The Trailer for Tom Holland’s ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Is Here – WATCH

by Sean Mandell
Daniel Whitehill

This could be good. I like the way it ties into the Marvel Universe.

tom holland spiderman

The first trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming, the latest Spider-Man reboot attempt starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker, was released late Thursday night.

This latest Spidey iteration focuses on Parker’s relationship with Tony Stark (I’m sensing a Batman and Robin dynamic).

screen-shot-2016-12-09-at-9-07-54-am

Parker wants to join The Avengers and fight the baddies while Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is trying to get Parker to pull back and let the adults handle things.

The LA Times reports:

Also in the first-ever footage to premiere (unveiled on “Jimmy Kimmel Live”) is the villain, the Vulture, who will be played by former superhero actor Michael Keaton. Not seen but already cast (as she made a cameo in Marvel’s recent “Civil War” feature) is Marisa Tomeias the much younger Aunt May.

As for the plot, this looks like standard Spider-Man high school troubles, with plenty of Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr. twists. Fingers crossed for this one.

The trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming also includes an homage to Tobey Maguire’s famous shirtless scene in his Spider-Man film.

Paranormal Organization Claims Gay Men are Possessed by Female Ghosts

by Sean Mandell
Daniel Whitehill

I love this! It's crazy, yet spooky fun!

gay ghosts

According to a paranormal organization 85% of all gay men aren’t really gay, they’re just possessed by female ghosts that cause them to have attractions towards men.

The Spiritual Science Research Foundation (SRF), which has 12,000 followers on Twitter, claims, “The main reason behind the gay orientation of some men is that they are possessed by female ghosts. It is the female ghost in them that is attracted to other men.”

As you might imagine, they believe that lesbians are possessed by male ghost.

“The ghost’s consciousness overpowers the person’s normal behaviour to produce the homosexual attraction,” the group writes on their website. They cite “Spiritual research” as proving that “the cause for homosexual preferences lie predominantly in the spiritual realm.”

According to the SRF, only 5% of gay people are gay due to “hormonal changes.” Ten percent are considered gay because they had “an experience with a person of the same sex as a teenager or young adult that was pleasurable and therefore wanting to experience it again.” However, the vast majority of gay people, 85%, exhibit same-sex attraction because of ghosts, they say.

causes-of-homosexuality

SRF also says that gay pride parades are evidence of the “decline” of humankind:

Organizing such Parades in the name of human rights and freedom does not indicate that society is progressing. In fact, this evidences its decline. The human race needs to know what is right and what is wrong. Just as we teach children not to play in dirty water or eat mud, we need to educate society what is correct from a spiritual perspective. By failing to do so, we run the risk of a further decline in Righteousness and consequently people in society will become more unhappy.

The good news, SRF says, is that “Homosexuality can be overcome by regular spiritual practice.” SRF offers “some simple steps” to rid you of your homosexuality.

What might those steps be? Thankfully, SRF spells them out.

Check them out, below.

State of Decay 2's World Is "Substantially Larger," Lets Co-Op Players Split Up

Daniel Whitehill

Matt and Brendan I am forcing you to play this! Can't WAIT!

State of Decay 2 will present players with a much larger world than that of the first game, according to developer Undead Labs.

Undead CEO Jeff Strain told IGN that the studio is aware of players' desire for a bigger world, though he wouldn't confirm any specifics about the size of this one. "I know SoD fans are hungry for details on number and size of maps, regions, kilometers of playable area, etc, but we're not quite ready for that. For now, suffice it to say that the playable area is substantially larger than State of Decay," he said.

State of Decay 2 was announced back at this year's E3 in June (watch the announcement trailer above). It's a four-player co-op game, rather than the MMO Undead had discussed previously. Strain said you'll have the freedom to separate from each other, though that may or may not necessarily be the wisest choice, depending on the situation you find yourself in.

