DeviantArt user ceemdee has made a yearly tradition of sculpting some rad-as-hell games into the sides of pumpkins for Halloween, here's just a few works. There's a "scary" amount of talent on display here. That wasn't a cute Halloween joke, these carvings are so good I'm having a goddamn existential crisis.

Dabei...
Mystery Science Theater 3000 was taken from us too soon. We all miss the wisecracks and bad movies. Well, Manos: The Hands of Fate must be at work because now it is making a comeback thanks to a deal struck by Vimeo to stream 80 episodes of the series.
Apparently the company is working to clear the rights for the rest of the episodes so that eventually they can have all 197 of MST3K available. However, boarding the Satellite of Love to hang out with Joel, Mike and the bots will cost you.
The episodes are available individually for $2.99 to rent or $9.99 to purchase. You can also get them all for $300. Totally worth it based on the amount of laughing you will do.
Etsy seller PugsnLegos not only has a cool name, but they also have this cool lamp/night light for sale. It looks like an awesome piece of nerd furniture.
As if this lamp weren’t cool enough on it’s own, it is also made of LEGO. Use it to hold your keys, wallet or whatever you want as it shines like a beacon of hope in your dimly-lit gamer home. The LED lights are operated by remote control. You can turn the light on and off, change the color, turn the brightness up or down, and even do some color changing effects.
Sadly, this lamp will cost you $2,200(USD), but the seller also has another cool Mario lamp and a cool Pac-Man version which aren’t nearly as expensive. These lamps are some classy gamer lighting. I’m gonna start saving some money right now.
Etsy seller Theworldisagameboy turns the classic Nintendo handheld into a game system and a toy in one. Check out the TMNT Michelangelo version that he made. It has it’s own Oven Fresh PIZZA! cartridge, of course.
These Game Boys are still fully functional and great to display. The TMNT edition will set you back about $263(USD). He also has a Darth Vader version and an amazing Back to the Future DeLorean with a Flux Capacitor cartridge. That one is my favorite. I love the detail.
Great work. It takes a good eye to do this sort of thing. You can’t just stick a Vader head and some arms on an Game Boy and expect it to turn out this good.
If you have played the Rayman: Raving Rabbids games, you might be familiar with these little insane bunny looking creatures. I always enjoyed the cut scenes with these little guys more than the games – so I was actually excited to see the new cartoon featuring them.
I’ve watched it with my daughter many times, and it is pretty funny. If you are a fan of Rabbids, you will want this Rabbids Super Plunger Sound Blaster device. It looks like a little pistol with a Rabbids head sticking out of the front.
Rather than shooting anything, it makes sound effects when you pull the trigger. It has three modes including Bwaaah, Fart, and Prank. Prank mode lets you pull the trigger for five seconds. After you set the plunger down for 20 seconds, it will start to make random sounds. You can pick this gem up for $21.99(USD) at ThinkGeek, happy Bwaaahing!
Add some video game inspired flair to your room with this cool Pac-Man light box. It lights up with six different colors and has an image of the Pac-Man maze on top. This is going to look good in your game room.
During the day, the box is glossy black and the cut-out Pac-Man and ghosts are white, but at night, with a white light underneath it, they light up in different colors. The dots light up orange. Pretty sweet. This 6 inch cube will bring back memories of playing the game and wasting tons of quarters.
Get the Pac-Man light box for just $50(USD) on Etsy.
As you can see, these SNES headphones go nice with your potted Piranha plant and they are the best way to listen to all of those old school video game soundtracks.
Man, I wish they still made video game consoles like this. Nintendo lost their design mojo with the N64. These old consoles had personality and class. Just put on these headphones, crank up the tunes and play some old school Mario. Everything will be right with the world… at least until you get back to the real world and look at how bland your Wii and Wii U look anyway.
Etsy seller Kutuleras is offering these headphones for about $43(USD).
I love it when old-fashioned board games are gussied up with some new features and aimed at fans of various TV shows. Take this Firefly Clue board game. But this time you’re not looking for who killed Colonel Mustard and what implement they used. Firefly Clue’s objective it to identify who helped the Alliance kidnap River Tam.
This is an officially licensed board game for three to six players. The game has nine collectable metal tokens that represent items used to betray River. The token include a six shooter, Vera, a teapot, wrench, dinosaur, torn book, med kit, leather necklace, and the Hands of Blue.
There are six suspect personality cards with Inara, Jayne, Mal, Wash, Zoe, and Kaylee. The board gets nine custom locations like the cargo bay and bridge. A scoring pad and instructions are included. You can pick up Firefly Clue for $39.99(USD) at ThinkGeek.
Back in July, I talked about an awesome film-scale Serenity model that was on display from QMx. A lot of people got all hot and bothered at the thought of owning that model. If you were one of those who got excited, you can own your own now.
QMx is taking pre-orders on the giant Serenity replica complete with cool paint, LED lights, and more. In all, there are over 250 parts to the replica. The model is built using a steel skeletal structure and internal brass for main engine rotation. There are over 100 LED lights controlled by a 12v system.
On the bridge, the tiny crew can be seen and manually operating cargo bay doors and a hinged reactor vent covers are included. A remote control is included for operating the lights on the bridge, galley, cargo bay, and docked shuttle lights. The company will make 500 of the models and as awesome as it is, you need some serious money to own one. A single replica will set you back $7495(USD).
Located within the 4-star Hotel Terme Millepini in Montegrotto Terme, Italy, is the world’s deepest pool. It’s called Y-40, The Deep Joy. The name refers to the Y-axis (the vertical one), and -40 meters of depth (that’s 131 feet). It’s about 5 meters deeper than the previous world’s deepest pool, the Nemo 33, in Belgium. Containing 4,300 cubic meters (151,853 cu. ft.) of spa water maintained at a constant temperature of 32-34c (around 90F), you don’t need a wet suit to dive down. And on your way to the bottom you’ll encounter four caves for technical underwater training, as well as a viewing tunnel for curious onlookers. We’re not sure about regular admission prices, but a poster on their website advertises 100 dives for 2,000€, which works out to about $25 a dive.
