New Motion Poster Reveals Daredevil's Red Suit

New Motion Poster Reveals Daredevil's Red Suit

Matt Murdock finally suits up

A day before the series drops in its entirety on Netflix, the platform has finally given us our first look at Daredevil's signature red costume. This nifty motion poster takes us through the three stages of Matt Murdock, from sober law-office appropriate threads, to interim place-holder crime-busting training gear, to the fully-fledged scarlet hornhead. You might consider it a spoiler, so don't press play if you don't want to see it quite yet...

The real journey to becoming a hero starts here. #Daredevil #Spoiler https://t.co/sjSEgpEn2Z

— Daredevil (@Daredevil) April 9, 2015

All publicity so far had shown the big DD in the black outfit familiar to readers of Frank Miller's graphic novel The Man Without Fear. The red, we were lead to believe, would constitute an end-of-season reveal, just as it only appears in the final pages of Miller's origin story. This surprise early unveiling is probably a sensible and understandable branding move on Netflix's part, but it does also feel slightly like a loss of nerve.

Whatever, what we seem to have - and we're still not being shown it from head to toe - is a harder and more moulded looking armoured affair than Ben Affleck's leather version from a decade ago. Does it look practical for Hell's Kitchen rooftop billy-club acrobatics? Give us your thoughts.

Daredevil, the first of an interconnected series of Netflix shows that will also include Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Luke Cage and team-up The Defenders, stars Charlie Cox, Vincent D'Onofrio, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Rosario Dawson, Ayelet Zurer, Bob Gunton and Scott Glenn. Steven S. DeKnight is the showrunner, and all ten episodes, as we said, debut on Netflix from tomorrow.

LG details the G4 camera's secret weapon: 80% more light

by Phil Nickinson

If you liked the camera on last year's LG G3, you're going to love what's in the G4, the company says.

Continuing its trend of showing off features before actually showing off the phone, LG has given us a little more detail into the camera system on its 2015 flagship smartphone, the LG G4.

The G4 will have a 16-megapixel rear camera with an f/1.8 aperture — just a smidge wider than that of the already impressive Samsung Galaxy S6 — meaning it'll help you take better pictures in darker environments. How much darker? LG says the camera on the G4, developed by the LG Innotek sister company, will let in nearly double the amount of light of the LG G3, which impressed us in its own right.

Make an Effective Shoe Deodorizer with Some Cat Litter and a Stocking

by Patrick Allan

If you’ve got a stinky pair of shoes, a custom made cat litter deodorizer will suck up all the moisture and help neutralize the odor.

Your shoes get smelly because the moisture in your shoes allows odor-causing bacteria to thrive. The HouseholdHacker YouTube channel demonstrates, among other methods, how you can combat the stench of your favorite sneakers with some products you might be able to find at home. Sometimes you need to go with tough stuff like rubbing alcohol, but if it’s not too intense you can create a simple deodorizer. Pour a little cat litter—silica-based if you have it—into an old stocking or sock and wrap it up. Stuff one into each shoe and it will dry them up while adding a nice little cover scent. Just make sure there aren’t any holes in the stockings or socks. Nobody wants a bunch of tiny rocks in their shoes.

If You Won't Use it Regularly, Don't Buy It

by Eric Ravenscraft

If You Won't Use it Regularly, Don't Buy It

We all have different criteria for what we think deserves our money. If your goal is to save any money at all, however, one rule can always help: if it’s going to end up in a junk drawer or closet, just don’t buy it.

This advice is on par with “Don’t go to bed angry” in terms of easy to say, hard to do. Most of us have a pile of junk that we’re hanging on to “just in case.” Or worse, we’ll buy something on the off chance we need it some day. The “nice to haves” don’t just cost money, though. They cost space. They cost time. The more crap you have, the more expensive your life as a whole is. As personal finance blog Life Optimization explains:

To me, minimalism is the philosophy of owning what you use on a regular basis and not much else. In a consumerist society where we’re constantly bombarded with advertisements to buy stuff we don’t need, we’ve become people who end up becoming overburdened by these very possessions. You may get a temporary moment of happiness every time you buy something, but the feeling soon goes away.

What counts as “using” an item can vary, of course. Buying things you like to help your home feel cozy, or luxury purchases that make you more satisfied with your life can be okay in moderation. But buying bread maker because some day you might want to make bread only wastes money, takes up closet space, and makes you annoyed with your past self when it comes time to move.

Apple Watch: the definitive review

by Nilay Patel

The Apple Watch is an extraordinarily small and personal device. It is designed to participate in nearly every moment of your day, but almost never directly interact with anyone else. It knows when you're wearing it. You can talk to it. You can poke it — and it can poke back.

Every so often, the Apple Watch thinks about your heartbeat.

But the Apple Watch is also an enormous device. It's the first entirely new Apple product in five years, and the first Apple product developed after the death of Steve Jobs. It's full of new hardware, new software, and entirely new ideas about how the worlds of fashion and technology should intersect.

It's also the first smartwatch that might legitimately become a mainstream product, even as competitors...
