Microsoft Altering Its Shady Windows 10 Forced Upgrade System

by Patrick Klepek
Dsider

There's no reason for me not to decline, because I can get 10 for free at any time as it is.

It’s telling that most of my stories about Windows 10, a genuinely decent operating system, have been about how crappy Microsoft has made the upgrade experience. Microsoft seems to be getting the hint, though.

Do you like Evangelion? Do you like working out? Do you live in Japan? If you answered yes to all these questions, I’m pretty sure you still won’t want these utterly ridiculous, yet totally real Evangelion-branded dumbbells.

This Zootopia Deleted Scene Took Things in a Really Dark Direction

by Germain Lussier
Dsider

Oh this is that thing that Al was talking about. Yeah, I'd actually be curious in watching a darker story like this, but would neither expect nor want something like it from Disney of all places.

Before it was the billion dollar hit it ended up being, Zootopia was a very different movie. Nick was the main character , not Judy, and there was a much darker take on the distinction between predator and prey. You see a great example of that in this deleted scene.

I sure can't wait to have 12-year olds screaming slurs at me while telling me how I should be playing Zelda.

Cyberpunk Bartending Game Mixes Waifus With Great Storytelling

by Cecilia D'Anastasio

Bartending for a delinquent cast of sci-fi characters, it turns out, is the ideal way to world-build a dystopian visual novel/game. VA-11 Hall-A, released yesterday on Steam, offers players the chance to serve up noxious drinks to the sketchy citizens of Glitch City, circa 207X A.D., the kind of place that would star as the background for a sci-fi blockbuster. The game is a must-buy for fans of interactive fiction, stylized retro games, cyberpunk and girls with cat ears–just about everybody, right?

The Last Guardian's Designer Explains How He Stayed Motivated For Nine Years

by Patrick Klepek

"When Shadow of the Colossus was released, I initially thought that the important relationships in the game were the man, the woman, and the colossi. But many players actually were strongly involved with the horse; they felt that relationship was a very powerful relationship in the game. "

I know what he actually means, but that does not sound right without context

It’s been nearly 10 years since development started on The Last Guardian, designer Fumito Ueda’s long-anticipated follow-up to Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. I caught up with Ueda at E3 to talk about his lengthy journey.
