First announced in a June interview, genre anime/manga pioneer Go Nagai will be reviving his mecha series UFO Robot Grendizer in a Grendizer Giga manga series, now scheduled to launch in the November issue of Champion Red, on sale September 19th. The issue will also feature Leiji Matsumoto's new Harlock & Tochiro short stories.

Following seminal internally piloted giant robot Mazinger Z and Great Mazinger, Go Nagai introduced Grendizer in a 1975 anime and a manga illustrated by Gosaku Ota. The series is also known internationally as Goldorak, and made appearances in the US as part of the Shogun Warriors toy line and as Grandizer in the Force Five syndication package.

Champion Red has previously featured revivals and short stories of Go Nagai's Mazinger Z, Devil Man, Getter Robo, Cutie Honey and Abashiri Family.

The latest addition to Sentai Filmworks' anime lineup is Reideen, the 2007 remake of 1975's super robot anime Brave Raideen. The series will be available soon through select digital outlets, with a home video release to follow at a later date.

Reideen is directed by Mitsuru Hongo (Outlaw Star, Pilot Candidate), with Takuya Saito (Sakura Wars: The Movie, Bunny Drop) on animation direction and Shinji Suetomi (The End of Evangelion, Robotics;Notes) on prop design for the Production I.G-produced anime. 

Sentai's synopsis:

Mathematically gifted, Junki Saiga is a typical high school student, until his family hears that his father’s remains were discovered. His father was an archaeologist and researcher who had disappeared during an exploration years ago. Along with his remains were artifacts and notes near Japan’s pyramid, which is a place thought to be man-made. Soon after the shock of his father’s remains being discovered, a meteor comes crashing from the sky carrying a foreign robotic life-form that immediately begins to cause havoc. This sequence of strange events simultaneously triggers a bracelet left from his father’s research to activate and merge with an ancient robot that had been hidden inside Japan’s pyramid, this is REIDEEN. To save the world Junki and REIDEEN must fight this alien threat! Faced with multiple enemies, REIDEEN and Junki must overcome those that seek REIDEEN’s power and those that want to see REIDEEN and Junki destroyed. Without the help of the nation or even his friends, Junki must push himself to succeed in piloting REIDEEN.

Gundam creator Yoshiyuki Tomino's long-awaited space elevator work G-Reco kicks off on ANIME-ISM, a midnight programming block of MBS, in October. Before that, a theatrical compilation of the first three episodes will be screened in 13 theaters across Japan between August 23 and September 5. A Third preview for the project has been posted.

The Asahi Shimbun has recently offered a bit of context to the series

The movie and series is set in a new timeline called the Reguild Century, which follows the Universal Century calendar originally featured in Tomino's previous series. The story centers around a young cadet pilot involved in a mission to protect an orbital elevator tower connecting Earth and space. It is said that the series will be a story of "boy meets girl and robot."

"Reconguista" stems from the Spanish word "Reconquista," which refers to a 781-year period when the Iberian Peninsula was gradually reclaimed by Christian kingdoms after centuries of Islamic rule. It is also said that "G" stands for something else other than Gundam, although that has yet to be revealed.

The site for the upcoming second Durarara!! anime returns to old favorites for its third visual with a look at everyone's favorite underground doctor and Dullahan, Celty Sturluson and Shinra Kishitani.

The second Durarara!! anime series is planned for January 2015. Key staff including director Takahiro Omori, composition writer Noboru Takagi and character designer Takahiro Kishida are returning, but production credits go to Shuka rather than Brains Base.

A new preview has offered a look at the return of the anime adaptation of Yui Hara's schoolgirl comedy Kin-iro Mosaic in upcoming sequel anime Hello!! Kinmoza.

The girls also crossed over with Kannagi to promote the release of the latter series' ninth volume.

A special edition of Kannagi 9 was offered with drama CD, and of course there were various retailer incentives including gift cards, CD covers and clearfiles.

Bandai Namco Games is here with another trailer for Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, but there aren't any pulse-pounding fights or character intros on display. Instead we have a look at the fighter's new online lobby, which lets players stroll around with their avatars, chat, and set up battles with others. See the various Persona locations and more below. 

The region-free Persona 4 Arena Ultimax hits PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in North America on September 30.

Most tokusatsu (special effects) series feature Japanese superheroes in brightly colored outfits duking it out for dominance of your sunny weekend mornings. Garo—which originally aired for 25 episodes on TV Tokyo from 2005-2006—was different. Decidedly more "adult," the late-night series is rolling on with a slate of new projects including an anime spin-off. 

The cast is now set to include Daisuke Namikawa as Leon Lewis, Kenyu Horiuchi as Herman Lewis, Katsuhito Nomura as Alfanso SanVariante and Romi Park as Emma Guzman. Sayaka Sasaki (Senran Kagura's opening) sings the ending. And, of course, JAM Project performs the opening. 

Attack on Titan's Yasuko Kobayashi will be writing an original anime series that continues the Zero line. Animator Yuichiro Hayashi directs the MAPPA production, planned for fall.

Margaret joins her sister Elizabeth as a playable character in Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. While the other fighters have one fixed persona, Margaret is able to use multiple personas in battle.

Margaret was recently announced as the latest playable addition to Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. She'll be coming to the fighter as post-launch paid DLC in Japan, and while we don't have the North American details yet, Famitsu has an online preview with some screens that show how she looks kicking butt in Ultimax.

As previously reported, Margaret will use Personas Yoshitsune, Cu Chulainn, and Ardha. She can also nail a one-hit KO with her finishing move, "Morning Star of the Dawn," which summons the Lucifer Persona. 

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax hits PlayStation 3 in Japan on August 28, followed by a region-free release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in North America this fall.

(Sekai Seifuku ~ Bouryaku no Zvezda OP). Also in the second half of the program, she will perform with highly regarded guitarist Masato Ishinari. Fate/hollow ataraxia, the visual novel sequel set half a year after Fate/stay night, is set for release on PS Vita in a port featuring touch-screen support, full voice acting, a new ufotable opening, theme by Aimer and mini-games including the new tower defense Capsule Servant and a return to Illya's Castle.

A new preview offers a look at the latter. If you've seen the Carnival Phantasm spoof series, this is what the characters were playing in the special.

The game is set to be released in Japan November 27th.

Married Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno and manga artist Moyocco Anno ( Insufficient Direction, Memoirs of Amorous Gentlemen) have made a bit of a tradition of contributing lanterns to the summer Bonbori Matsuri, held at the Tsurugaoka Hachiman-gū shrine in Kamakura.
