back the cast of Comic Book Men to New York Comic Con as they prepare for the launch of season 6. The show sees Walt Flanagan try and manage the sometimes wild behaviors of Bryan Johnson (I’m not even supposed to be here, as I don’t work at the store), Ming Chen and walking comic book encyclopedia Mike Zapcic.
In the past, the unscripted show has seen the cast members receive personal training from Lou Ferrigno, Challenge each other at a flea market and speak to visitors with exceptional collections of the world of fandom. The new season promises more of the same with appearances from Tom Cavanagh, Katrina Law and even a ride in the BatBoat.
The real interest from the panel was when Kevin Smith, known for his openness on any subject was questioned about Batman vs Superman and what he thought. Whilst Smith, who is a close friend of Ben Affleck, was complimentary about this version of Batman he was quick to state “I always wanted a movie with Batman and Superman and I was so happy to see them on screen together” he followed that up with the old fable “be careful what you wish for”.
Smith recently finished directing his second episode of Flash for WB also followed up with how the Superman he always wanted to see is much closer to what we will get in the newest season of Supergirl.
Oculus Touch Dated For This Year And Will Cost $200
The Oculus Touch is a really cool controller. There is something very intuitive about the way it works, and once it releases, it will add something to the Rift that had it lagging behind the Vive.
We now have a date on the product too, as it was announced yesterday that the Oculus Touch would be launching on December 6th, 2016. Those who pre-ordered the Rift before it came out will have priority on the controllers, which are priced at $200.
There is also a new sensor making for better room scale wich will launch alongside the controllers for $80.
These, on top of the headset, actually seem to make the whole Oculus set up more expensive than the Vive, shifting the dynamic of the high end VR headsets. This should be interesting to see play out.
Edit: I forgot to crucially mention that to offset the cost of the Touch and the new sensor, Oculus have reduced the minimum specs of using the headset. This means that VR has opened up to a whole bunch of new PC users, or that users looking to buy a new PC wouldn’t have to invest so much (there is a $499 Oculus capable machine being made by CyberPowerPC and AMD). It is said that anything with a Nvidia 960 or greater and an intel i3-6100 (or AMD FX4350 should now be able to run Oculus.
Chris Pine Has Put An End To A Long Running DCEU Rumour About His Wonder Woman Character
Chris Pine is playing Steve Trevor in the upcoming Wonder Woman movie. He is a big star to get into a superhero movie, and usually, big stars in superhero movies stick around for a while.
That is why there have been a lot of rumours about the actor coming back to the modern timeline in the DCEU despite Trevor being alive during World War II. Be it by way of timetravel or a grandson, talk of his return has been ever present.
Seems we have an answer too now. Speaking to Huffington Post, Pine commented on the rumour, and if we could expect to see him back, saying:
No.
… well, then. That is pretty clear. I guess we can throw that one out the window.

There Could Be More Planet Of The Apes Films Even After Caesar
The notion of that there would be a trilogy of Planet of the Apes films has been around for quite some time. Matt Reeves has talked about an arc with the films, and especially with Caesar.
However, it seems the franchise might have some legs yet. Speaking too ScreenRant, both Reeves and Andy Serkis talked about the story going forward past Caesar. Reeves said:
It’s all one universe and Caesar has a very important part in ape history. We think of him being the seminal figure in ape history like Moses but as the idea, that tapestry, extends outward, there are all kinds of new characters in this story that you could absolutely follow. It’s really about this trajectory that all of the apes are on, that all of the characters are on, and have been very intentionally centered around Caesar, but the universe is meant to be larger than just him as well.
Serkis adds:
The way that all of the characters are drawn is so complete and nuanced, the way that Woody Harrelson’s character, the way that Maurice evolves, or Rocket, all of their journeys, should you choose, you could follow the story from any point of view and it would make total emotional, psychological, and philosophical sense.
Serkis even went on to say he would consider coming back to the franchise as a completely different character, which he obviously could do, as Caesar is a digital creation. He said:
It would be an extraordinary thing to do
I really do love this franchise at the moment and I’m very eager to see where this franchise is after this arc of Caesar is done. It sounds weird to continue the films without him, but both Reeves and Serkis are right. This is a massive universe with lots of stories. I’m sure there is a good movie in it centered somewhere else.

He also said that he could quite easily see it going up to twelve issues as the creative team keep adding new elements.

