AITA for telling my parents that they ruined NY celebration after they kicked my husband out over a joke?

by /u/ThrowRAhusband2

I've been married to my 2nd Husband "Mike" for 4 years now. He's a jokester and loves to crack jokes all the time. He especially like to joke with my brother "Ethan" and his wife. Ethan used to be okay with it til he started complaining about Mike taking it too far with his jokes.

Some context about Ethan. He and his wife couldn't have kids so they adopted a boy "Joey" 2 years ago. Mike has been making silly, lighthearted jokes that involving Joey's bio parents as a way to mess with Ethan and his wife. I already talked to Mike and I tell you that he's 100%means no harm and he was just trying to get them to react.

So fast forward to NYE, my parents hosted a big celebratory dinner and Ethan and his wife came. While we were eating dinner, Mike decided to tell a knock-knock joke to Ethan. He said "Knock knock.." Ethan laughed and said "Who's there?". Mike replied "Joey's bio parents" then he bursted out laughing. Silence took over and Ethan's facial experssions changed. His wife called Mike an "idiot" to which Mike replied with "Hey...Relax it was just a joke". An argument ensued and dinner was paused. My parents suddenly told Mik to leave which I thought was too harsh. I tried to speak to them and get them to calm down but mom insisted that Mike leave. We left and Mike was complaining the whole time about how they overreacted. I called mom later and she told me Mike was out of line with his hurtful jokes about this touchy topic and told me I was wrong for defending him and saying he was just joking. She said he ruined NY for the family but I told her it was her and dad who ruined NY celebration for escalating the situation and kicking him out. I told her he could talk to them but again they were the ones who ruined NY celebration. She called me delusional for this statement and hung up.

We haven't talked to them for days. I tried contacting Ethan but no response.

[Spoiler ?] What is Cressa tal's incentive for rescuing the Kavor ?

by /u/Reviax-

TLDR; Cressa Tal shouldn't be spending this much money on rescuing pacifists. She is probably going to use their DNA to corrupt the Grineer Queens cloning pits. Well that's my theory anyway.

Steel meridian is fighting a guerrilla war against the grineer queens and their armies. Cressa tal has to rely on random genetic mutations in finding her soldiers, And probably has to spend a lot of money keeping them alive thanks to cloning decay syndrome.

The kavor are a bunch of grineer inflicted with a genetic mutation which caused pacifism, They are still affected by the cloning decay virus. Cressa tal is financing a massive operation to save pacifists in the middle of a guerilla war.

Members of Steel Meridian set aside their former allegiances to defend those who cannot defend themselves.

Yet this would probably cut very deeply into their war efforts and would take away from them protecting colonies on other planets, Possibly taking away from protecting people without cloning decay syndrome.

The cost of saving the Kavor massively outways the benefit of saving them for the point of saving them.

Puts tin foil hat on

This leads me to believe that Cressa tal is using the kavor for something more than political reasons. The most obvious of the reasons? The ability to synthesize a Pacifism genome and use it to corrupt the cloning pits on Uranus. Essentially using the Kavor's genetic makeup as a bioweapon. This would be a huge strategic gain for Cressa Tal and would dramatically offset the cost of rescuing the Kavor.

Thoughts ? Opinions ? I apologize if this doesn't make much sense.

Maximizing Condition Overload

by /u/demigodspite

After putting together a rough sketch of a build with a complete write-up, I’ve determined that it would be worthwhile to write up as comprehensive a guide as I can for maximizing condition overload (given what I know). Links to my previous build below.

FAIR WARNING: I’ve only just recently gotten to the stage of the game where you do sorties every day. I don’t even have condition overload yet. I’m designing this to see if it’s worthwhile to build around, if it’s fun, and for the sake of experimentation and learning.

http://warframe-builder.com/Primary_Weapons/Builder/Zhuge/t_30_22200002_132-0-5-134-7-5-137-1-10-140-2-5-141-5-5-159-3-5-329-4-3-355-6-3_132-8-137-7-140-5-159-9-329-7-141-11-355-7-134-6/en/2-0-92/120272/0

http://warframe-builder.com/Melee_Weapons/Builder/Mios/t_30_200000002_244-1-5-247-0-5-266-3-3-327-4-3-358-2-3-606-8-3-793-7-5-796-5-3-799-6-9_247-5-244-9-358-7-266-7-327-7-796-5-799-15-793-15-606-10/en/4-0-92/120392/0

Background Info

The first thing to know is that condition overload supposedly works in a multiplicative manner, according to the wiki. This means every 60% bonus on damage after the first is actually adding exponentially more. The second thing to know is that the only procs that can get stacked this way are puncture, slash, cold, electricity, heat, toxin, magnetic, radiation, and viral. That’s nine damage types total. Three are combined elements, four are basic elements, and the last two are generic damage types. Before diving into the real nitty-gritty, it’s also good to know that physical damages proc four times as much as the elemental damage types.

