Thunderbolt Fantasy Dusts Off Its Puppets for Season 2 Opening

Deculture! Macross Delta Announces All-New Movie

If you found yourself wishing for new content when a Macross Delta movie was first announced, we have good news: it's on its way!

 

This weekend, a new Macross Delta film was announced, with confirmation that it will be completely new content. While no information on the plot or release date was revealed, a new key visual was shown:

 

 

It looks like 2019 is going to be a big years for fans, with multiple Macross events in the works. Kicking things off is a crossover concert June 1-2, featuring singers from across the franchise. Confirmed to be in attendance so far are Mari Ijima (Lynn Minmay), Yoshiki Fukuyama (Nekki Basara), Chie Kajiura (Mylene F. Jenius), May'n (Sheryl Nome), Megumi Nakajima (Ranka Lee) and the entirety of Walküre.

 

 

Additionally, there will be a collab café coming this fall, November 3-25 at Harajuku's AREA-Q. Admission is 2,100 yen, and will include a special drink and a laminated art card.

 

On November, a special event will be held in honor of the birthday of character Freyja Wion. Voice actress Minor Suzuki will be in attendance, and diners will get a special dessert place and laminated art card.

Cardcaptor Sakura Smartphone Game PV Introduces Theme Song by Maaya Sakamoto

Bushiroad and Monster Lab held a presentation for their co-produced new smartphone game inspired by CLAMP's ongoing manga series Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card, titled Cardcaptor Sakura: Happiness Memories at Tokyo Game Show 2018 today on September 21.

 

At the same time. Bushiroad's official YouTube channel has started streaming a 110-second PV for the game introducing its system and theme song "Flash" by Maaya Sakamoto, who has performed the theme songs for the Cardcator Sakura anime series, including "Platinum" (Cardcaptor Sakura OP) and "CLEAR" (Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card OP). The lyrics of the song is written by herself.

The themes of the Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card arc's first official smartphone game are "changing

clothes" and "miniature garden." A player has to clear various missions in a miniature garden that

imitates Tomoeda-cho, creates/changes Sakura's clothes with collected materials, and can also enjoy

decorations freely in an independent space in the garden. 

 

 

 

In addition to those from the Clear Card arc, the episodes from the Clow Cards and Sakura Cards arcs,

and original episodes that connected with newly-drawn illustration cards are also featured in the game

story.

MY love STORY!! Returns for One-Off Manga Installment

If you've been missing Takeo and friends, don't worry — they're back.

 

Shojo series MY love STORY!! will be re-emerging temporarily in manga form, thanks to a 60-page stand-alone special. Written and illustrated by series creators Aruko and Kazune Kawahara, the new issue will follow our protagonists into college.

 

 

This new issue will mark the first time in two years the manga has been in print. The series originally ended in July of 2016, but not before being made into both a 24-episode anime series and a live-action film.

 

The stand-alone story is being released by shojo manga magazine Margaret, and will also include a bookmark. Readers can also look forward to a special issue of Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You in the coming months.

Magic and Monsters Clash in Usuzumizakura -GARO- Trailer

A new key visual illustrated by manga author / character designer Masakazu Katsura (Video Girl AiDNA²), a new trailer, additional cast members, and the official theme song performers have all been revealed for Usuzumizakura -GARO- ("Ink-gray Cherry Blossoms -GARO-"), an upcoming theatrical anime film that tells a story of the popular GARO tokusatsu / anime franchise that is set during the Heian Period.

 

 

The new cast members for Usuzumizakura -GARO- include:

 

 

Atsuko Tanaka as Akira.

 

 

And Keisuke Higashi as Tokimaru.

 

Additionally, the official theme song for the film, entitled "Hitohira", is performed by JAM Project.

 

 

Set in the imperial capital of Kyō during the height of the Heian period, Usuzumizakura -GARO- tells the story of a fateful meeting between two onmyōji sorcerers, and how their tragic and transient encounter coincides with the most profuse blooming of cherry blossoms in 1000 years.

 

Usuzumizakura -GARO- is directed by Satoshi Nishimura and features animation production by Studio M2 and Studio VOLN. The film hits theaters in Japan on October 06, 2018.

Haruka Takachiho's New Dirty Pair Novel Coming This Year

66-year-old Japanese novel author Haruka Takachiho has announced on his official Twitter account that Dirty Pair no Daichouyaku (Dirty Pair's Big Jump), the long-awaited eighth volume of his long-running Dirty Pair sci-fi action novel series, is scheduled to be released from Hayakawa Publishing before the end of this year. It has been 11 years since the last seventh volume Dirty Pair no Daiteikoku (Dirty Pair's Great Empire) was published in Japan in October 2007.

 

Takachiho also confirmed that illustrations for the new volume are drawn by the original illustrator Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, who has been attached to the series for almost 40 years since its first volume Dirty Pair no Daibouken (Dirty Pair's Great Adventures) in May 1980. Takachiho said Yasuhiko had already started working on it (probably), and added one day later, "I decided to write a new story because of Yasuhiko-san's strong request, 'We have had enough Joe (Crusher Joe), so would you write a new Dirty Pair story now?'"

Start Your New Year Right with One Piece Osechi

Want to ring in the new year Straw Hat Pirate style? There's an osechi for that.

 

The new One Piece-themed osechi, created for 2019, features 31 different traditional Japanese New Year's food from bitter oranges to steamed shrimp. The jubako features one layer of primarily meat dishes (just as Luffy likes it) and one of seafood (befitting a band of pirates). It also comes with a pottery dish, chopsticks, and an etched masu.

