‘Breaking Bad’ Creator: If You’re Throwing Pizza On Walter White’s Albuquerque House, You’re A “Jagoff”

by Mary Beth Quirk
You are not Walter White.

You are not Walter White.

So you think you’re a Breaking Bad fan, huh? Well if you’re one of the people tossing pizza on the roof of Walter White’s home in Albuquerque, show creator Vince Gilligan has got some pointed words for you.

Namely: Stop it, because seriously? Someone actually lives there, and she does not appreciate food being chucked at her house.

During a Better Call Saul podcast (starting around 3:05) that also features Jonathan Banks, otherwise known as enforcer Mike Ehrmantraut, Gilligan says that people who he won’t even call “fans” have started acting up at the site, which has turned into somewhat of a tourist attraction in light of the show’s popularity.

While that’s understandable, and the couple who live in that house have been just fine with courteous visitors who stay off the property and can act like decent, respectful human beings, Gilligan says they’ve reported an uptick in rude behavior, including food throwing, as an apparent homage to the scene in the show where White chucks an extra large pizza onto the garage roof.

“Lately we’ve been hearing from her that folks are wandering onto her property and they are being rude to her when she comes out, and basically says you’re on my property, and they’re throwing pizza on roofs and stuff like that,” Gilligan says.

He warns would-be tossers that “there is nothing original, or funny or cool about throwing a pizza on this lady’s roof.”

“And if I catch you doing it, i will hunt you down,” Banks chimes in with his scariest Mike voice.

Gilligan reiterates again that he doesn’t think the culprits are listening to the podcast, “but if we are, I don’t even know what to say to you. So uncool, please stop.”

If you don’t, Gilligan has no love for you.

“Again, we love our fans — we don’t love those fans,” he adds. “I don’t even consider them fans. I consider them jagoffs.”

Our previous exposure to the word “jagoff” has come mostly from grumpy Consumerist dads so we know it’s got to be pretty bad.

Pretty Bad: This Giant Video Game Controller Pillow

giant-game-controller-pillow.jpg Because what better way to show off your gamer cred than with a decorative pillow, this is the $26 Gamer Pillow. Everyone will know you're a serious gamer because it says GAMER really big right at the top. The pillow measures 18" wide by 14" tall, is filled with micro beads, and looks like a cross between an aftermarket XBox controller and a piece of shit. I like how they didn't even bother to spell ANALOG correct at the bottom, that was a nice touch. Or maybe it's a nod to 2006 when Sony displayed the new PS3 controller with SELECT spelled SERECT. Speaking of -- *licks lips, tweaks nips* Now who serect? Don't lie, you're into this. Thanks to dogs are people too, who agrees the best pillows are the ones that are freezing cold on the other side when you flip them over in the middle of the night.

Sony Playstation Vue Streaming TV Service Two Weeks From Trials -

Sony's launch of a streaming pay TV alternative may be just a few weeks away. As we've noted previously the service will be named "Playstation Vue," and while aimed at cord cutters will be notably more expensive than Dish's $20 a month Sling TV service. A report in the Wall Street Journal notes that Playstation Vue will launch by invitation only in New York, Chicago and Philadelphia on a trial basis sometime within the next two weeks.

According to the report, the full service should launch by the end of the year. There's no word on price, but previous leaks peg the monthly tag somewhere between $50 and $100. The service will be made available on iOS devices and Sony game consoles at launch.

While Sony's been able to secure broadcaster licensing for 75 different channels, the Journal notes that they've yet to secure a deal with ESPN:

quote:
Discussions with other content providers are ongoing and are moving forward positively, Mr. House said in an interview. He declined to discuss potential partners, but one big holdout is Walt Disney Co. , whose ESPN sports network is popular with a young, videogame-playing demographic..."We are in discussions but there is nothing to announce at this time," said an ESPN spokeswoman.
Vue is expected to not only have a broader selection of channels than Sling TV, but will also allow some storage of recorded content in the cloud, something we noted was a notable absence from Dish's service. Even Dish boss Charlie Ergen recently stated that if people wanted a real cord cutting option, they should probably wait for Sony's service -- since Sony's not afraid of cannibalizing traditional TV customers.

Like Netflix and Amazon Sony's already dipping their toe into original content as well. The company this week unveiled the first three episodes of an original TV series called "Powers," which Sony calls an "edgy dramatic series" focused on two detectives "assigned to investigate cases involving people with superhuman abilities."

One chart that shows why Apple is interested in the car market (AAPL)

by Jay Yarow

Apple is reportedly in the early stages of developing an electric car

Why is Apple developing an electric car? Probably because Apple thinks today's cars are ugly, and based on old, inefficient technology.

Apple typically finds old, bad products and improves them. The car is the perfect target.

But, there's plenty of products like cars that are due for a disruption that Apple isn't touching. So, why the car industry? Because the automobile industry is massive.

This chart, made for us by BI Intelligence based on data from Morgan Stanley, shows that the car market is roughly the size of the smartphone market in terms of sales.

Apple is expected to generate $236.54 billion in revenue for 2016. If Apple is going to continue growing, then it has to tackle big markets like the auto industry.

Game of the Day: Developer Creates Online Version of Cards Against Humanity

by TDW

031115CAH_fi

The “card game for horrible people” is now a card game for horrible people who are always on their phones.

Canada-based designer/developer Dawson Whitfield has created a free, online version of Cards Against Humanity called Cards Against Originality.

It’s a web app that works on your phone, tablet or computer, and it and includes all 5 expansion packs in addition to the original set.

To set up a game, you just click “New Game” on the site, and share the custom game link with your friends so they can join.

“This app is intended to fill in when you forget your physical cards,” Whitfield writes on the website. “You’ll still need to be with your friends (or strangers at the bar) to play.”

There’s no legal issue here since the original game’s Creative Commons license permits anyone to “use, remix, and share the game for free.” You just can’t sell it without their permission.

The original creators also provide a link so you can download and print the cards at home without paying the $25 for the physical deck.

While there is no official Cards Against Humanity iPhone app yet, a similar knockoff game called “Evil Apples” has been around for a few years.