I do suspect that the wiki’s statements about condition overload could be outdated or just wrong. However, I like status effects anyway, so proccing them a lot is reward enough. I can’t recommend this build to anyone else unless they’re just looking to have fun with an unusual build. In an ideal situation, I’ll proc every element, and if the wiki is right, I think the damage should be absurd at that point, or in higher level content, just viable.

The main thing to consider when looking to get every proc at once is time-frame. You need to proc fast, proc often, and ideally have procs that last. Another point of concern is that you can’t really put this many procs in one place. While you can put up to eight elemental mods on one weapon, that weapon would quickly become worthless. As a secondary goal, I’d like to be minimal about how much I force into any one weapon, and I’m even willing to sacrifice my chances of having a given proc to some extent to maintain a viable build. Something viable is my end goal after all.

Given that the sources must be diversified, only frames with procs are viable. Fortunately, this is common. Saryn is arguably the best fit, given that not only does she have two different relevant status effects in her kit (viral and toxin), but she also extends the duration of status effects. However, if there’s cause to get toxin and/or viral out of my weapons, then I don’t need to play saryn. Ember, frost, volt, and many other element-themed frames are fine, just as you’d guess. Even the likes of vauban is fine, since he can do magnetic, radiation, and electric procs.

The rest of the procs need to come from weapons. High status chance is probably the most important aspect. High rate of fire comes second, and clip size is something to consider. Finally, the melee weapon must not be trash as the end goal is to get a huge multiplier on its damage. I see two options here: you can load up a primary weapon with status effects (or perhaps a secondary weapon), use that for several procs, and then switch to melee; OR you could use speed holster and the like to go through ALL of your weapons. While I have my doubts, that second option could be really viable given how well it diversifies. For now, I’ll focus on the first option as it’s somewhat less complicated and requires less of a dump in resources.

The Weapons

Before diving in to the main weapon, the melee weapon needs to be figured out. I’m building around the melee weapon, plus there are some huge complications it presents. First of all, puncture and slash have to be found somewhere in the main weapon and melee weapon. The natural course is to pick one weapon for each damage type. There are certain weapons that deal elemental damage, though. Some of these, such as the lacera, have a very high status chance. They also get around the problem of having physical damage types proccing four times as much. But they present a huge problem: completely losing out on puncture or slash. There is potential recourse; in that you could have one weapon proc both puncture and slash. I’ll return to that later.

At least one weapon proves a natural fit as it provides both a key physical damage type and an elemental type. Lesion. It starts with just slash and then it adds toxin after it procs. The toxin is added to its list of damage types like another mod stapled onto the end. (I misread some comments about this weapon before and thought it was added to the beginning, which would lead to a cluster of weirdness. I wasted time writing up a whole lot of nothing based on that info. In short, all of the damage types would have changed after juts one proc.) I could use this toxin in a number of ways. First, I could just use it to get toxin alone. Second, I could use it to go from one basic element type to a combined element type. Third, I could use it to increase my chances of proccing a given toxin-based element.

My main weapon is likely going to get in a lot more procs than my melee as last I checked machine guns are faster than swords. I also would like to have the procs from my main weapon last a while, since this gives me more time to get in the other procs and increase my damage multiplier. So, my course of action should be emptying a clip into an enemy or set of enemies, followed by hacking away. Radiation has easily the longest duration at 12 seconds. Unfortunately, it’s not that helpful to proc it several times on the same target. The least useful proc is magnetic, which won’t stack in any way and only lasts 4 seconds. I’d rather have it on the melee, and in the case of lesion, before the proc.

In my first attempt at this build, I used the zhuge. I’m biased toward the weapon as it’s a crossbow with a cool name. It does have an impressive 35% status chance and a decent rate of fire. That aside, there are other options. Shotguns, for instance, can get many more procs since each pellet has a chance to proc. That is very likely the way to go. As long as we can stay in relevant damage types.

Laying Out Options

At this point, I feel it may be helpful to pool some options together. I’ll try to roughly categorize them for convenience sake.

Elemental main: Phage (viral shotgun), Torid (toxic grenade launcher), Amprex (electric machine gun), Ignis (flamethrower), Glaxion (cold machine gun), Quanta Vandal (electric rifle), Staticor (radiation pistol), Pox (toxin throwing), Synoid Gammacor (magnetic pistol)

Puncture/Slash high status main: Vaykor Hek (puncture), Kohm (slash), Zhuge (puncture)

Puncture AND Slash main: Prisma Grakata

Elemental melee: Lacera (electric whip), Twin Basolk (fire axe), Secura Lecta (the other electric whip)

Puncture/Slash melee: Vaykor Sydon (puncture), Tonbo (slash)

Puncture AND Slash melee: Destreza (only in speed holster build), Mios

Weird Melee: Lesion, Sheev, Zenistar

In my first build I covered puncture, radiation, and cold with a zhuge. I got slash, magnetic, and heat on the melee. I hit electric with a sentinel weapon (not great) and got toxic and viral with saryn. I hit all nine but with a lot of likely consistency issues. I think it can be helped along a bit.