"There may be times when it's tactically advantageous to do so," he explained. "For example, you may be under the gun to get medical supplies back to your base, and you decide to split up and have two players scavenge the supermarket pharmacy while two others go scout for a car or SUV with a large amount of trunk space to get the goods home. Or you could even be working on completely separate objectives and only come together as needed to get each other out of a tight spot. Ultimately, you'll be more effective (and, if we do our jobs well, you'll have a lot more fun) playing close together, but as always with State of Decay, your play style is up to you."

No Caption Provided
Gallery image 1Gallery image 2Gallery image 3

Design director Richard Foge added that you can't turn State of Decay 2 into a direct PvP game where players fight each other. However, he noted there are "plenty of ways that they can be a hostile force in your world because they can directly affect the simulation in meaningful ways." These include attracting zombies or otherwise doing something to get a player's character killed, or killing an NPC that causes their enclave to become hostile toward your community.

State of Decay 2 doesn't yet have an exact release date but is expected out in 2017. It's coming to PC and Xbox One; it'll be a Play Anywhere game, letting those who buy it digitally play on both platforms.

‘Walking Dead’ Star Tom Payne Says His ‘Jesus’ Character is Gay

by Andy Towle
Daniel Whitehill

That's cool.

and "but he’ll make it with a dude every now and then… before going out and drop kicking zombies." That's AWESOME.

Tom Payne Jesus

Tom Payne, who plays Paul “Jesus” Rovia on The Walking Dead, sat down with the Huffington Post to talk about the show and his character’s sexual orientation, confirming that his character, true to creator Robert Kirkman’s wishes, is gay.

Said Kirkman in a Reddit Q&A in 2014:

“In my opinion there should be more awesome gay people in fiction because there are plenty of awesome gay people in real life. I want Jesus to be a character where his sexuality is as unimportant as Rick or other heterosexual characters. So we won’t focus on it constantly and it won’t be the focus of any big storylines for him… but he’ll make it with a dude every now and then… before going out and drop kicking zombies. He’s one of my current favorite characters.”

Payne tells HuffPost that though it hasn’t been addressed on the show, he’s keeping it real:

Payne explained his thoughts on his character’s sexuality.

When asked about the possibility of seeing that element of Jesus on screen, Payne said, “I think that would be amazing.”

The actor recalled Kirkman’s former comments on the character, saying, “Yeah, who cares? He’s a badass and he happens to be gay.”

“I think that’s one of the strongest things about Robert [Kirkman] and how he writes the comic books,” said Payne, continuing, “Why wouldn’t he be? And I see no reason why that would be different in the show.”

Final Fantasy 15 Review

Daniel Whitehill

Huh. Reviews are pretty good. Matt, you'll have to let us know what you think.

The best Final Fantasy games are often regarded for their layered characters and stories, but that will not be Final Fantasy XV's legacy. Save for a few minor arcs and some impressive cutscenes, the story of the deposed Prince Noctis and his three bodyguards ultimately leaves little room for its stars to evolve and earn your affection. But finishing Final Fantasy XV's story prepares you for difficult trials tucked away in Eos, the game's imposing and bountiful open world. Its best quests and treasures extend well beyond the needs of Noctis' fight, and it's these pursuits that make you appreciate your brothers in arms, and Final Fantasy XV in the long run.

We first meet Noctis and his crew en route to the prince's wedding; a political marriage to his childhood friend designed to unite their families' opposing nations. Shortly afterwards, Noctis receives news that his fiance's father ordered an invasion of Noctis's home city, killing his father--King Regis--and claiming stewardship of a powerful crystal. In an effort to retake the throne and restore balance to the world, Noctis must locate ancestral weapons scattered in lost tombs across Eos, battle hundreds of monsters, and go toe-to-toe with powerful gods.

Eos' best quests and treasures extend well beyond the needs of Noctis' fight, and it's these pursuits that make you appreciate your brothers-in-arms, and Final Fantasy XV in the long run.

But this is a fantasy anchored by more mundane, real-world elements; Noctis and company sleep in motels, eat at roadside diners, and gossip with down-to-earth cooks between missions. Among the relatable working-class people that populate most of Eos, your party sticks out like a sore thumb. They ride in an ostentatious convertible, their hyper-fashionable clothes and hair flapping in the wind. Other stylish elites make an appearance during cutscenes, of course, but your meetings with commoners far outnumber your royal rendezvous--there are at least 80 side quests, and only 14 story chapters. For the vast majority of the game, there's a very real disconnect between your party and the outside world that's never thoroughly addressed.

