Original anime from MAPPA/Lapin Track slated for 2019

It was confirmed during the live-streaming of the first 13 episodes of his Revolutionary Girl Utena TV anime on Nico Nico Live last night that 53-year-old famed anime director Kunihiko Ikuhara is currently working on his new original TV anime project called Sarazanmai for premiere in 2019.

 

A teaser site and Twitter for the mysterious project also opened. MAPPA (Yuri!!! on ICE) and Lapintrack co-work on anime production. The latter priviously joined the production of Ikuhara's previous directorial work Yurikuma Arashi in 2015. 

 

No other details, including the meaning of the title, is currently unknown. A 15-second teaser PV titled "I tell you the truth" revealed last night says:

 

-Even if everything is gone and this world becomes empty.

-I tell you the truth.

-You are connected, but you are still alone.

-Don't let it go. Desire is your life.

 

 

 

Ikuhara says on his official Twitter,

"We are working very hard on production of 'Sarazanmai.' More information will be revealed from

Fate/Grand Order is getting another spinoff, this time in the form of a board game called Fate/Grand Order Duel. This fifth FGO-related project was revealed at the FGO Winter Festival 2017-2018.

In advance of the next Detective Conan film, fans have been able to engage in interactive programs and events bringing them into the world of Case Closed. As of March 1, the plot of Zero the Enforcer was more within reach than ever, as Rei Furuya's phone number was "leaked" on Twitter.

 

The phone number -- 0180-991-413, for the curious -- is part of the new "SECRET MISSION" campaign for fans. Call the number for a message from Rei dealing with the plot of the film. But play close attention: apparently, not everyone gets the same message. Some will get an innocuous recording of Rei talking about his current case, but others may get a little more inside intel.

The SECRET MISSION website lists three activities in total, starting with Rei's phone message, titled "Secret Amuro Call." Next we can expect "Ran-chan Datte JK," focusing on Ran Mouri, followed by the Conan-centric "Miraculous 1-Day Police Chief."

 

Zero the Enforcer opens in Japan April 13.

The official website for Gundam Build Divers, the new TV anime series from Sunrise's the Gundam Build franchise, confirmed today that it is set to premiere on TV Tokyo and its affiliates on April3 at 17:55 (JST), then on BS 11 at 19:300 four days later. The Gundam.info's official YouTube channel has posted a new 100-second English-subtitled PV to introduce its new characters, Gunplas, and story settings.

The official website for The Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These, the upcoming new anime adaptation project based on Yoshiki Tanaka's sci-fi novel series Ginga Eiyu Densetsu/The Legend of the Galactic Heroes, announced today that its first season "Kaikou (Encounter)" will premiere on cable television station Family Gekijo on April 3, then on Tokyo MX on the following day, on MBS and BS 11 on April 7.

 

Shunsuke Tada (Kuroko's Basketball) serves as director of the new adaptation animated by Production I.G, alongside his Kuroko's Basketball partners: series composition writer Noboru Takagi, character designer Yoko Kikuchi, and chief animation director Takayuki Goto.

 

The new anime's first season based on the novel's first volume "Reimei-hen/Dawn" will be aired for 12 episodes between April and June 2018, then the second season "Seiran (Stellar War)" will be

screened in Japanese theaters in three chapters including four episodes each in 2019.

The tunes of everyone's favorite historical fanfic battle simulator are getting some extra recognition this month. Fate/Grand Order's first soundtrack album attained the "Animation Album of the Year" award from the 32nd annual Japan Gold Disc Awards.

 

Headed up by the Recording Industry Association of Japan, the annual awards name winners in their various categories based on sales figures, digital distribution, and music video popularity over the preceding year.

 

 

Fate/Grand Order Original Soundtrack I is a 3-disc set containing background and battle music from across the game, including battle themes for special events. The collection kicks off with "Shikisai," Maaya Sakamoto's opening theme for the game.

 

 

Also recognized was the soundtrack alum for Kono Oto Tomare!, a manga about a high school koto club. The album took recognition as "Best Traditional Japanese Album of the Year."

J-pop trio Kalafina, known for their anime themes, will be celebrating their tenth anniversary with a new documentary.

 

Kalafina has supplied music for shows like Madoka Magica and Fate/stay night, but their history goes much further back. The new doco is titled Kalafina 10th Anniversary Film ~Yume ga Tsumugi Kagayaki no HARMONY~, and will show both live performance clips and behind-the-scenes footage. There will also be interviews with all three members of the group.

 

 

Notably, the film will show moments from the group's tenth anniversary Budokan show, which took place January 23.

