Now that Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is out on PlayStation 3 in Japan, Atlus updated the official website to offer a little warning to anyone feeling trigger-happy when it comes to spoilers. Atlus has made similar pleas in the past, and this one is being enforced by a very angry-looking Shadow Teddie.
The message from the site warns that spoilers for the fighting game's story content are "strictly forbidden," and promises a variety of curses to those who ignore the warning. Curses include:
"Being stuck in the corner of the screen and never being able to escape"
"Having your character constantly accidentally counter-block, and thus having them continuously jump backwards like an idiot"
"Having countless fan mail spam your mail account day and night"
Atlus promises guilty parties will experience these and other cruel "death" curses and will "suffer for all time."
Atlus also paired the jokey bit with a more direct request:
"We would ask that players refrain from posting story spoilers on video sites, live streams, and social networking services like twitter. Similarly, posting videos before release of the game is strictly forbidden. We ask that players be considerate so that others can enjoy our game as much as possible."
Appropriately enough, there's a new Japanese "Shadow Forms" trailer to go along with its launch:
Persona 4 Arena Ultimax makes its way to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in North America on September 30.

Last week's Penguinbear Project countdown has ended with announcement of plans for a Yuri Kuma Arashi TV anime, helmed by Kunihiko Ikuhara (Sailor Moon, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Penguindrum), with animator Etsuko Sumimoto adapting manga tie-in author Akiko Morishima's original character designs on the Silver Link production. The manga's home magazine, Comic Birz hypes the news on the cover of its October issue, out August 30th.
Baka Updates describes the series:
The "intellectual fantasy" follows Kureha, a "transparent" high school girl who is plain and is barely noticed by others. Seemingly every night, she has a "dream about a bear and transparent storm." In this dream, her mysterious classmate Ginko Yurishiro appears in the form of a bear.

The name of Sunao Katabuchi has found a place in people’s minds for two very different anime: the high octane action series Black Lagoon and his gentle and timeless film Mai Mai Miracle. But Mr. Katabuchi is a veteran to the anime world, having started his career doing a few stories for Sherlock Hound.
Building on his strength of portraying the wonder of everyday life in Mai Mai Miracle is his next directorial work, In This Corner of the World based on the manga by Fumiyo Kouno. The story takes place takes place in pre-World War II Hiroshima and follows the new experiences of a young newlywed woman.
At Otakon, Mr. Katabuchi spoke a lot about the project which is being produced by Masao Maruyama of studio MAPPA with animation direction by Hidenori Matsubara, both of whom were in attendance. A special exhibit of production artwork was also shown over the weekend which revealed how much care they are taking to get the historical details right.
Reverse Thieves: Let’s talk about the beginning of In This Corner of the World’s production. When did MAPPA get involved? When did Mr. Matsubara come on board?
Sunao Katabuchi: When MAPPA was first created, the project was already there. It is my belief that MAPPA was created to make things like this.
Before this, we made a short video called Hana wa Saku. It was a charity work for people who fell victim to the 2011 tsunami and earthquake. So Matsubara-san was involved with that as an animator, too. He drew everyday life with the most precision; at least that is how I felt and that’s the exact reason I wanted him for [In This Corner of the World].
RT: In the animation of In This Corner of the World, how will you execute the art changes which occur in the manga?
SK: Trying to recreate all of those style changes is going to be impossible because as you can see (flips through a volume of the manga) it is made of many different art styles throughout the period. The style of manga is white and black, a monochrome world, and we need to create that in color, too. But what we really want to create is “what if Kouno Fumiyo had drawn this in color?” So, I was being told to get as many color pictures from Kouno Fumiyo as I could for that purpose. So, we may be able to recreate some of her color style, that is one thing we are attempting to do.
RT: How involved is Fumiyo Kouno with the production?
SK: We have lots of conversations. Like, you see this building over here (shows a page from the manga), this building was up until very recently but then last year it got taken down. The very last photo that we had of that building, the wall was brown, but actually the building was one Kouno-san had seen many times as a child, and she told me, “When I saw it as a child, it was bluish-gray.” Other things are like where this place was that she drew, those are the kinds of talks that we have. Say for example these caramels (shows a page from the manga), there were two boxes: a type that had 10 and a type that had 20 in them, so we’d ask which one was this? So those details, things like those [we talk about]. Similar to me, she is a person of detail, and being the same type of person I believe we have pretty nice conversations.
RT: Since you mentioned your work on Hana wa Saku, could you tell us more about your feelings on it? What was it like working with Yoko Kanno?
SK: The video was made to be shown exactly two years after the disaster. So, when such a long time passes, people who were in the midst of it or who are currently still in midst of it will remember, but the people who haven’t experienced it would kind of forget about it. So, the real purpose of the video is for remembrance, for those people who have not experienced the earthquake.
Talking with Kanno-san, we actually shared the same view when it came to the music that should be used. And she said that we should use the track we already had but redo it using children’s voices. And also let’s do it with the sound of organs; something you regularly have in a Japanese pre-school. In reality, she was even saying to use an organ that had taken damage from the tsunami. Although the story about the damaged organ did not actually come into reality, I felt we still collaborated wonderfully because we shared the same views.
RT: Finally, we must ask about your time on Sherlock Hound. Do you have any stories about the production you could share?
SK: So, Sherlock Hound was actually while I was in university specializing in movies. My professor back then was a friend of the great Miyazaki and he was needing someone who could draw pictures and also do stories as well. I told the teacher I had learned some animation but I hadn’t studied story and would that be okay? My professor told me to tell [Miyazaki-san] very confidently that I had written many stories before. (laughter) But then if I had said that they wouldn’t they have asked me to present the work I had done in the past? Then the professor said well tell him this: “I was forced to submit them all to the university and I couldn’t show you any at this point.” Miyazaki-san and his crew said, “Well, we can’t decide then, can we? So write a story for us and we’ll decide then.” And that is what you have on film right now. The biggest lesson of the day: listen to your teachers.

