This is the guy from the BEASTIE BOYS and HE lives like THIS?
fucking unreal

Mike D's Brooklyn Townhouse

Beastie Boys founding member Mike Diamond (Mike D) recently gave The New York Times an inside look at the Brooklyn townhouse he shares with his wife Tamra Davis and their two sons. The couple moved to the three-story townhouse a year and a half ago after an extensive six month renovation. The first floor includes a work-at-home space, the second floor is the domain of their sons, and the top floor was converted into a master suite. For more photos of the house, see this New York Times gallery.

Mattress Fitted to Woman’s Body Shape

by Ian
Bartice

I would like to try this

It is true that when I’m sunbathing on the beach, I already had for habit to mold the sand in the shape of my body and I have the feeling that I am not the only one. Michael C Riley have launched a new project on Kickstarter for women who have prominent breasts and who are having problems to sleep on their stomach. The ComfyBreasts Relaxation System is a giant pillow cover with hollowed out section so you breast can feel out of pressure. This may seem a little strange, considering that a mattress should adapt to all that would exceed your corpd, nose, breasts, penis, buttocks, but this is probably an invention that will satisfy more than one.

Fountain in Spain Uses Water to Mimic Form of Traditional Sailboat

by EDW Lynch

Water Boat Fountain

“Fuente del Barco de Agua” (“Water Boat Fountain”) is a sculptural fountain in Valencia, Spain that uses streams of water to mimic the form of a traditional sailboat. There’s no information on the artist behind the design, but My Modern Metropolis reports that similar sculptures exist in Israel and Portugal.

Grumpy Cat Is an Evil Genius

If you have a son you probably know…

by Jonco

1) A king size waterbed holds enough water to fill a 2000 sq. ft. house 4 inches deep.
2) If you spray hair spray on dust bunnies and run over them with roller blades, they can ignite.
3) A 3-year old Boy’s voice is louder than 200 adults in a crowded restaurant.
4) If you hook a dog leash over a ceiling fan, the motor is not strong enough to rotate 42-pound Boy wearing Batman underwear and a Superman cape. It is strong enough, however, if tied to a paint can, to spread paint on all four walls of a 20×20 ft. room.
5) You should not throw baseballs up when the ceiling fan is on. When using a ceiling fan as a bat, you have to throw the ball up a few times before you get a hit. A ceiling fan can hit a baseball a long way.
6) The glass in windows (even double-pane) doesn’t stop a baseball hit by a ceiling fan.
7) When you hear the toilet flush and the words “uh oh”, it’s already too late.
8) Brake fluid mixed with Clorox makes smoke, and lots of it.
9) A six-year old Boy can start a fire with a flint rock even though a 36-year old man says they can only do it in the movies.
10) Certain Lego will pass through the digestive tract of a 4-year old Boy.
11) Play dough and microwave should not be used in the same sentence.
12) Super glue is forever.
13) No matter how much jelly you put in a swimming pool you still can’t walk on water.
14) Pool filters do not like jelly.
15) VCR’s do not eject peanut butter & jelly sandwiches even though TV ads show they do.
16) Garbage bags do not make good parachutes.
17) Marbles in gas tanks make lots of noise when driving.
18) You probably DO NOT want to know what that odor is.
19) Always look in the oven before you turn it on; plastic toys do not like ovens.
20) The fire department has a 5-minute response time.
21) The spin cycle on the washing machine does not make earthworms dizzy.
22) It will, however, make cats dizzy.
23) Cats throw up twice their body weight when dizzy.
24) 80% of Men who read this will try mixing the Clorox and brake fluid.

Roku's second gen players can get their grid menu update now

by Richard Lawler

Second generation Roku players can update to the new grid menus manually

We dug the grid-style menu system that came along with the Roku 3, and now owners of some of the company's older players can experience it as well. The Roku 2 boxes, Roku LT, newer Roku HD and Streaming Stick are all eligible to download the new update, although it's not coming to the company's first generation boxes. It's been rolling out to limited numbers of users all month for testing, but tonight the company announced anyone can get it by prompting their box to manually update. All it takes is checking the update section under settings, otherwise it will be downloaded automatically at some point in the next few weeks.

My Brother, My Mother, And A Call Girl

by The Awl

My brother Danny lost his virginity at age 25. To a call girl named Monique. Hired by our mother.

My mother didn’t bother asking Danny for his permission before engaging Monique’s services. She didn’t ask my father to condone the transaction. Nor was she troubled by social mores or laws against solicitation. She deserves a Mother of the Year Award.

There was a reason for my mother's taboo-busting parenting. Danny was born with a rare, incurable genetic disease that affects the development and function of the nervous system. The typical lifespan for children born with Familial Dysautonomia was then about five years. My mother rolled up her sleeves, strapped on her stilettos, and ignored the statistic. A parent now myself, I wonder if I have half my mother’s grit and grace.

YouTube launches pilot program for paid subscriptions, channels start at $0.99 per month

by Donald Melanson

YouTube launches pilot program for paid subscriptions, channels start at $099 per month

We've had a pretty clear indication that it was coming, and YouTube has now gotten official with one of the biggest changes to the way it does business to date. It's today kicking off a pilot program for paid subscriptions, which initially consists of a small group of partners offering channels that start at $0.99 per month. Those will include channels ranging from Sesame Street to the UFC (just over 50 in all at the moment), each of which include a 14-day free trial, and some of which come at a discounted rate if you pay by the year instead of per-month.

YouTube's promising to roll things out more broadly in the coming weeks, with qualifying partners able to take advantage of the option as a self-service feature and others invited to sign up if they're interested in going the paid route. Naturally, you'll be able to view channels on the usual range of devices once you subscribe, but you will have to do the actual subscribing on a computer for now (subscribing on others devices is promised to be coming soon). The company's also quick to point out that it's still early days for the service, noting that it'll have more to say as it gets feedback from users and content partners.

Analysts Believe Amazon Will Start Raising Its Prices

Amazon's lack of profits in 2012 are mostly a result of the company's hefty investments and overall thin profit margins. And while no experts blame customers for not buying enough, it very well may be Amazon shoppers who will pay the price to make up for lost revenue.

Textastrophe

Textastrophe is a Tumblr blog that collects humorous conversations with people who have posted their phone numbers in public, often on Craigslist. The blog’s owner contacts the individuals and trolls them with ironic or downright weird situations and requests.

Next time you post your phone number in a public place, think again. This is a collection of text messages I’ve exchanged with people who have done just that.