Unlike many of its predecessors, Final Fantasy XV embraces contemporary open-world game principles from the start: outside of story missions, you are free to explore sprawling environments and take on dozens of side quests at your leisure. Townsfolk, seemingly unaware of your princely status, will employ you in a number of tasks including infrastructure maintenance, scientific field work, gem hunting, and light farming. Dedicating your time to rewarding pursuits has a side effect: the more comfortable you become living in Eos doing honest work, the further away and less important Noctis' concerns feel. It doesn't help that most NPCs would rather talk about their magazine publishing business or recipes than important world affairs.

And as far as your bodyguards are concerned: they're content cruising around Eos in their fancy car, cracking jokes and taking selfies. With Noctis' crew--Gladiolus the muscle, Ignis the brains, and Prompto the comic relief--what you see is what you get. Each character is treated to time in the spotlight during specific story missions, but these events, which seem major in the moment, have little long-term impact. Your friends make for upbeat travel companions, offering tons of colorful banter during your travels, but it's disappointing to see supporting characters--a group that typically has diverse backgrounds and curious personalities in Final Fantasy games--relegated to cliched, unbending roles.

It's disappointing to see supporting characters--a group that typically has diverse backgrounds and curious personalities in Final Fantasy games--relegated to cliched, unbending roles.

During the first half of the story, missions are designed to familiarize you with the ebb and flow of the open world; how to make money, where to spend it, and how to recover after a hard day's work. More importantly, you learn how to fight. There's a lot to manage in combat--despite only having direct control over Noctis as opposed to your entire party--which makes for a satisfying juggling act once you understand the game's demanding pace and the extent of your abilities. Though you can pause the action to re-equip characters and use items mid-battle, combat is otherwise a non-stop, fluid process and very different from previous Final Fantasy systems. Unlike Final Fantasy XII which allows you to dictate the behavior of your companions, you have to rely on AI to ensure your allies have your back in Final Fantasy XV. The only time you can issue direct commands is when they deal enough damage and fill up a meter, and you call upon the one ability you assigned to them.

By holding down a button, Noctis will deliver a combo attack until he's interrupted by an enemy. If you're quick, you can press another button to phase through an incoming attack and continue your assault. Noctis can also warp-attack from great distances, swap between four weapons--mid-combo if need be--, cast magic, and on rare occasions, summon god-like Astrals onto the battlefield to mop up enemies.

Astrals are powerful beings that align with Noctis throughout the story, to be summoned later in a time of need. They offer some of the most impressive moments in the game--typical of Final Fantasy "summons"--towering high above battles while unleashing incredible displays of power. But much like distant friends, you only see Astrals when it works for their schedule. Each of the four Astrals you acquire call for very specific battle conditions, but even if all criteria are met--being dangerously low on health in the vicinity of water, in one case--there's no guarantee an Astral will actually appear. Where you could always count on summons to save the day in previous Final Fantasy games, it's disheartening that they usually fail to appear during Final Fantasy XV's most difficult battles.

There's a lot to manage in combat, which makes for a satisfying juggling act once you understand the game's demanding pace and the extent of your abilities.

More often than not, you can at least rely on magic to hammer tough enemies when Astrals are out of reach. Spells can be crafted by bottling ice, fire, and lightning harvested from elemental springs in dungeons and the overworld, and you can also combine these elements with items for increased potency and extra status effects, the tradeoff being that you're sacrificing valuable commodities in the process--spells are consumables, not permanent abilities. It's important to pay attention to what you cast, but also where you cast it, as your party can suffer frostbite, burns, and shock if they are standing too close to the point of impact. While this sounds bad, it adds an appreciable layer of strategy to combat that makes you weigh the risks and benefits of taking the easy way out.

