Quentin Miller Speaks Out On “Ghostwriting” Drake Lyrics

The man at the center of the Drake lyric scandal has finally broken his silence. After Meek Mill accused Drake of buying rhymes from a mystery ghostwriter by the name of Quentin Miller, the hip-hop streets have been abuzz about who this newcomer is and whether or not he’s the one truly responsible for Drizzy’s signature sound.

The up-and-comer finally took to his personal Tumblr page on Friday afternoon to clear the air on his role (or lack thereof) in Drake’s success:

Winter 2014… I was just another guy working a job he hated with a passion for music…. And somehow found myself on the phone with One of my idols..

i told him i worked in a bakery and his exact words were “F*ck that, your destined for greatness”…

Hearing that from someone that I’ve been studying since 2009, bar for bar…. Theres no way to describe that..

Most of the project was done before i came in the picture.. i remember him playing it for me for the first time thinking “Why am I here?” like.. what does he need me for??

The answer is.. Nothing…

I watched this man piece together words in front of me…

I watched him write/ replace bars 2- 3 at a time on 6pm in NY.. I witnessed him light up, go in and freestyle madonna….

I took notes from the best in the game….

I remember him Showing me the thank you notes in NY before the album dropped.. Showing me the QM, telling me they put me on the credits (Ghostwritter???) … He attached my name to something that touched the world..

When nobody would pay attention, drake saw something in me and reached out… Of all people… drizzy..

Two artist in exact opposite spaces in their career.. We came together and made something special..

I am not and never will be a “ghostwriter” for drake.. Im proud to say that we’ve collaborated .. but i could never take credit for anything other than the few songs we worked on together ..

Thats all i have to say on it.. back to this 1317 sh*t…

Hmmm…well a ghostwriter doesn’t get credited, right? What do you think? Is Quentin just downplaying his hand in If You’re Reading This… to keep his OVO relationships intact…or did he really just lend a helping hand here and there and have his spot unnecessarily blown up by some irate rappers?

[With his Wildheart nationwide tour kicking off next week, R&B singer Miguel talks to SOHH about the importance of his stage presence as compared to his rookie years and names a few of his all-time favorite live performers.]

With practice and with experience I’m becoming more and more the showman and live musician that I envision myself becoming. I don’t necessarily think that there’s an end-all, be-all to that formula.

But I will say that I’m much more confident and much more in the moment than I’ve ever been, and more consistently in the moment than I’ve ever been before.

So, it’s exciting to feel not only the music is on a certain level, but also the showmanship in the live performances is reaching the same level.

Because the honest truth is that I started spending most of my time in the studio, so even things like this, what we’re doing now, interviews, and so on and so forth, being on stage, being in front of the camera, all of those things are things that I learned and grew in front of everyone.

So, it’s cool to feel a new sense of stability, and confidence on stage, on camera, etc.

And some of my favorite artists, man, s**t, Prince and Michael Jackson are the ultimate for me. But then it’s also Freddie Mercury and David Bowie. I think those are my solid go-to guys that I love watching. Elvis Presley is one of them that I go back to. Those are a few of my favorites.

The drama continues between the Houston and Brown families.

On the heels of reports that Bobbi Kristina was being released from the hospital and taken home to “die peacefully”, Bobby Brown’s sister Leolah say that’s not true and blames Pat Houston for wanting BK dead.

Blackalicious is getting ready to drop their fourth studio album, Imani Vol. 1, on Aug. 14. It’s been 10 years since the rap duo dropped The Craft, so a new LP is long overdue. The hip-hop group comprising of Gift of Gab and producer Chief Xcel will be dropping the first installment of a trilogy before the summer’s end. Fans can support the forthcoming project by donating to their Pledge Music campaign.

“Imani Vol. 1 is our fourth album and marks another milestone in our career,” said Xcel while speaking with Rolling Stone. “Each album we do together tends to be a journey within itself that represents a very specific chapter of our lives. From Bosko’s timeless talk box to Zap Mama’s vocal brilliance, the ensemble of musicians, MCs, and vocalists involved in making Imani Vol. 1 all brought something very unique to the project that helped us grow and continue to expand the sound of Blackalicious.”

The pair began working on the album three years ago and have secured guest appearances from Lifesavas, Lateef, Lyrics Born, the Monophonics, vocalist Zap Mama and many more. The first installment to the Imani series, however, will focus primarily on the rap duo.

A$AP Rocky season is here. At.Long.Last.A$AP drops on May 12, but he recently appeared at Red Bull Music Academy in the United Kingdom, where he discusses the album in great detail and more.

Speaking interviewer to Hattie Collins, the music editor of i-D Magazine, Rocky opened up about his upbringing, which wasn’t exclusively in Harlem. That includes his time in The Bronx, which he called home during his teenage years.

