I hugely admire Markus Raetz‘s artwork. This YES/NO sculpture is one of my favorites. Just like in real life, depending on your perspective, the answer can be YES or NO.
The Beautiful Maps Tumblr by Dennys Hess is definitely an instant new favorite.

Earlier this week, Russian Railways president Vladimir Yakunin proposed an ambitious plan for a massive trans-global highway that would link Russia’s eastern border with Alaska, crossing that narrow stretch of the Bering Sea that separates Asia from North America. It’s the long way around, but still. Imagine circling the earth by car.
If Yakunin gets his way, you won’t have to imagine.
“This is an inter-state, inter-civilization, project,” Yakunin tells the Siberian Times. “The project should be turned into a world ‘future zone,’ and it must be based on leading, not catching, technologies.”
He unveiled his proposition at the Russian Academy of Science’s meeting in Moscow. The project begins with a road constructed right beside the existing Trans-Siberian Railway, and then extending through Russia’s far eastern Chukotka region, across the Bering Strait and into Alaska’s Seward Peninsula. It has been officially christened the Trans-Eurasian Belt Development and would reportedly cost “trillions of dollars.”

But according to Yakunin’s math, the huge economic returns would more than make up for the initial investment.
He hasn’t exactly posed a plan for crossing the sea quite yet, let alone a plan for paying for it all. But there are possibilities. The shortest distance between mainland Russia and mainland Alaska is only 55 miles, and rumor has it that Yakunin is pretty tight with Putin, who’s got some money.
A supposed drive from London to Alaska through Moscow might cover about 8,064 miles, spanning vast sections of barren tundra. Exhausting, but beautiful. Will this plan fall through? Or become a reality? Would you take a road trip around the world?

The fact that this is a gun is kinda stupid but I do think an 8-bit instant camera that prints out images like receipts is cool! Moscow-based media artist Dmitry Morozov built this gadget using an old game boy, arduino, a camera, and a thermal printer. Watch the video below.