 

Kalafina 10th Anniversary Film ~Yume ga Tsumugi Kagayaki no HARMONY~ will run in Japanese cinemas from March 30 to April 12.

As reported, the long-awaited second volume of Hirohiko Araki's Kishibe Rohan wa Ugokanai/Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan one-shot series is set to be released in Japan on July 19 and its 3,500 yen special edition includes an original anime disc based on "Episode #2 Mutsukabezaka" from the first volume. Warner Brothers Japan's official YouTube channel today posted a 90-second preview for it.

 

The PV confirms that Rohan is again voiced by Takahiro Sakurai, who played the character in the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable TV anime (2016). Toshiyuki Kato (Diamond Is Unbreakable series director) serves as director at david production. Pre-orders will be accepted until May 16.

 

 

 

The second volume will include "Episode #4 Mochizuki-ke no Otsukimi" (5th episode), "Episode #7

Getsuyoubi - Tenkiame" (6th), "Episode #9 D・N・A" (7th), and "Episode #10 The Run" (8th) that

was published in the latest 13th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump released in Japan today

on February 26.

Previously, we announced that Princess Tutu would be celebrating its 15th anniversary with an orchestral concert. The festivities are growing this spring, thanks to the addition of an exhibit and cafe, as well as an autograph meet-up with the showmakers.

 

 

From April 5-16, Sasayuri Cafe will host an exhibition of various materials from the series, including storyboards. "Admission" consists of purchase of one food item off the menu. Merchandise will also be for sale; brochures will be available later showing what goods will be on offer.

 

On April 14, creator Ikuko Ito and director Junichi Sato will be at the cafe for a three-hour autograph session from noon to 3 pm. Numbered tickets will be required for autographs, and will be distributed starting half an hour before the session.

Fairy Tail will be exception with 30 catalog volumes

 

We first posted about the latest anime film from acclaimed director Mamoru Hosoda (The Boy and the Beast, Wolf Children, Summer Wars) back in December, and now Mirai no Mirai is gearing up for its English theatrical debut. GKIDS announced the license of the film, which will be released in North American theaters this fall as MIRAI. 

 

GKIDS' theatrical release will include both English-subtitled and dubbed versions. 

 

Synopsis:

One day, Kun's mother brings home a new family member. For the four-year-old boy, joy quickly turns to disappointment when the little sister replaces her brother as the center of attention. The boy can't bring himself to accept her as his sister. But things turn magical when, with a mysterious garden as his gateway, the boy encounters his mother as a little girl and his great-grandfather as a young man, and has a series of surprising adventures with his "older" sister from the future. These experiences change how he sees the world and help him grow into the big brother he was meant to be.

Following the Blu-ray box release last August, a special orchestra concert to commemorate the TV anime Princess Tutu's 15th anniversary, titled "Princess Tutu 15th Anniversary Concert Kinkan-cho Music Festival ~Das Goldkronefest~," is confirmed to be held at Mitaka City Public Hall in Tokyo at 17:00 on April 14.

 

The memorial event includes the anime music's orchestra performance by Orchester Goldkrone Akademie and a talk session by the anime's director and two main voice cast members. Kaoru Wada, the original composer of the anime's soundtrack music, will join as musical director. 9,000 yen (85 US dollars) ticket has been available at ePlus since yesterday. 

 

The ballet-themed fantasy anime directed by Junichi Sato (Sailor Moon, Ojamajo Doremi) was aired for 26 episodes from August 2002 to May 2003, and was critically praised for its unique world setting

and dramatic use of classical music related to each episode. Sato, who is now attached with the 15th

PreCure TV series Hugtto! PreCure, will join the event along with the two main VAs: Nanae Kato (Ahiru/

Princess Tutu) and Naoki Yanagi (Mytho).

 

The anime's character designer/chief animation director Ikuko Ito newly drew the poster illustration below.

The official website for the upcoming TV anime Layton Mystery Tanteisha ~Katrie no Nazotoki File~ (Layton Mystery Detective Agency ~Katrielle's Mystery Solving File~) announced that it is set to premiere on Fuji TV on April 8 and posted a 60-second first PV introducing its main characters, including the protagonist Katrielle Layton, the daughter of Professor Layton, voiced by 28-year-old popular anime voice actress Kana Hanazawa (Kuroneko in Oreimo, Hinata Kawamoto in March comes like a lion).

Also as reported, 36-year-old Tsubasa Imai, a member of Johnny & Associates' idol duo Tackey & Tsubasa,

will make a guest voice appearance in its first episode as Simon Light, a British man who becomes the
