This Tubular Glass House Wraps Around a Single Tree

If you've always wanted to be at one with nature but couldn't let go of the creature comforts of modern life, this house might be perfect for you. Designed by Kazakh architect Aibek Almassov of A. Masow Architects, 'Tree in the House' is a tubular glass house that is built around a single tree, encompassing four floors that spread out the functions of a home vertically, while a winding staircase connects the different levels. "The main purpose of this project is to offer an alternative to the bustle of city life," said the architect. "We wanted to combine the capabilities of modern industrial design and the natural wealth and beauty." While an investor who had initially signed on later pulled out of the project, a glass and solar panel manufacturer has reportedly since expressed interest, putting construction plans for this architectural curio back on track.

Matthew Herbert played an edible DJ set with records made out of cheese, eggplant and ham
Finally something to go with those tortillas.
Last month, Matthew Herbert baffled us once again with his latest creation: a playable tortilla record. Even then, he explained it was part of a larger series of “edible sounds” which he unveiled more of at a DJ set last night.
The laser-etched foodstuffs included cheese, eggplant, ham, onion, and potato, among others and audience members were invited to eat the records after the performance. There was also more to the performance than just sheer novelty.
As The Vinyl Factory points out, the performance was commissioned by Science Gallery London at King’s College as part of FED UP: The Future of Food, a project about contemporary issues around food production, nutrition and waste. Take a look at some of the edible records below.
