The Green Cat of Bulgaria
A stray cat roaming the streets of Varna, Bulgaria, stands out against the crowd of feral felines. We’ve featured a green cat before (and puppies, too), but this one looks like something out of a science fiction movie. At first, people thought the cat was painted by vandals. But it came to light that this cat regularly sleeps on a pile of discarded green paint in a garage. By licking his fur, he has spread the green all over his body. That didn’t sound quite right to me, because cats cannot lick or reach their spines well. But if you look closely, especially in the second video, you’ll see that the cat’s spine is only lightly tinted green. It still looks like a special effect
A Bulgarian commenter says the cat, although unfriendly, is a celebrity in Varna and gets plenty of food, and has also been checked out by a veterinarian. No doubt his cat buddies also benefit from the attention. -via Buzzfeed
A man and his dog walk into a bar. The man proclaims, "I'll bet you a round of ...
Bartender: "Yeah! Sure ... go ahead."
Man: "What covers a house?"
Dog: "Roof!"
Man: "How does sandpaper feel?"
Dog: "Rough!"
Man: "Who was the greatest baseball player of all time?"
Dog: "Ruth!"
Man: "Pay up. I told you he could talk."
The bartender, annoyed at this point, throws both of them out the door. Sitting on the sidewalk, the dog looks at the guy and says, "or is the greatest player Mantle?"

Tommy Hilfiger’s Solar Charging Jackets Are Hideous Yet Practical
I’m sure there is an elegant way to turn a jacket into a garment that collects energy from some source, be it solar, kinetic, auditory or what have you, and dispenses it to your devices. This is not that jacket. This is Tommy Hilfiger’s new plaid and solar panel creation, and it looks like one of Think Geek’s more unfortunate wearables.
The jackets are available on Tommy Hilfiger’s website for $599 (Men’s, Women’s), and while you’ll be out a lot of money and look like a tool if you cop one, you can at least sleep well by knowing that half of the profits ate being donated to the Fresh Air Fund. The Fresh Air Fund is a not-for-profit that helps low-income urban children experience the outdoors by taking them on trips to the countryside.
Regardless, which jacket do you think is less offensive? My vote is for the men’s version.

Lenexa KS Police Cattle Roundup
Five cows strayed out of their pasture Thursday morning on Interstate 435 near 87th Street. A Lenexa KS police officer responded to help get the cattle back into the field. The animals darted into traffic and crossed the median. But drivers stopped so the officer and the owner could herd the cattle safely off the highway.

How do you set four world records in Track & Field? Use a vibrator.
When I was a kid, our big hack for winning at Konami's Track & Field was to lay a butter knife across the two buttons and slap the middle of the knife. If only I'd thought to bring Mom's, uh, personal massager to the arcade.
This video is by RocketNews24 of Japan and it is outstanding. Someone on their team got the bright idea to take a "neck massager," — commonly called a Hitachi Wand — and use it on its highest settings to tap the buttons on the Famicom controller. The result is four world records shattered by something that sounds like a chainsaw.
And I'm not making that up, either. The wand shows how Track & Field — called Hyper Olympic in Japan — seems almost unlimited in its ability to recognize button tapping input (this video...
LionsGate Targets Reddit Over Christmas Movie Piracy
Some jobs are never done. Whether it’s cleaning up after kids or shifting leaves in the fall, as soon as one mess is dealt with along comes another. And another. And another.
Copyright holders know the feeling only too well. While it may traditionally come around on February 2, for them every day is Groundhog Day. Check torrent and other file-sharing sites for infringing content, send takedown notices. Hope content disappears. Rinse and repeat.
No one knows how many DMCA notices are sent in total each week, but during the past seven days Google alone received 8.68 million. It’s believed that the majority of these notices are accurate, but the truth is no one really knows. Google rejects thousands every day, often due to notices targeting the same URLs time and again.
Other errors are more easily spotted, such as when copyright holders target content they don’t own the rights to. Another ‘trick’ is not targeting infringing content precisely – why send a DMCA notice for a single URL when one can move up a level and take out a whole bunch of content in a single swoop?
This week that’s exactly what LionsGate tried to do. In a single DMCA notice to Google the movie studio targeted 9,000 URLs spread over 379 domains. As usual dozens of URLs were duplicates and as such were rejected by Google, but a trio of links targeting Reddit were dismissed for different reasons.
Each targeted a Reddit sub called BestOfStreamingVideo after someone posted a link to the LionsGate movie ‘Tyler Perry’s A Madea Christmas‘.
However, instead of targeting the precise link as required under the DMCA, LionsGate tried to have the whole sub-reddit delisted from Google. It didn’t pay off.
Faced with wiping the very existence of /r/BestOfStreamingVideo from its search results, Google refused to go full nuclear and rejected all three attempts by LionsGate.
It’s not clear why the search engine refused to comply but it’s possible that by being over-broad the studio shot itself in the foot. That being said, one of the URLs does link to the content in question so other factors could be at play.
The “over-broad” strategy has certainly paid off in the past, though. The MPAA previously managed to have the homepages of several popular sites removed from Google’s search results, including that of KickassTorrents.
On the other hand, more recent efforts have produced less impressive results, with Google rejecting an MPAA attempt at removing dozens of ‘pirate’ site homepages just last month.
So at least for now /r/BestOfStreamingVideo remains findable using Google, but it’s quite possible that it will be targeted again before the Christmas period is over……