This past weekend's Otakuthon convention in Québec saw a few new announcements for Crunchyroll, bundled with some further details on previously announced shows. First up, there's another Super Robot Wars series joining the lineup, with Super Robot Wars OG: Divine Wars set to debut on Friday, August 29 at 3:00pm Pacific Time.
Divine Wars will be available to audiences in the United States and Canada.
Synopsis:
In “Super Robot Wars OG: Divine Wars”, the Space Era has begun and human civilization has expanded into space. But in the future, Earth is a very different place. At the start of the 21st century, two meteors strike the planet sending humanity spiraling into chaos. After a series of wars, the Earth Federation Government unites all the peoples of Earth under one flag and finally restores the peace. But then a third meteor strikes Earth in the Marquesas Islands of the South Pacific. This meteor, however, is different. Inside it is a cache of alien technology and proof that invaders are heading to Earth in order to reclaim the planet ... or worse yet, invade it. The technology that was discovered is now utilized by the government to create humanoid robots, called Personal Troopers, in order to defend Earth from annihilation. And the battle begins!
Crunchyroll also specified the launch day for Hanamonogatari, which is… today! Keep your eyes on the page for more on its exact debut time.
The special Mushi-shi episodes 11 and 12 should be going up this week, as well.
If you're itching for more J-Drama, Crunchyroll announced the addition of medical drama IRYU - Team Medical Dragon season 1—which features a soundtrack by Attack on Titan and Kill la Kill composer Hiroyuki Sawano—and manga adaptation Liar Game. Both series kick off on Wednesday, September 24, with the full season available for All-Access and Drama members. Free members will be able to watch 2 episodes a week starting September 24.
IRYU - Team Medical Dragon and Liar Game will be available to Crunchyroll members in the following territories: USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, South Africa, Netherlands, Central and South America including the Caribbean, Australia, New Zealand, Scandinavia, Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Belgium, Italy, Poland, Denmark, Hungary, Czech Republic, Romania, France and DOM/TOM, and Andorra.
Synopsis:
Ryutaro Asada, a renegade but brilliant surgeon, was being framed for a misdiagnosis and let go by the North Japanese Hospital. He went into exile and lived in a seaside shack when he was visited by Akira Kato, assistant professor of the Faculty of Cardiac Surgery at Meishin University Medical Hospital. Despite being a female doctor, Akira managed to become an assistant professor. She was ambitious and set her goal to be promoted to full professor by succeeding in a surgery using the Batista technique - an extremely difficult type of heart surgery - and to write a paper on it. A year ago, Akira witnessed Ryutaro's skills when he was an NGO doctor and was impressed enough to seek his assistance in the Batista technique.
Synopsis:
Adapted from the manga of the same name, Liar Game centers around Nao Kanzaki, a student who was blackmailed into joining a "Liar Game" and ended up losing 100 million yen. In order to repay the debt, she enlists the help of Shinichi Akiyama, a genius swindler who was only recently released from jail for bankrupting one of Japan's largest scam companies in Japan.

