Christopher Lee returns with a new heavy metal Christmas carol classic

by Rob Bricken
Alainmendez

You always rock Christopher Lee.

Oh, man. Christopher Lee is so old, you guys. Which is partially why it's so wonderful that's he's still churning out awesome holiday music like this new heavy metal cover (with accompanying metal lyrics!) of "Jingle Bells" titled, of course, "Jingle Hell." The other reason is that his singing voice is still amazing.

NHK Explains "Kan Colle" To the World

by Scott Green

The hot new otaku obsession of 2013 was the browser based free-to-play game starring anthropomorphic moe battleships Kantai Collection or "Combined Fleet Girls Collection", KanColle for short. More manga are constantly launching. An anime is in the works. It's near the top of the list of doujinshi for Comiket 85. Everyone from Lucky Star's Kagami Yoshimizu to Serial Experiments Lain's Yoshitoshi ABe are creating homages

Don't quite understand what it's all about?

Imagine-Nation, an anime/manga/game spotlight show on NHK World's public broadcasting global service, hosted by Super Sentai actress Chiaki Horan and Greek martial artist Nicholas Pettas, have a helpful overview with producer Kensuke Tanaka talking about the project.

Watch it here.

One thing that impressed Mr Pettas about Kan Colle is how the girls show battle damage with outfit destruction. That concept is exploited in a series of hug pillows, due from Cospa in March 2014

If Osamu Tezuka and Go Nagai Drew "Kill La Kill"

by Scott Green

We looked at some of his retro-remakes earlier this fall, and now Keiichi Tanaka, of ComiPro! fame, is at it again. The daughter of manga pioneer Osamu Tezuka has said of these parodies "We can accept Lion King, but Taknaka Keiichi is unforgiven."

The latest mimic mash-up of hot trends witht he classics sees Tanaka drawing Ryūko Matoi from Kill La Kill in the style of Tezuka and Go Nagai, seminal figure in the devlopment of the transforming magical girl and the piloted mecha.

He's also done a Mako x Space Battleship Yamato crossover

Speaking of Yamato, Tanaka has done a Leiji Matsumoto version of the Kan Colle ship girls

He also did a Tezuka style Kan Colle girl
