9 Ways to Get More Storage Out of a Kitchen That's Short on Cabinets — Organizing Tips from Kitchn

by Caroline Biggs

Tiny kitchens can be tough for a lot of reasons. Along with cramped countertops and puny appliances, a small cooking space often means you're stuck with little to no cabinets for storage. Throw in the fact that you're renting (and can't make permanent changes to your place) and things can start to look really dismal.

Thankfully, with a little scheming, you can turn your skimpy kitchen into a stylishly organized (and storage-savvy) place. Forget that you only have two drawers and some under-sink space! There are still plenty of ways to carve out more storage — no contractor necessary. Read on for nine of our favorite ideas for keeping your kitchen organized when you aren't working with a lot of cabinetry.

Couple Mistakenly Buys Tickets for Bagpipe Band ‘Red Hot Chilli Pipers’ Not Red Hot Chili Peppers

by Lori Dorn

Thinking that they’d gotten a really good price on tickets to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers, an unsuspecting Duncan Robb and his partner Sarah, who live in Chesterfield, Derbyshire UK, excitedly flew over to Belfast, Northern Ireland only to find out that they had not purchased tickets for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but rather The Red Hot Chilli Pipers, a really talented Scottish bagpipe band who performs all over the world. While the pair was disappointed in not seeing their favorite band, they seemed to be pleasantly surprised with the show.

This isn’t the first time this error has occurred and probably won’t be the last.

Here’s the Red Hot Chilli Pipers performing a live version of “Insomnia”

A live cover of “We Will Rock You” and “Eye of the Tiger” from the band’s Blast Live DVD.

this is amazing and terrible and now i want to watch this reportedly awful Voyager episode

“Threshold” is one of the most infamous Star Trek episodes ever. You know what’ we’re talking about—the one with Warp 10 and the weird evolved amphibians. Well, it was also the recent subject of a fake scientific research paper submitted in a test to expose the ever-growing problem of “predatory” scientific journals.

7 Signs That a Recipe Is Good for Weeknight Baking — Weeknight Baking

by Meghan Splawn

Food editor by day, baker by night, I spend a lot of time scrolling past recipes that simply don't work for weeknight baking at home — too many ingredients, fussy steps, and the classic "you want me to use what now?" The good thing is that all that time searching has also given me a keen eye for recipes that will be quick, easy on dishwashing, and use common pantry ingredients so that I can bake on a whim. If you're new to weeknight baking, these are some of the things to look for when choosing a weeknight recipe.

This would be me

Football is, admittedly, a somewhat complicated sport with a byzantine rulebook. However, tonight’s trio of Jeopardy! contestants fell incredibly, woefully short of answering a single question in the whole football category correctly, which is honestly kind of impressive.

Hereditary, A Terrifying Horror Film About a Family's Nightmarish Secret Becoming Unraveled

A24 released the official trailer for Hereditary, a terrifying upcoming horror film written and directed by Ari Aster. The terrifying movie will follow the peculiar Graham family and reveal how their nightmarish family secret slowly becomes unraveled. Hereditary is set to ravage theaters on June 8th, 2018.

When Ellen, the matriarch of the Graham family, passes away, her daughter’s family begins to unravel cryptic and increasingly terrifying secrets about their ancestry. The more they discover, the more they find themselves trying to outrun the sinister fate they seem to have inherited. Making his feature debut, writer-director Ari Aster unleashes a nightmare vision of a domestic breakdown that exhibits the craft and precision of a nascent auteur, transforming a familial tragedy into something ominous and deeply disquieting, and pushing the horror movie into chilling new terrain with its shattering portrait of heritage gone to hell.

Why You Should Invest in Quality Salt and Pepper Mills — Amazon Deal of the Day

by Amanda Waas

If there's one thing we'd like to banish from kitchens across the country, it's pre-ground pepper. Why? A fresh grind releases natural aromas and flavors in the moment (which is why old-school waiters will still visit your table with a big pepper mill, offering fresh-ground pepper with a flourish). The pre-ground stuff is almost always going to be less spicy and less flavorful.

Not only are we big supporters of freshly ground pepper (and salts, because, why not?), but we're also big supporters of the iconic French-based brand Peugeot — and this set in particular.