Moving puncture and slash to the same weapon is actually a pretty great option, because then elements can be on the other weapon without competing. My pairings can go as follows taking this route:

Prisma Grakata + Elemental melee OR Mios + Elemental main

Not a lot of wiggle room. I forgive myself if I don’t take these routes. For argument’s sake, let’s say I did. Here are some examples.

Slash, puncture, radiation, and cold from a prisma grakata. Magnetic and heat from lacera. Electric from sentinel vulklok. Toxin and viral from saryn.

Radiation and cold from a glaxion. Slash, puncture, magnetic and heat from mios. Electric from sentinel. Toxin and viral from saryn.

Viral, radiation, and cold from phage. Slash, puncture, magnetic, and heat from mios. Electric from sentinel. Magnetic and radiation from vauban. (Toxin from mios sometimes.)

Actually. Let’s stop on that last example. Vauban can do both magnetic and radiation procs, plus the occasional electric proc. He’s not strictly better than saryn as I was hitting every element anyway, but it does provide some excellent support.

If I wanted to dedicate my secondary weapon to this build rather than my primary, I could use a staticor. It procs often with a combined element and is good in its own right. As an aside, I will say that if one wants the three relevant combined elements all on one weapon, they’d have to go with a magnetic weapon. That way you could still combine heat and electric for radiation and toxin and cold for viral. With the staticor, the cold element you put on is going to go toward viral or magnetic, but it can’t go to both.

That would leave the synoid gammacor for maxing out on combined elements. You’d get radiation, viral, and magnetic from the gammacor. You could cover puncture, slash, and heat with the mios. This is another build wherein you’d be using the mios to occasionally proc toxin. You could also use toxic flight, though at that point you’re spending time bullet jumping. Electricity gets covered by a diriga with retribution doing what it can. I’d cover cold with frost.

Putting It All Together

What is clear to me when I look at all of this is that it’s not too hard to get every relevant damage type onto one build, but the overall consistency is going to depend on numerous factors that could only be worked out with a lot of math and playtesting. There are options that I, for one, am discounting. I can’t get a zenistar and the sheev is also unreasonable for me. To keep things brief, I’m just going to list a new build that I’ll likely try.

http://warframe-builder.com/Primary_Weapons/Builder/Zhuge/t_30_22034000_131-4-5-132-0-5-137-1-10-141-3-5-329-2-3-355-5-3-405-7-5-415-6-3_132-8-137-7-329-7-141-6-131-6-355-7-415-7-405-9/en/2-0-92/120444/0

This is yet another (really, the same) zhuge providing Puncture, Radiation, and Cold. Here I’ve re-balanced the damage spread to proc its various effects more evenly. At the cost of a little damage, I put continuous misery on. It only makes sense given what I’m trying to accomplish.

http://warframe-builder.com/Melee_Weapons/Builder/Lesion/t_30_200002401_245-3-5-247-0-5-266-2-3-311-8-3-327-4-3-358-1-3-412-5-10-793-7-5-799-6-10_247-5-358-7-266-7-245-11-327-7-412-8-799-8-793-15-311-10/en/4-0-100/120442/0

I cover Slash, Magnetic, and Heat with a lesion. After it gets in one proc, the Toxin gets added. It combines with the heat (cutting off my access to heat temporarily) to produce gas. In this version I take the ill-advised path of cutting fury for the sake of having more heat and lasting sting. The increased heat is so that I have a higher chance of proccing heat in-between having gas damage.

http://warframe-builder.com/Sentinels/Builder/Diriga/f_30_5000550005_277-3-5-284-2-8-286-5-2-590-0-5-591-9-5-592-4-5_590-4-f-f-284-10-277-7-592-4-286-2-f-f-f-f-f-f-591-3/en/11-0-15/120447/0

I try to cover electricity with a diriga. It’s anything but consistent, especially since it will die often.

http://warframe-builder.com/Sentinel_Weapons/Builder/Vulklok/t_30_00000000_132-5-5-137-4-8-149-3-5-153-1-3-265-0-3-415-2-3_265-7-153-9-415-7-149-9-137-12-132-15-f-f-f-f/en/12-0-10/120446/0

The vulklok has a high status chance to begin with, so it’s actually not too bad for this purpose. It’s the slowest ever, though, so don’t expect too much from it.

http://warframe-builder.com/Warframes/Builder/Saryn_Prime/t_30_0342040040_1-4-7-2-5-8-6-3-5-12-6-7-27-9-3-49-2-8-51-8-5-256-0-3-391-7-3-612-1-5_256-9-612-5-49-7-6-6-1-11-2-5-12-13-391-9-51-14-27-9_0/en/1-0-44/120449/0

Saryn prime will provide Viral and extra Toxin. Honestly, I don’t know where to begin with building warframes. I think I would build range far less than most other saryns since the only time this build would really shine is when trying to take down one ridiculously tough target. This build is something along the lines of what I’m comfortable with. It’s also limited by what I see as mods within my grasp. I don’t think retribution adds much consistency, but it’s another one to consider.