Looking back at early portable gaming, we have to admit that colour screens rivalling the Nintendo Game Boy all suffered from blurring and light-leakage. Similar to the Sega Game Gear, the Atari Lynx’s display left a lot to be desired. This, however, is all about to change thanks to an all new modification which allows you to output the Lynx’s video to a television.
The idea behind the TouchArcade Game of the Week is that every Friday afternoon we post the one game that came out this week that we think is worth giving a special nod to. Now, before anyone goes over-thinking this, it doesn't necessarily mean our Game of the Week pick is the highest scoring game in a review, the game with the best graphics, or really any other quantifiable "best" thing. Instead, it's more just us picking out the single game out of the week's releases that we think is the most noteworthy, surprising, interesting, or really any other hard to describe quality that makes it worth having if you were just going to pick up one.
These picks might be controversial, and that's OK. If you disagree with what we've chosen, let's try to use the comments of these articles to have conversations about what game is your game of the week and why.
Without further ado…
Banner Saga
Yes, that's Banner Saga [$9.99], not THE Banner Saga, but naming quirks aside, this is still Stoic Studio's tactical RPG masterpiece that released in January of this year on desktop and made its surprise debut on iOS just a wee bit later than the rest of this week's new releases. And as a Banner Saga newbie who hasn't played the game on other platforms prior to the iOS version, this game is just stupid good in every possible way.
To back things up a bit, Banner Saga is a Norse-themed tactical RPG created by Stoic Studios, which is a studio comprised of former BioWare developers. It features gorgeous visuals, a stunning soundtrack by Grammy-nominated composer Austin Wintory, a branching dialogue-driven storyline, and challenging tactical combat. Banner Saga received broad critical praise when it released on PC back in January, but interestingly enough it was originally conceived as a game for tablets.
This makes its arrival on iOS feel like a homecoming of sorts, as Banner Saga both looks and plays spectacularly well on a touchscreen device. There is a really cool parallax effect throughout the game that's controlled by the motion of your device, giving the game a sense of depth. Fighting battles and navigating menus also feels very at home on the touchscreen, and it's easy to zoom and pan around in pretty much all areas of the game if you ever feel like you need a better view of something. Banner Saga on the touchscreen just feels right.
Another nice thing about Banner Saga on iOS is that it's Universal. It was originally thought that the game would only be coming to iPad, as this sort of game makes more sense with a larger screen to play on. However, I'm quite surprised at how well it plays on my iPhone 6, and there's even some players in our forums reporting a good experience playing on older 4-inch and even 3.5-inch devices. Yes, it's small, but the ability to move your view around really helps and all the text that I've encountered has been perfectly readable.
If you like strategy games and/or epic Viking adventures, you owe it to yourself to check out Banner Saga now that it's on iOS. It's not for the faint of heart though, as I said I'm a newbie to the game and I'm still very early on and already getting my butt kicked. But I'm loving every minute of it so far. We'll have a full review soon, and you can check out our forums for some impressions or the Metacritic reviews for the desktop version if you need a little more insight. At any rate, this is the type of game we need much more of on the App Store, and even though ten bucks is the higher end of the pricing spectrum on mobile, it's worth every bloody penny for something like Banner Saga.
Video games are a bit like comic books in the sense that at some point most gamers have sat around talking about who would win if a fight broke out between characters from this game and that game. One video game beat down I have never thought about is Super Mario World vs. Mortal Kombat.
That is a mash-up that seems very biased towards the Mortal Kombat killers. After all, MK fighters get those awesome fatalities. There is nothing quite like seeing cute Mario characters dispatched violently by Scorpion and Shang Tsung.
Everything seems to be going along normally until morphing character Shang Tsung pops up and starts to dominate and decimate the Mushroom Kingdom. Check out the videos to see all the mashup action in full effect.
This is 'Where Are They Now?', an animation created by Steve Cutts and narrated by a now much more shapely Jessica Rabbit that explores the lives of cartoon characters after their fame is up. So, where are they now? Nowhere good, I can tell you that. Garfield and his litter-box, my God. The whole thing kind of made me for-real sad. What do you think -- is it better to be a has-been or a never-was? My guess is a never-was, but it still hurts to hear your mom say it.
Keep going for the video.
Wie auch immer: Es gibt jetzt einen Civ5-Mod, in dem man als Gabe Newell, „Lord of the PC Master Race, creator of Steam and herald of the coming doom of consoles“ spielen kann. ALS GABE NEWELL!
Unique Ability: Steam Sales. 75% less unhappiness from population.
Unique Unit: The Ascended. Replaces the XCOM Squad, and is 25% off!
Unique Building: Gaming Shrine. Adds +10 to Food and Production yields per tile, +20 to Gold, and +50 to Science, Faith, and Culture.
It's called the "new" 3DS and the "new" 3DS LL. It's faster with "new" 3DS viewing. It also has "Amiibo" function and a new analog pad call the "C-stick." Wow! This sounds great.
If you've tried playing a retro console on a modern HDTV, you may not have liked what you saw — smeary, stretched images that are a far cry from the sharp chunky blocks of yesteryear. Luckily, there's a better way for purists to get a crystal clear image that doesn't involve buying an old CRT TV.
Here's Pierce Brosnan, playing Goldeneye with Jimmy Fallon. Brosnan's not the best at the game, but hey, that's OK. He can say he used to be James Bond.
