Pokémon Go Streamer Mugged Live On Twitch [UPDATE]

by Cecilia D'Anastasio
Dsider

Fine, I feel a little sorry for him, but I still think anyone doing this shit in NYC of all places is a fucking idiot. We don't live in the kind of place where this would ever be a smart idea.

Last night, a mugger allegedly assaulted and robbed blogger Rickey Yaneza while he was streaming Pokémon Go in Central Park. Consequently, live footage of the attack streamed on his Twitch channel, which is currently suspended.

HOLY SHIT PLEASE

Most role-playing games let you customize some aspect of your character. Their hair, or outfit, or voice, that kind of thing. Divinity: Original Sin 2, which hits Steam early access today, lets you go one further and customize your hero’s theme music.

Isaac Hayes' Son Says Someone Else Made His Dad Quit South Park

by Jason Schreier

Back in 2006, singer and actor Isaac Hayes abruptly quit South Park, where he had voiced the character Chef for a decade. Hayes, an active Scientologist, was apparently upset about the episode “Trapped In The Closet,” which makes fun of the cultish religion he followed. But it sounds like his departure wasn’t entirely up to him.

Dungeons & Dragons’ ranger class received a buff yesterday.

by Cecilia D'Anastasio
Dsider

Does this mean if we ever get to play again that Kate's wolf won't be more powerful than her anymore?

Dungeons & Dragons’ ranger class received a buff yesterday. For over a year, players have expressed dissatisfaction with rangers’ high-level play, inspiring publisher Wizards of the Coast to revise the class’s features. “Favored enemy” and terrain navigation are now more effective. Here are all of the changes, which WoTC stresses are “draft” changes and not meant for Organized Play events.

Maybe This Is Why Dragon Quest Never Took Off In The West

Sega Takes Shot At Nintendo, Encourages Fans To Keep Making Sonic Stuff

by Heather Alexandra

The obvious joke here is that Sega can't make good Sonic stuff, so of course they'll let others try. But regardless, I appreciate the gesture.

It’s been a pretty good time for fan games. We’ve had a full scale remake of Metroid 2 and an amazing tribute to Sonic the Hedgehog . Only one of these games has been taken down by corporate forces. Last week, the Game Grumps played Green Hill Paradise Act 2. Sega noticed. And gave a big thumbs up.

The Smash Community Is Brawling Over A Non-Existent 'VIP Room'

by Cecilia D'Anastasio

“You know why I’m here,” Kenneth Bradley, a ranked Street Fighter IV player with Evil Geniuses, yelled into a camera last week. It was to talk about the latest Super Smash Bros. controversy, something that has affected the fighting game community at large. Bradley took issue with certain competitive Super Smash Bros. players who say they want so-called “VIP rooms” at tournaments to warm up in peace. At one recent Smash tournament, competitive players warmed up in what many called a “VIP room,” although organizers say it was nothing of the sort.