Han Solo Film’s Lead Female Role Is Down To Three Actresses With Rumours Of Universe Character Swirling
The ‘young Han Solo movie‘ seems to be slowly but surely assembling its cast and shaping up. We have our Han, but now we need to start filling out the rest of the cast.
It seems we are close to a female lead too. Variety are reporting that Tessa Thompson, Naomi Scott and Zoe Kravitz. The role wasn’t revealed, but the current theory is that it would be Solo’s “wife” Sana Starros.
The character was added to the Star Wars universe via the comics, and is a fun character from his past. The two were said to get married as a cover for a robbery, but Solo claims they never officially tied the knot. There is some legs in that story if that is where this is indeed going.

[Updated] Wolverine 3 Is Called Logan And We Get A Ton Of Interesting Details As Director Shows Off Page Of Script, (And Poster!)
So this is a neat little look into the next Wolverine movie.
Director James Mangold has tweeted out the second page of the screenplay and there is a bunch to learn from it. Essentially, there is swear word right off the top, and a big description about how goons are almost certainly going to die in crunch and horrible ways. I’d assume this is pointing to the movie being rated R.
Also, the film is called Logan (via Empire) which I kind of dig as a title. It’s not clear if this will stay the name, but that is certainly the watermark on the script.
Secondly, there are defintely shades of the Old Man Logan run in here, with it being revealed that the character is a little older and the strength of his healing factor is fading. This has turned him into an alcoholic as understandably, he is constantly in pain.

Why Did Ben Affleck Decide To Use Deathstroke In The Batman
While I’m not convinced that Deathstroke is the ‘main bad guy’ in The Batman, he is going to be a pretty unique flavour considering we’ve never seen him in a film before.
That leads to the question, ‘why did director Ben Affleck decide to go with the assassin?’ Speaking to Collider in a recent interview, he revealed why he likes the match up, but also, what version of the character he is drawing from. He said:
I just had an instinctive feeling that he would match up with [Batman] well. You know, I’m a big admirer of that character as well, especially in the New 52, the way that they did Deathstroke, and I thought that it could work.
So there you go. We are probably looking at the New 52 version of the character.
A fight between Batman and Deathstroke is always fun to see play out, thanks to the physicality and speed of both, so I hope we get a nice juicy fist fight between the two.
Arrow’s 100th Episode Will Feature Katie Cassidy

Oliver Queen’s father won’t be the only character seemingly returning from the grave for “Arrow’s” milestone 100th episode. Actress Katie Cassidy has confirmed she’ll also appear in the episode, which is part of the crossover event with “The Flash,” “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and “Supergirl.”
Cassidy shared an image on her Facebook page that depicts her name, the “Arrow” logo, and the number 100. She also added “100 #arrow” to her status update.
Her character Laurel Lance, aka Black Canary, was killed off last season, only for Cassidy to sign a deal in July to appear as a series regular across all of the network’s DC Comics-based dramas. John Barrowman and Wentworth Miller made similar agreements. This allows the producers to pick and choose when and where they would like Black Canary to appear next, not unlike in comic books, where a hero can guest star in any number of titles.
At the time her new contract was announced, it was also revealed Cassidy will appear in “Arrow’s” Season Five premiere. The 100th episode will air in December.
Starring Stephen Amell, Emily Bett Rickards, Willa Holland, David Ramsey and Echo Kellum, “Arrow” kicks off its fifth season Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.

FXX’s New Simpsons Marathon Will Be Longest Marathon Ever

After decades on-air, “The Simpsons” has become an integral part of American culture. Thanks to its incredible staying power, there are enough episodes to binge watch for days on end — and die-hard fans will soon have a chance to do exactly that.
In the spirit of the holidays (and to commemorate the longevity of the iconic cartoon), FXX will be airing every episode from the show’s 27-season run in successive, chronological order. The 600-episode marathon will begin at 12:00 PM ET on Thursday, November 24, and will conclude 12:00 AM ET on Wednesday, December 6. For those wondering, that’s a 300-hour marathon — approximately 13 days. That makes it the longest TV marathon in history.
This is the longest “The Simpsons” marathon ever and surpasses FXX’s previous 552-episode marathon that ran in 2014. The “Every. Simpsons. Ever.” marathon, as it’s been dubbed, is also a tribute to the creative talent that has made the Simpsons such a well-loved classic.
“Doing this is an act of true fandom,” said FX Networks President and COO Chuck Saftler, “honoring Jim Brooks, Matt Groening, Al Jean, all the writers, artists, directors, people behind the scenes and the ridiculously talented voice actors who have brought this series to life and kept it at the pinnacle of artistic excellence these past 27+ seasons.”
And don’t forget that new episodes of the show are still being made. Season 28 of “The Simpsons” will debut at 8:00 PM ET, Sept. 25 on Fox and will feature comedian Amy Schumer in a guest role.

