Wishful Thinking
Photograph by Sherry Zhao, National Geographic Your Shot
The sky transformed itself into a splendid and surreal sea of lanterns carrying all kinds of wishes, writes Your Shot member Sherry Zhao of the scene at the Yi Peng Lantern Festival in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Here, a couple makes a wish before releasing a lantern into the night sky. This enchanted moment is truly embedded in my memory, Zhao writes. Im glad I was fast enough to lie down on the ground and capture the serene moment between this young couple, who drew my attention with their sincere expressions before sending out the lantern, sending up hope.

Victoria’s Secret Angels Pose Nude in Photo Book Releasing Next Month
None!im just going to leave this here for you to star

Russell James has shot for publications like W, GQ, Vogue and Sports Illustrated. But he’s most importantly known for being the main photographer for Victoria’s Secret, where he’s produced their infamous catalogs and directed their television commercials for the last 15 years. This year, he will release a hardcover photo book entitled “Angels,” of — yes — the iconic and unendingly beautiful VS supermodels. Karlie Kloss, Adriana Lima, Doutzen Kroes, Gisele Bundchen, and Alessandra Ambrosio (to name a few) grace the pages in stunning black-and-white nude photography. We can’t wait to get our hands on a copy, releasing this October 15 for $139.

Dortmund preview
None!"and apparently you can get a chateaubriand with a glass of verve clicquot at half time for 3 euros"
70' in and we are down 2 -0
Good morning all. So tonight we face a real test away in Dortmund. Pedro will be there the lucky git, it looks like such an exciting ground to watch football in. Amazing atmosphere, amazing fans and apparently you can get a chateaubriand with a glass of verve clicquot at half time for 3 euros. Yet another damning indictment of the disgraceful way in which us hard working fans are proper mugged off #FAout
In many ways Dortmund and Arsenal are kindred spirits. The Germans have lost two of their best players, Gotze and Lewandoski, to their bitterest rivals and their other best player, Reus, is injured. They also look to play attractive, exciting football, except at the moment they are slightly better at it than us.
We got one of our best results (though not performances) when we beat them in Dortmund last year. Despite this, and the absence of the three aforementioned names, this will be a very stern test. However there was an indication against City that we are starting to find our form. We had the champions pinned back for long periods on Saturday. If we can come out of the blocks like that tonight and get an early goal, it might make the bitter pill of conceding from an own goal in the last minute a little easier to swallow.
The only concern is that our back line are dropping like flies and so blooding ballerina (ipad speak for Bellerin), if it comes to that, is going to be a huge risk but we covered that yesterday.
Lots of interesting comments about the change in formation, my understanding is that 4-1-4-1 gives us two box-to-box midfielders at the expense of a traditional number 10. Maybe why Ozil is struggling but also why Arsene is more confident of not getting spanked in big away games.
The other interesting tactical discussion from Saturday is zonal marking. I have to admit I always balk when an absolute clown like Andy Townsend berates the system but I am starting to wonder if it is right for us. We don’t have the height or the discipline to make it work effectively, so you wonder if it is time we went back to man marking. That being said I seem to recall a stat floating round that we concede very goals from set pieces.
A bigger bug bear for me and everyone I sit near in the stadium is our own set pieces, particularly our amazing awfulness to clear the first man on a corner. I wonder if arsenal do any set piece practice in training because it seems like such a wasted opportunity.
Anyway that’s all I’ve got for you today. Fingers crossed for a good performance and result tonight and keep an eye out for Pedro, he’ll be the one with the shit Marco Reus haircut.

Spirits of Westminster
Photograph by Valerios Theofanidis, National Geographic Your Shot
I remember that cold, foggy February morningit was 7 a.m. when I arrived at Westminster Bridge, writes Valerios Theofanidis, a member of our Your Shot community. In modern times, the thick fog in Britain is less frequent, so when it comes many photographers try to catch the moment. Theofanidis did a series of shots and walked along the north and south embankments before returning to the bridge when the sun had risen higher. Its ambient light created fantastic, surreal views of the bridge and the Houses of Parliament. Walking people looked like spirits.
Theofanidis's picture recently appeared in Your Shots Daily Dozen.

