I long to experience these feelings a second time. Next year dammit.

Building a gaming PC can be time-consuming and stressful. There are a thousand things that could go wrong, and any one of them could wind up costing hundreds of dollars. And yet we do it anyway. Why? Because building PCs is totally awesome.

With so many Sabers flying around, GSC's feels like an Extra

by Scarecroodle
Dsider

Hey this guy sounds like he actually knows what he's talking about! And man, that stupid translucent skirt in front will always bother me. Ignoring of course the artist's style in the first place.

Kahotan has released a preview gallery for Good Smile Company's upcoming 1/7-scale Saber Extra (Fate/Extra). Pre-orders are expected to open on July 17.

While I was at least a little interested when we first saw an unpainted prototype during Miyazawa Model Exhibition Spring 2014 earlier this year, I have to confess that the painted version strikes me as... well, boring. It's not a bad design, but after seeing Kotobukiya's pretty good rendition of the character (except for what one reader called a "Gumby arm") just a few months ago and Gift's excellent version a few years before that, GSC's take seems to fall a little flat.

GSC's Saber Extra sports an almost stoic expression that I associate more with her mainstream counterpart (Arturia, Fate/Stay Night). The pose isn't bad in and of itself, but if you look closely at her legs you might think that the character is stumbling. The upper torso screams, "Action!", while the lower section shouts, "Poor balance!"

If you look at the parts rather than the sum, GSC's Saber Extra is a decently sculpted, well-painted figure. It may not be overly exciting, but it was completely done. That's not to say that the figure in its entirety is bad, mind you, but something feels off. Perhaps it's her balance. I suppose we should be happy that she doesn't have Gumby arm.

Look for pre-orders to open shortly.

Let's take a moment to note that despite Marvel's showboating over this, they've given her the oft-loathed impractical style of breastplate that people usually call out. They might want to rethink that design. I like the helmet at the very least.

For reasons we can't really grasp, Marvel decided to announce their new character on The View. And here SHE is in her thunderous glory.

I call bullshit on MK64 being below DS, but at least they recognize Double Dash as the top game. The comment below also calls it right: The MK64 Rainbow Road, and its remix in MK8 (the only track I actually liked) are the best iterations of it.

PR Stunt Involves a "Thousand" Women Installing a PC Game

WHY Tera, WHY. You don't have to market yourself like this. I could go on the longest rant ever about how horribly they've squandered the potential of a game with the system it has going for it, in every region it's been released in, but I think you guys have pretty much heard it over bits and pieces already.

Honestly, if some random attractive asian woman I didn't know showed up to enter my room and use my computer, I would be terrified beyond all measure. I probably wouldn't even let them in.

With Some Work, Freedom Wars Could Be The Vita's Next Big Game

by Toshi Nakamura
Dsider

It's interesting to see a game where placing arbitrary restrictions on gameplay is more *logically* tied to its setting. It's also funny to think of this game as the result of taking the joke about being imprisoned by MMOs to the next level. In any case, I am really crossing my fingers that this distinguishes itself from the other Monster Hunter clones enough. It looks just as cool as it did when I first saw the reveal way back.

With Some Work, Freedom Wars Could Be The Vita's Next Big Game

In Freedom Wars, you are a prisoner living in a dystopian future where simply existing is a crime worth a million-year sentence . The game is basically another mission-based multiplayer hunting game, a la Monster Hunter, but it's got enough originality going for it that it still managed to catch my heart despite some issues.

Mazes Are Getting Pretty Highbrow

It was only two years ago that the Museum of Modern Art put its seal of approval on Pac-Man by adding the game to its permanent collection . Many saw this as a pivotal moment for video games; one of the most prestigious museums in the world was adding a little yellow blob's maze-lurking, ghost-eating adventures to the pantheon of fine art.