Mos Def also makes a cameo appearance early on, during which he speaks about what drew him to A$AP Mob’s movement and why Rocky’s next LP will be dope.

Having pulled a complete 180, Rocky is set to star in the upcoming film DOPE.

Chick hopped on her Instagram to share a few risqué pics of herself posing it up in a living room, rocking a pair of fire red sequin shorts, red pumps….and nothing else!  For what reason?  Who knows. Is there ever one?

These racy shots come on the heels of some apparent shade thrown by her ex-fiance Tyga’s new chick, 17-year-old Kylie Jenner. We’ll explain….

A few days ago, Chyna posted a pic on Instagram flossing her Audemars Piguet watch (given to her by Tyga):

She didn't say much, just used a smiley face emoji in the caption. It appears Tyga gifted her the watch as he posted up their matching watches back in 2013 (during happier times together):

 

Well it appears Tyga may have gifted his current boo Kylie (whom he denies dating in interviews, but is constantly gushing about her on social media) with the exact same watch. And she wants everyone to know it. Soon after Chyna posted the pic of her watch, the Jenner chick posted up a flick rocking a watch identical to Chyna's:  

And she captioned it, "Currently." Bloop! She has since deleted the post. It's interesting to note, Kylie also posted a pic of her watch in December and that pic is still on her IG account, so her last watch pic definitely seems like a shot at Chyna. Mmmhmm....

Tameka Raymond: Umm single. I’m not married. I like being single. I do wish I had more of a significant person I can tell my deep, dark like hey today was a bad day, but I like being single. I think there is a control factor in being in serious relationships and I think I intimidate men.

theJasmineBRAND: I can see that. 

Tameka Raymond: I have a strong personality and I’m a lot. My brain is super quick and a lot of men can’t keep up.

theJasmineBRAND: Would you date another man in the industry?

Tameka Raymond: No I’m cool on that. Been there done that. I’d probably kiss a couple though.

theJasmineBRAND: Who would we kiss if the opportunity presented itself?

Tameka Raymond: I would kiss Idris [Elba].

theJasmineBRAND: Women love him.

Tameka Raymond: You know what I don’t even know if our love is the same. I don’t think nobody loves him like I do.

theJasmineBRAND: Were you surprised or did you already know he got engaged… well was going down the engagement aisle?

Tameka Raymond: Definitely surprised. When I heard I was definitely surprised, but I am very happy for him. Yeah he needs to be happy and have a good situation and be in a great mindset. You know he’s the father of my children. So I want him to be in the best positive situation for him.

theJasmineBRAND: A few months ago there was this sex tape that never came out. Were you supposed to be in it? What was that all about? How do you handle things like that?

Tameka Raymond: I have a teenage son and I have an adult son I don’t want it to affect them. My son is in college. My other son is in high school. That concerns me I don’t want their mother on all fours what the hell… The rest I’m grown I was married. I don’t recall consenting to a tape of such but you know.

theJasmineBRAND: So tell me about your book.

Tameka Raymond: My book. It’s a humorous style guide called, White Bras and 101 Style Phobias.

theJasmineBRAND: What is your biggest fashion pet peeve?

Tameka Raymond: I’m really not into this flooding trend in men.

theJasmineBRAND: What is the most annoying interview question?

Tameka Raymond: It’s usually something to do with my ex-husband because there is life before and after him.

Tameka Raymond: Not realizing my dreams.

Rapper The Game was spotted in Hollywood yesterday with a familiar face. He and model Chantel Jeffries (who has a history of celeb "male friends") hit up The Ivy for lunch. Hmm…couple alert perhaps? Peep their candids inside….

Rapper The Game is living the single life after he and his ex-fiancée Tiffney Cambridge called it quits. Since then, there was a lot of speculation that he was dating 18-year-old model India Love after making her his Woman Crush Wednesday on Instagram. He has denied dating India, but it appears someone else may have caught his eye.

Yesterday, The Game took a break from the studio and was spotted lunching with Miami-based model Chantel Jeffries at celebrity hotspot The Ivy in West Hollywood. Chantal is signed to Wilhelmina International and is often spotted on the Miami/LA party scene with athletes and celebs. She’s also good friends with “Basketball Wives L.A.” star Draya.
 

Not only that, she has a history of being romantically linked to a few celebs. She was once the girlfriend of Washington Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson. She also has been linked to Pop superstar Justin Bieber. Remember when Justin caught that DUI last year in Miami? Yea, well she was the chick “riding around” with Biebz in his Lambo before he was pulled over by police and thrown in jail.

She has also been linked to Bieber's friend/rapper Lil Twist AND she was Diddy's son Justin Combs' date for his high school prom a few years ago. Chick gets around.  And these men have no qualms about sharing.

While dining, Game stopped to pose for a few pictures with fans. And before they headed off on their cutesy lunch date, The Game posted this below:
