Beware the Backyard in Guilty Gear Xrd's arcade opening

by Steven Hansen

Some sort of Jumanji book about the secret Backyard gets hidden away, but an evil power erupts from the Backyard itself (kind of like The Gate) threatening the world and, uh, only the power of cheesy rock and roll and drop dead gorgeous faux 2D animation can stop it.

Whatever, I don't care, Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign- looks as pretty as it's name is stupid.

I still can't believe that's 3D. How am I going to complain about how 2D is the best D if 3D can look this good, this 2D?

Seeing a whole car get destroyed by a giant shredder is oddly enjoyable

yea bitch u take it

Seeing a whole car get destroyed by a giant shredder is oddly enjoyable

I'm not sure what it is about seeing a giant piece of metal being swallowed by another giant piece of metal but it's almost therapeutic. It's like seeing insect fights on YouTube but on a more gargantuan, real life Transformers level. Whatever it is, I can't get enough. Here's the Hammel Red Giant Car Shredder having its way with a little car. I keep hoping that the little green car can get away but it never does. Sad. But so much weird fun to see.

Nissan's new 400 bhp engine fits in carry-on luggage

by David Szondy

The DIG-T-R weighs 40 kg (88 lb), yet puts out 400 bhp

It’s a common problem: You’re off to Le Mans with your new 400 bhp engine and you discover that it won’t fit in the airplane's overhead compartment. This week, Nissan showed off the answer to this traveler’s nightmare with its ultralight DIG-T R 1.5 liter, three-cylinder petrol engine that is small enough to fit in carry-on luggage and boasts a power-to-weight ratio better than the engine of a Formula 1 racer. .. Doctor Walks 6 Miles through the Snow to Perform Emergency Brain Surgery

by John Farrier

The winter storm that hit the American South has been particularly bad in Birmingham, Alabama. The city simply doesn't maintain the infrustructure necessary to deal with this kind of weather, which has placed a strain on the medical facilities there.

Dr. Zenko Hrynkiw is a brain surgeon. He was at one hospital when he was summoned to a traumatic brain injury at another. No other neurosurgeons were available.

Dr. Hrynkiw started driving there, but the traffic was terrible. Eventually, he ditched his car six miles away from his destination and started walking.

Cell phone service was spotty, so the two hospitals lost contact with Dr. Hrynkiw for hours. Eventually, he arrived and performed the surgery. Steve Davis, a nurse at that hospital, told the Birmingham News that Dr. Hrynkiw saved the man's life:

"Without the surgery, the patient would have most likely died," Davis said. "But he is doing well." […]

"This just speaks volumes to the dedication of the man," Davis said. "When I saw him, all I could say is 'you are a good man.' "

Davis said Hrynkiw takes good care of himself and frequently walks for exercise.