 

 

 

Osechi are traditional Japanese meals made up of multiple small servings of different foods. Each is symbolic a certain type of health, happiness, or prosperity desired in the coming year.

 

Ichifuji Catering has been making osechi for the last 115 years, and One Piece versions in particular for a few years now. The 2019 set costs 15,120 yen and will be delivered to families in Japan on New Year's Eve.

Slayers Novel Original Series' Long-Awaited 16th Volume Set for Release on October 20

The official website for Fujimi Shobo's Fantasia Buko has confirmed that the long-awaited 16th volume of the original long novel series of Hajime Kanzaka's long-running fantasy light novel series Slayers, titled "Atessa no Kaikou" (The Encounter at Atessa), is set for a release on October 20, 2018.

 

The series was launched in January 1990 and it has been 18 years since the long novel series' last 15th volume was published in Japan. So far the whole series has 50 volumes in total (long novel series: 15 volumes, Special series: 30 volumes, Smash. series: five volumes), and its total print has reached 20 million copies.

 

The long novel series was considered to have concluded with its 15th volume released in May 2000.

A new story arc has been serialized in the publisher's Dragon Magazine since its May 2018 issue

published in March 2018 to celebrate the magazine and the light novel imprint's 30th anniversary. 

 

In addition, the novel author Hajime Kanzaka and illustrator Rui Araizumi will join an autograph

session at the upcoming Fantasia Bunko Big Thanks Festival 2018 on October 21, 2018, one day

after the release of the 16th volume.

Invincible Super Man Zanbot 3 Gets Japanese Bluray Release

Muteki Chōjin Zanbot 3 ("Invincible Superman Zanbot 3") - a 23 episode mecha TV anime that ran from 1977 - 1978 and that features direction by Yoshiyuki Tomino, character designs by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, and animation production by Sunrise - is getting an HD remastered home video release on Bluray in Japan.

 

 

The Japanese Bluray features a new 2K HD scan taken from the master positive film print as well as new box artwork by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko and a 200 page booklet filled with interviews and setting materials. The Muteki Chōjin Zanbot 3 Bluray box hits Japanese stores on December 04, 2018, and it retails for 30,000 yen ($269.57 US) plus tax.

 

A precursor to Yoshiyuki Tomino's work in later shows like Space Runaway IdeonZanbot 3 is infamous for its depressing ending and its "Human Bomb" episodes. It's one of the reasons that the director is nicknamed "Kill `Em All Tomino".

"Cruel Angel's Thesis" Writers Reunite for New JoJo Theme

Regardless of whether you're a fan of Evangelion, its opening theme is one of the most recognizable in anime history. And the people who created it are reuniting for the new opening theme to JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.


Lyricist Neko Oikawa and composer Toshiyuki Oomori both have impressive resumes in the anime world, but never worked together before or since their collaboration on Evangelion. The new theme, "Fighting Gold," will be their second ever collaboration.

 

The theme will be performed by Coda, who made his solo debut performing "BLOODY STREAM" from the first season of JoJo. Since then, he's gone on to perform several tracks, both solo and as collaborations.

JAM Project Member Yoshiki Fukuyama Performs Agni Flare's Company Song in Full CG Music Video

Japanese CG design company Agni Flare's official YouTube channel has started streaming a two-minute music video for its official company song "Honoo to Tomo ni" (Along With Fire) performed by Yoshiki Fukuyama, a 54-year-old member of anison singer group JAM Project. The video's concept, camera, modelings, motions, and effects are all produced by the company itself and the movement of Fukuyama was captured with the company's own motion capture system. 

 

Agni Flare was established in December 2010 and has worked for various game titles by Sega, Capcom, Bandai Namco, Square Enix, and many others. The full version of "Honoo to Tomo ni" is included in Fukuyama's latest single "Kodoku na Genshi" released in Japan on August 15.

Marvelous has announced that a special concert to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Toei Animation's PreCure anime franchise will be held at Nakano Sunplaza in Tokyo for two days, on January 19 (one show) and 20 (two shows), 2019. The news was also reported at the "Hugtto! PreCure Live 2018 Live For You!!" concert by the ongoing 15th TV series' main voice cast on Sunday.

 

The two main voice cast from the first TV series Futari wa PreCure (2004-2005): Yoko Honna (Nagisa Misumi) and Yukana (Honoka Yukishiro) are set to appear, alongside Mayumi Gojo (the first anime's OP/ED theme song singer), Rie Hikisaka (the voice of Hugtto PreCure's Hana Nono/Cure Yell), and Kanako Miyamoto (Hugtto PreCure ED song singer). More singers and VAs from the past PreCure series are expected to join the memorial concert.

Thunderbolt Fantasy Sequel Strikes with New Visuals, Music, and More

Puppet series Thunderbolt Fantasy is preparing for its second season. And to get us hype, they've launched a new key visual, new cast members, and news on the new season's themes.

 

The new key visual has just been rolled out on the website:

 

 

In addition, two new characters have been announced. Akira Ishida (Kaworu Nagisa, Evangelion) will be voicing a new character named Teiku, for whom both a design and puppet have been revealed.

 

 

Also joining the cast are Aoi Yuki (Tsuyu, My Hero Academia) as "Mysterious Princess" and Sho Hayami (Max Jenius, Macross) as Kaseimeiko.

 

Providing music will be Takanori Nishikawa and Hiroyuki Sawano, with the OP "His/Story" and the ED "Roll the Dice."

 

 

Thunderbolt Fantasy 2 premieres on TOKYO MX, BS11, and Sun TV on October 2.