“Arrow” showrunner Marc Guggenheim has shared a very interesting clue from “Arrow’s” 100th episode table read. The tweet featured an image of various “Arrow” cast members, including Stephen Amell, Emily Bett Rickards, Willa Holland, Echo Kellum, newcomers Rick Gonzalez and Joe Dinico, and a surprisingly familiar face: Jamey Sheridan.
Sheridan played Robert Queen in “Arrow’s” first season, which leads us to wonder: what could bring him back for Season Five?
RELATED: Arrow S5 Video Teases Cody Rhodes’ Debut, Oliver’s Vigilante Trainees
There are two obvious choices for Sheridan’s return for the 100th episode. One would be a flashback scene with Oliver, perhaps a previously unseen moment from the boat crash. The second choice would be that due to Barry changing the timeline on “The Flash,” Robert Queen survived and Oliver did not. This would allow Robert Queen to take on the Thomas Wayne/Batman role from the “Flashpoint” comic.
Unfortunately, Guggenheim debunked both of these theories in the text of his tweet saying: “No Flashpoint. No Flashbacks.”
Arrow 100th Episode Table Read. No Flashpoint. No flashbacks. pic.twitter.com/bs4KXiPVNx
— Marc Guggenheim (@mguggenheim) September 23, 2016
If Robert is not appearing in a pre-island flashback, and he’s not alive due to the alternate timeline of Flashpoint, we can think of two other possibilites. Oliver could be hallucinating Robert (which would not be uncommon for “Arrow,”), or he could be Earth-2’s Robert Queen. “The Flash” has already established that Robert survived the sinking of the Queen’s Gambit on Earth-2 via a news report which stated that the Earth-2 Green Arrow had been unmasked as Robert Queen, who took up the vigilante mask after the death of his son Oliver.
With Oliver firmly entrenched as Earth-1’s Green Arrow, and his father portraying Earth-2’s Green Arrow, the anniversary episode would make the perfect place for an epic father/son Green Arrow team-up. “Arrow’s” 100th episode is also part of the planned four-part crossover between “The Flash,” “Supergirl,” “Arrow,” and “Legends of Tomorrow,” so anything could happen, especially with both Earth-2 and Flashpoint in the mix.
“Arrow” Season Five premieres on October 5; the 100th episode airs in December.

Russian Superhero Movie Guardians Gets a Second Trailer, Some Context
cyrus.mortazaviBear shoot chain gun! How can this be?!

The upcoming “Guardians: Soviet Union Superheroes” movie has been the talk of the town with its unique approach to the big budget superhero genre, killer mechanical spider robots and chain gun toting man-bear, but the first full trailer left viewers understandably perplexed. A new trailer effectively rehashes everything from the first, but adds a preamble that provides some much-needed context.
The new trailer includes a voiceover that explains the overall plot of the film and why its four protagonists–Kseniya (Alina Lanina), Arsus (Anton Pampushnyy), Khan (Sanzhar Madiyev) and Ler (Sebastien Sisak)–are capable of superhuman feats; some were born with their powers and others were forcibly altered. The heroes served Russia when it was the Soviet Union, but fell back into the shadows when the regime collapsed.

The second trailer also explains that the wiry half-man, half-machine who might have been leading a militia to attack cities in the first trailer (it wasn’t totally clear) is the main antagonist after all, described as an “evil [that] is rising from the shadows of the past.”
While the first trailer was visually impactful and a big hit online, it left out much of the aforementioned information, leaving viewers to guess at the significance of each scene. As the trailer’s popularity has increased, it’s no surprise the film’s production company, Enjoy Movies, has issued a much more informative second trailer for English speaking audiences.
“Guardians: Soviet Union Superheroes” debuts internationally February 23, 2017. There is presently no release date for the United States.

Daniel Craig Is Still The Number One Choice For Bond 25
There has been a lot of uncertainty surrounding Daniel Craig as Bond in the upcoming movie. The actor seemed to make it pretty clear that he didn’t want to come back to the role in the junket circuit for Spectre.
However, it seems he isn’t out of the running for Bond 25 yet. Speaking on BBC Radio 4. Callum McDougall who has worked on Bond for nearly a decade said that producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson still want Craig to return. He said the actor is:
absolutely the first choice
before adding:
I know they’re hoping for him to come back
It feels like a good time to make a clean break for the series to me, so I’m personally hoping they go in a different direction. Having said that, Craig is great in the role, so it is hardly a disaster if he stays. Hopefully this is resolved in the near future.
Jon Favreau And Disney Are Making A ‘Live Action’ Version Of The Lion King Next
Back when The Jungle Book came out earlier this year, I started really thinking about a ‘live action’ version of the Lion King. The animal work done in Jon Favreau‘s film was really convincing and well done, so it seemed like a natural progression to think about re-doing the Lion King.
Well, it looks like Favreau might indeed be taking on 1994 animated film. He has just sent out this cryptic tweet. It’s mentions his next project and a pretty obvious hint towards the film.
Take a look:
Excited for my next project ????????

