Following Mikazuki Augus and Orga Itsuka from Iron Blooded Orphans introduced yesterday, Bandai's official online store Premium Bandai will also start exclusively accepting pre-orders for another two deformed "Mochi Mochi Mascot" stuffed dolls inspired by two main characters from the Gundam series, Kira Yamato and Athrun Zala from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED. Pre-orders will be accepted from October 14 at 16:00 (JST), simultaneously with the Mikazuki and Orga dolls. The price is the same 4,320 yen (about 42 US dollars), and scheduled shipping date is in February 2017.

It was confirmed yesterday that Mayu Watanabe, a 22-year-old member of Japanese girl idol group AKB48, will make a guest voice appearance in the upcoming 38th episode of the Mahou Tsukai PreCure!/Maho Girls PreCure! TV anime to be aired on October 23. She has been known as big fan of the PreCure series since she saw the first installment Futari wa PreCure aired in 2004 when she was an elementary school student.

 

She plays herself called "Mayu," who is a popular idol in Nashi Mohou-kai (No Magic Realm/Human World). Her true identity is a magician who was born in the Magical World, and Mirai and Riko are surprised at seeing her on the stage of the annual event in the Magical World.

 

The news was announced in the PR event for the upcoming feature film Eiga Mahou Tsukai PreCure! Kiseki no Henshin! Cure Mofurun!/Maho Girls PreCure! The Movie: Miracle Transformation! Cure Mofurun!

held in Tokyo yesterday. Watanabe also performs the theme song for the film, "Tadashii Mahou no

Tsukaikata (The Correct Way to Use Magic)." The 21st PreCure feature film (13th non-All Stars film)

will open in Japan on October 29, 2016.

Marvelous shared some new info for Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star, starting with a look at Free Mode. As you might expect, Free Mode lets you replay stages you've cleared with any of the 16 Servants, and you can swap in a substitute Servant thanks to Mystic Code items. 

 

 

You'll also be able to tweak the difficulty settings in Fate/Extella's stages, with greater rewards going to those who complete them on higher difficulties.

 

 

Beyond that we have a trailer previewing the 'Pure Night Dress,' which is a first-print bonus costume for Nero Claudius and Artoria Pendragon.

One of fall's most anticipated manga adaptations is Chica Umino's  Manga Taisho, Kodansha Manga Award and Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize-winning March Comes In Like A Lion. NHK General TV, the main channel of Japan's national public broadcasting station, is viewed by 40 million households, it got some tributes from not entirely unexpected, but very strange never the less sources.

"Episode 8" of Ikeda's new chapter series begins this month

Funimation Films has announced their acquisition of anime movie One Piece Film: Gold from Toei Animation. The film, from Eiichiro Oda, original creator and executive producer of the One Piece anime series, is the 13th film in the franchise and the first since 2012. It grossed more than $47.8 million at the box office – making it the biggest ‘One Piece’ movie ever and the 6th highest grossing film of the year. Funimation Films will distribute the movie in both the U.S. and Canada as a limited theatrical event from January 10 – 17, 2017. Ticket sales will be announced in the coming weeks.

An early look at a listing for the Little Witch Academia TV anime have the Trigger fantasy returning in January 2017. Shorts mastermind Yoh Yoshinari is back as director, with the second short's Michiru Shimada back on series composition and animation Shuhei Handa as main character designer. 

 

Megumi Han is back as Atsuko "Akko" Kagari, with Fumiko Orikasa as Lotte Yanson, Michiyo Murase as Sucy Manbavaran and Yōko Hikasa as Diana Cavendish.

 

 

At the Trigger panel at Anime Expo, the anime studio announced that the Little Witch Academia TV anime follow-up to 2013's Anime Mirai short and 2015 crowd-funded production will be streamed internationally on Netflix.

Haikasoru, Viz's prose sci-fi imprint, plans to release the third volume of Yoshiki Tanaka's cult sci-fi series Legend of Galactic Heroes on November 15. So far, the listings are just for print paperback, but the earlier two had eBook and audio book versions. After a bit of hype during the week, over the weekend, they revealed their plans for the next three volumes.

This week's Diamond is Unbreakable episode 27, "I'm an Alien," debuted new opening,"Great Days" by Karen Aoki & Daisuke Hasegawa. In it, fans noted a tantalizing hint at plans for JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part V - Vento Aureo (or Golden Wind). David Production hasn't been particularly forthcoming about their plans for JoJo's, even when they've been obvious, but this does leave hope for a follow-up to the current run, ending this fall, coming sooner rather than later.

Chō Shōnen Tantei-dan NEO premieres in January with story set in 2117

This month, Sunrise, makers of some of your favorite mecha anime (plus some school idol stuff you might have heard of), launched their own light novel imprint -  "Yatate Bunko", named after staff pseudonym Hajime Yatate. Now announced, they'll be using this to explore Gundam events occurring shortly after UC 0096's Laplace's Box Incident (Gundam Unicorn) in Mobile Suit Gundam: Twilight Axis. Ark Performance  (Arpeggio of Blue Steel, Gundam's Johnny Ridden stories) came up with the story and designs, Koujirou Nakamura (Arpeggio and Arslan anime) writes the book. 

 

In it, a pair with Zeon history (a weapons developer and a test pilot) living on Side 6 confront their pasts when they are recruited to join a civilian survey team sent by the expanding Earth Federation Forces to investigate the Axis remnants. 

 

 

 

 

 

Looking back into the original conflict from the original Gundam anime, incidents from the One Year War are revisited with some help from Peter Benda, a former Earth Federation Force [EFF] Engineer, and Rem Lalique, a former Zeon Force Engineer in new mock documentary GUNDAM Behind the Front.

Takashi Miike helms Part 4 story starring Kento Yamazaki, Ryunosuke Kamiki

On September 1st, 28-year-old anime voice actress Risa Taneda announced that she will be taking hiatus from her work for a while to recieve medical treatment for an undisclosed illness. Smartphone RPG Fate/Grand Order has now announced that her role of Shielder Matthew (or Mashu - both have appeared on official material) Kyrielite has been recast, as the key character is set to be featured in updated missions debuting October 1st.

 

Rie Takahashi (Re:Zero's Emilia, Konosuba's Megumin) will assume the role. For the time being, Taneda remains the voice of the game's Kiyohime, Marie Antoinette and Hata Hari.

 

The game's site thanks fans for their understanding and wishes Taneda a speedy recovery.

To promote the upcoming TV anime premiere, an official March Comes in Like a Lion-themed cafe will open at Marunouchi Reading Style Cafe on the fourth floor of the KITTE building in Tokyo for a limited time from October 9 to December 30. The cafe will have a photo spot that customers can take photos with life-size character standees, a small gallery space to display memorial scenes from the anime, and will be decorated with ornaments inspired the anime, including cheering messages. Various collaboration menu and merchandise will be also offered.

 

The TV anime adaptation of Chika Umino's Sangatsu no Lion/March Comes in Like a Lion shogi-themed manga will premiere on NHK General TV at 23:00 on October 8 (JST).
