AnimEigo, a North Carolina-based company that distributes anime and live-action Japanese films, recently teased an announcement related to one of their licenses:
Going to be spilling all sorts of Beans at the AnimEigo #awacon panel, Sat@6:30pm http://t.co/pS2TzwhG4h
— Robert Woodhead (@AnimEigo) September 20, 2015
It seems pretty clear from the capitalization that AnimEigo founder Robert Woodhead is referring to one of the company's licenses: the 1989 OAV Riding Bean, which is based on a manga by Kenichi Sonoda.
Riding Bean follows the misadventures of Bean Bandit, aka the Road Buster, a nearly superhumanly tough courier with a suped-up car and a penchant for bulletproof clothing. Bean finds himself framed for kidnapping when a package he's hired to transport turns out to be the heiress to a wealthy family, and mayhem ensues.
AnimEigo has previously released Riding Bean on VHS and DVD, so it's likely the new announcement will involve a Bluray release of Riding Bean, possibly spear-headed by a crowdfunding campaign similar to the ones done for Bubblegum Crisis and Otaku no Video. We'll have to wait for news of the panel at Anime Weekend Atlanta 2015 for confirmation.
Anime Weekend Atlanta 2015 is an anime convention in Atlanta, Georgia, that runs from September 24 to September 27, 2015, at the Renaissance Atlanta Waverly and Sheraton Suites hotels and the Cobb Galleria convention center.