I’d also say with Disney’s recent success at doing live action versions of animated classics, and Favreau’s work on The Jungle Book, it wouldn’t be too much to assume this would be going down the photorealistic route.
Of course, this could be referencing Prince John in Robin Hood, or a really odd way to reannounce The Magic Kingdom, but I doubt it. If this really is a live action Lion King, I’m in. I’m all the way in.
[Edit: And here is the confirmation. Interestingly, there is no 100% confirmation that Favreau is directing, instead Disney just say they are ‘joining forces’. I assume this means he is directing, but there is nothing here that says it outright.

Two Sherlock Season 4 Episodes Get Titles As The Third Remains A Mystery
Sherlock Season 4 is barrelling down on us now, with the season set for next year. This comes after a big ol’ gap between seasons and a pretty intriguing cliffhanger to boot.
Well, you can get your detective hats on now, as the first two episode titles have been revealed. This comes from the official Facebook page of the show, and it was has been announced that episode one will be called The Six Thatchers and episode two will be called The Lying Detective.
Take a look:
Perhaps the most interesting thing here is that the third episode’s title is remaining a mystery. (Or is actually called ‘?’) I assume this is because this would give something away about where the show goes. Something to puzzle over, eh?

[Spoilers] The Russo Brothers Explain Why All The Avangers Remain At The End Of Civil War
[Some Spoilers for Captain America: Civil War here.]
Before Captain America: Civil War came out, there was a lot of talk about one of the Avengers dying. Lots of people thought it would be Captain America, others Cody James Rhodes, but in the end, everyone escaped the fight with their life.
So, why did no one end up getting killed? Speaking at a Q&A after a creening, the Russo Brothers, who directed the film, were fielded that very question. Hitflix were there for the quote, in which they explain it didn’t exactly fit with the thematic purpose of the movie. Joe Russo said:
We talked about lots of potential characters dying at the end of the movie. And we thought that it would undercut what is really the rich tension of the movie, which is this is Kramer vs Kramer. It’s about a divorce. If somebody dies, it would create empathy, which would change and allow for repair, and we didn’t want to do that.
Anthony Russo added:
The tragedy is the family falls apart. Not that the family falls apart and then somebody dies.
And you know? That is fair enough. This makes total sense to me, and adding a death to the end of the film cheaply wouldn’t have been a great move, especially as a move like that is likely to bring a cew together more than anything.
[Edit: Yes…I did just accidentally refer to James Rhodes as wrestler Cody Rhodes. I shouldn’t read about Superstars moving brands before writing a story!]

Game Of Thrones Now The Most Awarded Primetime Show At The Emmys Ever
Last night the Emmys came and went, with a whole bunch of great TV being awarded. One of the big winners was Game of Thrones, and it wasn’t just any sweep for the show as it has now passed a siginificant milestone.
The show picked up 13 Emmys of the 22 it was nominated for, bringing its all time total to 38, beating out Frasier as the previously most awarded drama show ever (SNL has 44 awards.) Perhaps most importantly for the show, it picked up best Drama for the second year in a row, while the Battle of the Bastards episode won Best Drama Writing and Best Directing.
For me, I thought Season 6 was as strong as the show has ever been, so its great to see it getting applause for really pulling the trigger this season.
With two more seasons to go of Game of Thrones, I wonder if it could pip SNL‘s 44 all time awards? Doesn’t seem impossible at all.

Arrow To Face Prometheus In Season Five
cyrus.mortazaviThat could be really cool
As if Oliver Queen did not have enough to do in assembling a new Team Arrow and running Star City as its mayor in the upcoming fifth season, Entertainment Weekly reports he will face off against Prometheus.
Of course, there’s some confusion as to which Prometheus Ollie will face. The site referred to the character as “mysterious” and there are three villains in the DC Universe who adopted the Titanic moniker.
Len Wein and artist Paris Cullins created the first Prometheus, Curt Calhoun, in a 1986 issue of Blue Beetle. The second, and perhaps best known, debuted as part of the New Year’s Evil fifth-week event in 1998. Created by Grant Morrison and Arnie Jorgensen this Prometheus was known for his gadgets and ability to mimic any fighting style via an information download. The character was impersonated by Chad Graham for a time until the second — and still unnamed — Prometheus returned.
Of course, it is possible this Prometheus is a complete new character using the name.
Arrow returns October 5th on The CW.
