Why Rika Is The Best Character In Digimon

by Doc Burford
Dsider

LIKE I'VE BEEN SAYING

By the time Digimon Tamers aired, I was growing out of cartoons, or so I thought. Tamers was an impressive feat for an after-school cartoon, a surprisingly mature, more grounded take on the Digimon series, and that’s thanks in a large part to the show’s best character: Rika Nonaka.

League Of Legends' Free "Art Book" Is Incredible

by Luke Plunkett

It’s usually the case that if you’re a fan of a video game and want to check out its concept art, you either look at some images online or you pay a lot of money for a big fancy book . League of Legends is trying to combine the two, releasing what amounts to a big fancy art book, only as a website, and it’s 100% free.

Why Half-Life 2 Doesn't Live Up To Its Predecessor

by Doc Burford
Dsider

I was waiting for something like this to read. Every time I've tried to get into HL2 I've fallen off, because I just didn't feel compelled. And to people who defend it simply on its merits as a shootmans... that's great and I respect that, but the problem is I'm not into shootmans. A good enough narrative can keep me invested with mediocre-to-great gameplay, but I never really found it in here.

You’re probably wondering what’s taking Valve, a company with nigh-infinite resources, forever to make Half-Life 2: Episode 3. Or you’ve given up on that and you believe it’s going to be called Half-Life 3. The sad truth is that we will never see another Half-Life game from Valve, and for one very good reason: its most important character is dead.

Russian Blogger Charged With 'Inciting Hatred' After Playing Pokémon Go in Church

by Hudson Hongo on Gizmodo, shared by Luke Plunkett to Kotaku
Dsider

You do realize that even without that draconian and unjust law, it's extremely disrespectful to mess around on a smartphone in a place of worship in the first place, right? You fucking idiot.

On Saturday, Russian officials announced that atheist vlogger Ruslan Sokolovsky has been detained for two months for “inciting hatred” and “insulting religious feelings” after posting a video of himself playing Pokémon Go inside a historic cathedral. He reportedly faces up to five years in jail if convicted.

Ever, Jane Will Bring Jane Austen's Wit To An MMORPG

by Cecilia D'Anastasio

what

Talking—and talking well—is the weapon of choice in the MMO Ever, Jane. In its open beta, the Jane Austen-themed game, not to be released for another year, brought me back to a time when graphics, game mechanics and avatar customization were secondary to how well virtual-world residents could write.

Why Final Fantasy XV Was Recently Delayed

by Brian Ashcraft
Dsider

The important part is at the end: "there actually might be players who do not download a day-one patch. The delay is to get the game in good shape for all players at release."

Not relying on day-one patches! In 2016! That deserves some applause, Squenix.

Final Fantasy XV was delayed earlier this month. It will now be released in late November. (Fingers crossed!) If you were wondering why, director Hajime Tabata recently shed some light on the situation.

Elizabeth Báthory, Gawain, And Lu Bu Get Gameplay Trailers For Fate/Extella

by Sato
Dsider

Elizabeth's specials look cool but her normal attacks look especially boring. I still really don't like her design.

Something about Gawain's style comes off as overly plain too. Both him and Elizabeth suffer the full brunt of Wada-face, just bland and weird looking.

Lu Bu's video is blocked for whatever fucking reason.

Following the trailers for Mumei, Karna, and Gilgamesh, Marvelous released three new character trailers for their Musou-style action game, Fate/Extella, with videos for Elizabeth, Gawain, and Lu Bu.

Russian Subway Dogs is a game about, er, Russian subway dogs. The game is a cartoony, action-based take on a real phenomenon. Stray dogs have figured out how to navigate the subway system in search of food and, perhaps on some level, a home. The game is currently on Kickstarter, and it’s set to release next year.