The Sunrise animation studio held yet another industry panel, this one during the Otakuthon anime convention earlier this weekend. As always, more details were confirmed concerning future and current projects.
Starting with recent projects, Code Geass Akito The Exiled is now 4 episodes deep and is still in production, with comments suggesting that the production is being drawn out due to the heavy activity on the production side of the company. One current series that was confirmed for future North American availability is Aikatsu, which will begin streaming with English subs through Daisuki in Canada starting next month. Sunrise also detailed its October Fall season titles:
Cross Ange: Rondo of Angel and Dragon, with the manga version just starting (and in English) on the Comic Walker service. The main voice actress is Mizuki Nana and she will also sing the opening theme. Sunrise also announced its involvement in the Tribe Cool Crew Dance Project with the Avex Group entertainment conglomerate, with more details coming in the future.
Details were also provided for Sunrise's recent Gundam titles, starting with Gundam Build Fighters, which is currently available at Gundam.info with English subtitles. The next series in Gundam Build Fighters Try has had another key plot detail confirmed in the battle styles during the series, with Build Fighters featuring 1v1 battles, while in Build Fighters Try, 3v3 battles will be common, with elements found in team battles.
The latest Gundam Unicorn DVD release is slated for October 7th 2014, while it continues streaming on Daisuki.net. Sunrise also detailed the latest Tomino-helmed Gundam project in Gundam Reconguista in G. The series was directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino, with episodes 1-3 screening in Japan starting on Saturday in selected movie theaters.
The TV broadcast begins in October, and Sunrise representatives emphasized that "reconguista" doesn't exist as a word while confirming that it was being produced for 3-4 years. During that time the title was always meant to be reconquista, from the Spanish word meaning "re-conquest", but at the beginning of this year, series director Tomino decided to change the title to reconguista, because he doesn't want the title to be reconquista and wants the emphasis that the "gui" creates, so that the title sounds cool.
Sunrise also confirmed the first details regarding Mobile Suit Gundam The Origin I, which will be the first episode in the series. The episode titled "Blue-Eyed Casval" will be released in Spring 2015 and will be an original story by Yasuhiko Yoshikazu. For the 35th anniversary of the Gundam franchise, Sunrise also announced the first details of a brand new project involving the 18m full-scale Gundam that first appeared in Odaiba in 2009.
The new project involves making it move mechanically, with a worldwide focus on ideas and submissions, known as the Gundam Global Challenge as a part of the wider 40th anniversary celebration planned for 2019. The submission plans for the following two sections will be in the *Real Entertainment Section and *Virtual Entertainment Section, with the deadline for primary applications being set for February 27th 2015. One of the judges in the project will be Yoshiyuki Tomino himself. Further information can be found below:
http://gundam-challenge.com/en/index.html
Finally, for the Q&A half of the panel, Sunrise confirmed and teased new details on various projects.
Q: For Valvrave, why did things get rushed toward the end?
A: From the first moment, we planned to make 2 halves... the first season was meant to be an introduction, and the second season was meant to be the problems in the world.
Q: Gundam in Reconguista in NA?
A: Working on making it available in NA streaming few days after broadcast, plans not finalized yet.
Q: How many animes are produced in 1 year and how long does it take?
A: Right now we have 14 studios/production lines... All the studios that are working on an anime.
Q: Why didn't Sunrise do the A-1 idolmaster series?
A: Sunrise did Idolmaster Xenoglossia. It didn't do well, and Bandai Namco wanted it done true to the story.
Q: GBFT originally planned or due to the popularity of GBF?
A: Original version only planned for Gundam Build Fighters, but since it became very popular, the studio decided to produce more
Q: (Question about series length)
A: Prefer to make more than 26 episodes, because the energy to put into the production is the same for 13 or 26. So that's why the company prefers to make longer series, so we can divide up the cost, it's more efficient to make a lot. Also, another big reason is that Sunrise is backed by Bandai Namco. And since Sunrise anime normally have figures, toys or other products, having 26 eps gives them 6 months to develop the products.
Q: Can you say anything about the Love Live movie?
A: The content is something that Love Live fans will really love.
Q: Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere S3?
A: No plans right now
Q: Live-action Gundam movie?
A: No plans, but not that there is no possibility. We want you guys to want the movie.
Q: D&D/Warhammer and other board game style Gundam figures?
A: We noticed that there are a lot of fans who like those. We don't know why, but the war/board game style things aren't very popular (in Japan). For Bandai, which normally develops toys, they aren't interested in making it for Japan, but for a worldwide audience, it's a good idea...
But actually, two years ago we tried to make it...You know the Dominion card game? We made a game similar to Dominion and put it on sale 2 years ago...
Q: What prompted to Sunrise to join the other animation production companies to form Daisuki?
A: We wanted to have one company which streamed all over the world from Japan So all the big production companies in Japan joined together to make one studio that can broadcast anime all around the world. So it was more like banishing the pirate version, if we broadcast directly from Japan, everyone can watch One Piece, Conan, Lupin directly from Japan.
Q: What effect on FUNi and CR?
A: In general, we want to live together Since in fact, Daisuki is still a small company, so for right now, they don't care about being a small company. We were planning to share a lot of products from Aniplex, TMS, Toei and Sunrise...
Q: Second season of Daily Lives of High School Boys?
A: I was producer of it... and right now, there are no plans for a second season...
Q: New season of Gintama or waiting for the series to get further?
A: Company secret.
Q: Why did you keep teasing the movies?
A: Before we made the films, the creators made some trailers as a joke a few years before, not seriously thinking they would make a feature film.

It's time to start your speculating because the site for Kunihiko Ikuhara's (Sailor Moon, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Penguindrum) Penguinbear project has been updated with a countdown that starts at "5."
Teasers for Penguinbear with a pointer to the site circulated with Penguimdrum in summer 2012's Comiket 82. Brief Yuri Kuma Arashi was later screened at a March 2013 event.