AARON IS FIT and he passed his medical
None!came here to say that i will likely be going to the Man U game on November 22!
Mad LOLz with that headline. Aaron has passed his medical according to Wayne Veysey, which is banging news.
Danny Welbeck has been in all the company shots looking athletic and fancy.
It’s feeling good. Real good.
I’ve no idea what to expect from today. I think post international break games are a little like derbies… there’s no real way of telling what could happen. Players go to all sorts of weird places and play on all sorts of terrible surfaces, so you really don’t know what you’re going to get. I think it was Spain who always used to play some dodgy game in Ecuador and Cesc would always come back broken. So who knows what state players will be in…
City have a good squad to pick from. I mean, as Geoff alluded to yesterday as we shot the breeze in Cov G, even when half their squad it missing they still have 40% more depth than we do. They have Jovetic missing and the impressive Fernando. That doesn’t really feel like a City suffering for me. Aguerro and Dzeko as a duo is always going to be a nightmare to deal with.
We have a full squad to pick from pretty much. Even Abou Diaby is walking at the moment which is so unexciting I don’t even understand the point in Arsenal.com reporting on it.
The big question is this… will Wenger start WELBZ centrally. He said he makes sense through the middle in his pregame presser and he made the point that lots of 23 years olds come to us and make great careers. His goal record needs to improve, but let’s be fair, Thierry had a pretty average record before he landed. And WELBZ has a similar frame to Thierry, which is 60% of the job done.
Surely, just surely, there’s no way he’d roll with Yaya Sanogo?
There’s no chance of that, right? Come… be honest with me… it couldn’t happen, right? I mean, that’d be mental.
I can’t think about it. Let’s just go with this side and be done with it.
Sanchez WELBZ Chambo
Ozil
Ramsey Wilshere
Gibbs Mert Kos Debuchy
Chezzer
I reckon, the chances are, this might be the side.
Ozil WELBZ Chambo
Cazorla
Ramsey Arteta
Gibbs Mert Kos Debuchy
Chezzer
One side is about pace and energy, the other is about playing it safe and using experience. I personally think an Ozil start on the left is going to play right into the hands of Manchester City. Ozil won’t chase back, he’s not capable, he won’t be interested in doing that. I also think Arteta through the middle is another problem because against midfields packed with explosive power, he struggles. He has the will the chase back, just not the pace to keep up.
‘DOESN’T MATTER GET OUT AND SUPPORT THE LADS’
Indeed I will. Today is massive for us. 1245 kicks offs are usually a touch flat and we made a habbit of getting spanked at the time last year. A combination of nerves and not enough opening hours to get suitably ‘dutch couraged’ enough to make a noise is also a problem.
Pretty sure I head Pelligrini say that Sanchez had played in France.
Back on the game. It’d be great if we scored a nice early goal, it’d be great if we played with a style and purpose, it’d be great if there were some sort of recognition tactics to counter the mess that occurred last time. It’d be great to land a hard fought win against top opposition early on in the season.
Feel like Jack has missed a big chunk of Arsenal’s history with this comment…
‘In today’s market £16m is nothing really. With the quality Danny’s got, we have a bargain.’
‘There are not many players that leave one top club for another in England, especially English players. It’s unheard of really.’
Errrr, Jack, Cashley Cole…
But the sentiment is there. Quite amazing we landed WELBZ for the same fee we landed Chambers, Chamberlain and Theo Walcott all that time ago (with inflation). Think they might live to regret that… my City supporting fans are pretty certain he’ll score today. I have the same vibe.
ALL ABOUT THE WELBZ.
P.S. Not sure how I feel about all the ex-Ennnnngggggguuuuurrrrllllaaaannnddddd players coming out to talk about Arsenal players. Feels very unArsenal. Not sure how much I like being media darlings? It’s a bit weird… are we going to start getting more decisions?
Johnny Cash’s Custom 1970 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow to go on Auction

Lets roll back into the ’70s and take a look at Johnny Cash’s Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, originally given to him by ABC Television Network as a gift after the success of the Johnny Cash show. The late musician’s importance in 20th-century music influenced Rolls-Royce to custom design a beautifully sleek black Silver Shadow which even has his initials on the rear doors. The Rolls-Royce will go on auction at Barrett-Jackson Auction Company’s event in Las Vegas, happening from September 23 to 25. Find more information here.