As you earn experience and level up, your party accrues ability points that can be spent within the Ascension Grid menu to upgrade things like AI behaviors in battle, or bolster Noctis' suite of skills. You can also unlock passive abilities that help you earn money and experience points faster as you explore the open world. But all told, AP is in short supply and the Ascension Grid is fractured into many categories, making it difficult to decide where to focus your efforts.

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2Gallery image 3Gallery image 4Gallery image 5Gallery image 6Gallery image 7Gallery image 8Gallery image 9Gallery image 10

Ultimately, accessories do the heavy lifting when it comes to character customization. They typically increase characters' stats, but may also offer protection from status ailments and influence your companions' behaviors. On the other hand, most weapons you acquire are less exciting and varied, and you may be shocked and disappointed when you discover that each merchant only carries one or two for the entirety of the game.

And don't be fooled by the "attire" menu; no one sells clothing in the game, meaning you're stuck with your initial set--two per character, or four, if you count optional jackets--until you unlock a third outfit at the end. It seems odd that there are so few clothing options, not only because there's an inventory screen dedicated to them, but because the few outfits you can wear come with small but noticeable effects on your party's attributes. They clearly serve a greater purpose, but are largely treated like an afterthought.

You can more than double the amount of time it takes to finish the story and still have plenty of worthwhile adventures calling for your attention.

By the time you tackle the second half of Final Fantasy XV's story missions, you'll be surprised how fast the remaining chapters go by. These are linear quests, some shorter than an hour. You can always explore the world at your leisure, but these tightly choreographed dungeon runs and action set-pieces move fast and draw you in with spectacular cutscenes.

Presuming you let it pull you along, with minimal side tracking, it's possible to finish Final Fantasy XV's story in about 30 hours. This is short by Final Fantasy standards, but after the credits roll, the real fun is just getting started. Final Fantasy XV's endgame content is some of the best in the entire game. Unreasonably large monsters, legendary weapons, and mysterious high-level dungeons lie in wait if you choose to continue playing. You can more than double the amount of time it takes to finish the story and still have plenty of worthwhile adventures calling for your attention.

Over 60 hours into my quest, I recently discovered strange locked doors unlike anything else I've seen up until this point, nested within the inner sanctums of high-level dungeons. I have no idea how to open them, but my party's amazement--as well as my own--is enough to make me want to pore over Eos and find a way. I'm also in the middle of a questline that promises to reward me with the most powerful weapons in the game, but only if I can take down powerful creatures that almost the Astrals' impressive scale. When Final Fantasy XV eventually runs its course, these are the moments I will remember most.

One of the first things you see when you boot up the game is this claim "A Final Fantasy for fans and first-timers." It's a strange statement; fans can't agree on what makes a good Final Fantasy game, and who knows why newcomers shied away from the series in the past. It's been a long ten years since Final Fantasy XV was first revealed, and tastes have changed in the meantime. While it's safe to assume fans and outsiders will find some aspect of Final Fantasy XV disappointing--be it the shallow story or finnicky Astrals--it would be hard for anyone to deny that Final Fantasy XV is a fascinating game after giving it a chance. Where its characters fail to impress, Final Fantasy XV's beautiful world and exciting challenges save the day.

Power Rangers Movie Images Show Off Rita Repulsa's New Look

Lionsgate has shared some new images of Rita Repulsa from next year's Power Rangers movie. The images, released today on Twitter as part of a "Rita Repulsa takeover" event, showcase the villain played by Hunger Games star Elizabeth Banks. Take a look at the images below.

Lionsgate released the first images of Repulsa in April this year. As you can see, the villainous character looks very different than what we saw on the '90s TV show.

The first trailer for Power Rangers was released in October, and it suggests that the film is going for a more serious tone than the series may be known for.

Power Rangers opens in theaters on March 24, 2017, directed by Dean Israelite (Project Almanac). It stars Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, RJ Cyler, Becky G, Ludi Lin, and Bryan Cranston.

Power Rangers first appeared on screens in 1993's Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. The show mixed new American scenes with footage taken from the Japanese show Super Sentai. To date there have been 23 TV series and two earlier movies.

