Can You Read People’s Emotions?

How well can you read someone's thoughts by their facial expressions? The New York Times has a quiz in which you are asked to judge emotions on faces by seeing only the eyes. Try to guess how well you’ll do before your start.
If you are among those people who are mystified by moods, new research offers hope. A new study shows that certain types of reading can actually help us improve our sensitivity IQ. To find out how well you read the emotions of others, take the Well quiz, which is based on an assessment tool developed by University of Cambridge professor Simon Baron-Cohen.
I scored 28 out of 36, which is on the high end of average, no surprise. Try it yourself. -via Nag on the Lake
Dolly Parton - Home
Shainaf87love her
Dolly Parton has just released a new video, "Home," from her hit "Blue Smoke" album. The playful video follows Parton as she prepares for a photo shoot. True to form, her wardrobe is colorful throughout, and she even breaks out the banjo for part of the clip. The decidedly poppy song is a heartwarmer about, well, home. "I'll never be lost as long as I know, there's a place like that where I an go / Where I can restore my weary soul," she sings. The country music icon is currently on a hot streak, as the album entered the Billboard 200 chart in the No. 6 position -- marking her highest charting solo set ever. What lies ahead for the iconic figure? She admits she never stops dreaming.

Tiny Baby Goat Takes Its First Steps with a Wheelchair
Shainaf87i want one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Several years ago, Pam Ehern rescued her first animal: a pig named Edgar Alan Pig. She saw a need for an animal rescue organization in Australia devoted to farm animals, so she founded Edgar’s Mission. From the organization’s 60-acre spread in Kilmore, Victoria, Ehern and her colleagues take care of abandoned or abused farm animals.
The newest member of their family is a baby goat that they’ve named Frostie the Snow Goat. His back legs are crippled, but with the aid of a custom wheeled rig, he can move around. You can watch him take his first steps in this video:
You can see photos of other animals currently at the mission here.

25 Things You Might Not Know About The Sopranos

The critically-acclaimed and very popular series The Sopranos ran on HBO from 1999 to 2007. It seems so recent that it’s hard to comprehend that show said its goodbye a whole seven years ago! The show set a new standard for original cable TV dramas that are reflected in newer shows such as Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Mad Men, and others that might never have been greenlit if it weren’t for The Sopranos. But even if you watched the show diligently, there’s always more to learn about it. For example:
6. THE SOPRANOS SHARES 28 CAST MEMBERS WITH THE 1990 MOBSTER FLICK GOODFELLAS.
According to IMDb, six regular cast members appeared in Goodfellas (Lorraine Bracco, Michael Imperioli, Tony Sirico, Vincent Pastore, Frank Vincent, and Joseph R. Gannascoli). Ten recurring Sopranos characters and 11 one-time guest stars also appeared in the 1990 film.
8. STEVEN VAN ZANDT WAS DAVID CHASE'S FIRST PICK FOR TONY.
Before he auditioned James Gandolfini, Chase wanted Steven Van Zandt, guitar player of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, to play Tony. He told Vanity Fair in 2012, "I used to listen to music a lot on headphones and look at [Springsteen's] LP, and Steven Van Zandt's face always grabbed me. He had this similarity to Al Pacino in The Godfather. Then we were casting the pilot, and my wife, Denise, and I were watching TV. Steven came on VH1, when they were inducting the Rascals into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and Steven gave the speech. He was very, very funny and magnetic. I said to my wife, 'That guy has got to be in the show!'"
The producers didn't want to gamble on a first-time actor for the show's lead, so Chase offered to write a part for Van Zandt. The character Silvio Dante, who Van Zandt came to play, was in fact inspired by a short story about a retired hitman written by Van Zandt himself.

Remember When The Ninja Turtles Were On Oprah?

The Ninja Turtles may have become pop culture icons, and remain instantly recognizable to most people, but back in the early 90s they were seen as a passing fad in children’s entertainment, one that parents just didn’t understand.
Nevertheless, the rubber suit variety of TMNT made all kinds of appearances, both televised and in person, in an effort to convince the general public that they aren't dangerous space aliens, or a bad influence on kids.
In this particularly colorful 1990 appearance on the Oprah Winfrey show they sing their teenage mutant hearts out, chow down on some Chicago style pizza, and generally drive the kids in the audience wild while their parents are left with that WTF look on their faces...

What happens when 8 million people sign up for Obamacare, pt. 2
Earlier this week, we took a look at what happens on Fox News when eight million people sign up for Obamacare. The answer came down to one word—#Benghazi:

From January through April, GOP politicians on Capitol Hill used the word "Obamacare" 1,459 times in floor speeches compared with 114 times for Benghazi.
This month, they've used Benghazi 180 times—and Obamacare 23.
All of which raises a new question for Trey Gowdy and the GOP's Benghazi committee to answer: Did Barack Obama trick Republicans into thinking Obamacare would fail just so they would ignore the conspiracy that is Benghazi?