Cold Encounter
Photograph by Nicolas Le Boulanger, National Geographic Your Shot
Hoarfrost settles on a moor along the border of Espace Rambouillet, a wildlife reserve near Paris, France, thats home to deer like this stag and other wildlife. Having heard noises on the moor one day, Your Shot member Nicolas Le Boulanger returned early the following morning to see the author of these sounds. He had just arrived at the path when the deer appeared. It literally jumped up in front of me as if to block access to its secret garden, Le Boulanger writes. We watched each other for five minutes, and I took hundreds of photos, but many of the others were missed due to the hoarfrost on the subject, my own shivers, and the rising morning mist that blurred the perspective.
Le Boulanger's picture recently appeared in Your Shot's Daily Dozen.

The successors of Roman Emperor Nero largely buried his legacy from view. Beneath the Oppian Hill (at left) the remains of the palacethe Domus Aurea, or Golden Housebuilt by and for Nero are closed to the public. By contrast, the Colosseum receives more than 10,000 visitors a day.

Hoboken Offers Free Rides on Hop Shuttle System Through End of October
None!im not a fan.

New Buses Provide GPS Tracking, Wheelchair Access & AC
The City of Hoboken invites the community to rediscover the revamped Hop shuttle bus system with free rides through the end of October. Beginning Monday, September 15th through Friday, October 31st, riders may use any of the three Hop shuttle bus routes at no charge as often as they wish.
The City recently purchased new shuttle buses to replace the old Hop bus fleet that regularly broke down and needed to be taken out of service for maintenance. All buses now have electronic message boards to indicate the route, wheelchair lifts, and air conditioning. The buses are equipped with GPS and can be tracked in real-time on smartphones through the SmartTraxx application for iOS and Android.
“Whether it’s for taking children to school, commuting, shopping, or just getting around town, we want to provide more convenient transportation options for our community,” said Mayor Dawn Zimmer. “We invite everyone to take advantage of the free service through the end of October and rediscover the Hop.”
“Depending on ridership and community support, the City is considering expanding Hop service hours on evenings and weekends as part of the parking and mobility master plan,” added Councilman Peter Cunningham, Chair of the City Council Parking & Transportation Committee.
The service is named the “Hop” to reflect that riders can hop on or off at any far-side corner along the route by simply notifying the driver. The Hop system has three overlapping routes – the Blue Hop (downtown), Green Hop (uptown west side), and Red Hop (uptown east side) – which are within a 5 minute walk of 99 percent of residents. All routes stop at the PATH station. The route map and additional information can be found at www.hobokennj.org/thehop.
Real-time GPS Tracking
The Hop shuttles can be tracked in real-time by downloading the “SmartTraxx” application for iOS and Android and selecting “City of Hoboken” from the list of options.
Hop Schedule
Red Hop (uptown west): 7am to 9am & 4pm to 7pm
Green Hop (uptown east): 7am to 7pm
Blue Hop (downtown): 7am to 8pm.
Senior Shuttle: 9am to 4pm
(all routes are temporarily out of service daily from 3pm to 4pm)
Where the Bus Stops
Buses will stop at any intersection along the route when flagged. Please note that buses will cross the intersection before stopping, so riders should wait on the far side of the intersection.
Boarding the Bus
As the bus pulls up to the stop, be sure to read the sign on the front and side (“Red Hop”, “Blue Hop”, or “Green Hop”) to check that the bus will take you where you want to go. Stay on the curb until your bus stops and the doors open. All buses are accessible to customers who use wheelchairs.
The farebox is directly in front of you as you board. When you board, place your exact cash fare (dollar bills or coins) in the farebox. The regular fare is $1, student fare is $0.50, and seniors and the disabled ride free. Children under 12 ride free with an adult. Exact change is required for all fares. No change is provided.
Getting Off the Bus
The bus will stop at any intersection along its route, if requested. To notify the bus driver when you wish to exit the bus, simply pull the stop request cord that runs along the upper part of the windows.