A new Power Rangers game, Power Rangers: Mega Battle, is slated to come out in January 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

News That’ll Make Your Chonies Rip Right Off: New Kids, Paula Abdul And Boyz II Men Are Going On Tour Together

by Michael K
Daniel Whitehill

Darius! We have to go. Don't forget me when you buy tickets because I KNOW YOU WILL.

nkotbtour2016

Us old whores better double up on our blood pressure medication, because this news may cause a vessel to burst.

Eight years ago, grown women and gays screamed chunks of their lungs out when New Kids on the Block announced that they were reuniting and going on tour. They’ve been touring ever since and because they still have mortgages to pay off, they’re doing another giant summer tour and this time they’re bringing Paula Abdul and Boyz II Men with them. My little gay self who stood in line at a damn Wherehouse Music to get Paula Abdul concert tickets and then got shut out is commanding my grown gay self to hit the X on this browser tab and immediately go on over to Ticketmaster dot fucking com.

They’re calling the tour the “Total Package” tour and it’ll be Paula’s first in 25 years. Old Daddies On The Block, Paula Abdul and Daddiez II Pepawz made the announcement on Today this morning. They’re starting on May 12, 2017 in Columbus, OH and will hit over 40 cities before ending on July 15, 2017 in Tampa, FL. That’s a lot of shows. They better get Centrum Silver as a sponsor. All of the dates are here.

Donnie Wahlberg released this statement about the tour that will make oldies burst from the 90s nostalgia of it all.

“Our fans know we love to bring them a party, and this tour is no exception. It’s not just a show, it’s an experience. Paula Abdul is such a pop icon and Boyz II Men are one of the best R&B acts of all time. It’s going to be a night of hit after hit, and we can’t wait to deliver the ‘Total Package’ to our fans!”

The “Total Package” tour sounds like the name for a speaking tour starring The Hammaconda and I’d rather see that, but I’ll take this too. If I can, I’ll be at one of those shows in British Knights, a B.U.M. Equipment shirt and pegged Guess jeans. I hope every date sells out, but if that doesn’t happen and the tour gets canceled, I hope they have cameras on Paula Abdul when she finds out so that we can get a sequel to her trying to tell a goddamn story.

The Bratz movie flopped hard, so it turns out that God is a mega Paula Abdul stan after all!

Outgoing CA Senator Barbara Boxer Introduces Bill to Abolish the Electoral College

by Sean Mandell
Daniel Whitehill

It'll never pass, but it's an awesome way to go out!

barbara_boxer_2005Outgoing California Senator Barbara Boxer has introduced a bill into congress that would abolish the electoral college.

Many Democrats have urged that the Electoral College be abandoned following Hillary Clinton’s general election loss to Donald Trump.

Former Democratic nominee Michael Dukakis is among those who have voiced support for ending what has been termed by some as an arcane election system.

The LA Times reports:

Such legislation makes a statement after an election that shocked Democrats, but is unlikely to gain traction with Republicans holding control of both chambers of Congress in a lame duck session.

Her bill calls for an amendment to the Constitution that would end the Electoral College system. Should such a thing pass, the amendment would only take effect if ratified by three-fourths of the states within seven years after its passage in the U.S. Congress.

Clinton leads President-elect Donald Trump by nearly 800,000 votes nationally with a final count still pending, but Trump won the most electors in the electoral college system that is how the country actually picks it’s president.

Said Boxer in a statement,

“In my lifetime, I have seen two elections where the winner of the general election did not win the popular vote. The Electoral College is an outdated, undemocratic system that does not reflect our modern society, and it needs to change immediately. Every American should be guaranteed that their vote counts.”

Here’s a video of “The World’s Hottest Math Teacher,” Pietro Boselli, taking his shirt on and off as many times as he can, within one minute. This is the kind of learning that would have made me WAY more enamored of education if I had been taught in this fashion. Seriously, I would have probably been able to pass Algebra II if this dude was up at the dry-erase board.

There is one obvious flaw in his lesson plan, though. Why stop at the t-shirt? It would be FAR more challenging if he had repeatedly taken off his pants, too. You need to be in it to win it, Pietro. I’ll wait while you fix your mistake and record a second version.
