For those who don't already know, Frozen is Disney's latest computer animated musical fantasy-comedy film that's loosely inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale The Snow Queen, it is the 53rd animated feature in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series. The film's animators visited an Ice Hotel in Quebec, Canada to study how light reflects and refracts on snow and ice. For the film's setting, the animators used the landscape of Norway and the feel of the winter season of Wyoming for inspiration. Why Jupiter's Red Spot Won't Die
Jupiter’s signature Great Red Spot is sort of the Doctor Who of storms: It just won’t die — even when it has been proven that it must die. And now, for the first time, some fluid dynamicists have finally hit on some of the secrets to the giant storm’s longevity.
“It’s the largest, most enduring storm in the solar system,” said Philip Marcus of University of California, Berkeley, in a presentation at the meeting of the American Physical Society’s fluid dynamics division in Pittsburgh on Monday.
The Red Spot is about 24,000 km across, east to west, 12,000 km from north to south, and a mere 40 km deep. Its winds are roaring around at about 225 miles per hour and this incredible monster has been observed from Earth almost continuously for at least 150 years, he said. But based on all the modeling that’s been done to try to explain the Red Spot, it just isn’t possible. Read more...

Get $50 off any tablet priced $150 or more at Staples today only; 2012 Nexus 7 for $120 from Groupon [DEALS]
‘Tis the season to buy your loved ones some pretty nice tablets. A couple of great deals have gone up this morning that will help you do just that. Let’s get Staples out of the way first, because you’ll only have until the end of business today to take advantage of it.
You can get $50 off any tablet that is priced at $149.99 or more, giving you a pretty decent discount on something like the Nexus 7 2013. The deal is applicable both online and in-store: you’ll need coupon code 18702 for online orders. In-store orders can be redeemed simply by showing the coupon to the clerk (either print it out or show it to them on your mobile device).
Groupon also has a decent deal for those of you who don’t mind buying a year-old tablet. You can get the 2012 Nexus 7 starting at $120 for the 16GB version, or drop $30 more for double the storage. You’ll have until midnight Sunday to take advantage, so you’ll have a bit of time to think about it (though quantities are limited, so you’ll want to think rather fast). Groupon is limiting this to three per person, with the option of buying two more as gifts. Go ahead and give it a long look at their website if you’re interested.
James Franco, Seth Rogen Hysterically Recreate Kanye's 'Bound 2' Video
Move over Kim Kardashian — Seth Rogen just schooled you in topless motorcycle riding
Rogen and BFF James Franco apparently got bored on the set of their new film, The Interview, and decided to spice things up by recreating Kanye West's music video for "Bound 2." (Be warned, however: The video uses the explicit language of West's original recording — it's NSFW.)
West's video features a topless Kardashian (West's fiancée) riding shotgun on his bike while driving through luscious fields, across American vistas and by galloping white horses. Basically, it's a Lisa Frank folder come to life. Rogen and Franco didn't skimp on any of the details, brilliantly mimicking not only the video's background but the lustful expressions of West and Kardashian Read more...

When Disney Animation Studios' Frozen opens on Wednesday, you’ll probably laugh and maybe cry. But it's unlikely you’ll notice the effort that went into making the star of the show — snow — look and act like the real thing.
The tale is about a band of unlikely friends who embark on a quest to save a kingdom, but snow is everywhere in Frozen. One of the main characters is even made of the stuff.
Snow, like any other particle in animation, like rain, fog or leaves, is a complex material. Convincing viewers that it's real on screen is more math than animation magic

Spoiler alert!
Brian, the Griffin family's quick-witted dog on Family Guy, died during the "Life of Brian" episode. As a series regular since the animated show premiered in 1999, Brian and his 12-season stint on Family Guy ended Sunday when a car hit and killed him
His owners — Peter, Lois, Meg, Chris, and Stewie — cried as a blood-soaked Brian took his final breath. Stewie can't reverse the death because he destroyed the time machine he created. The family adopts a new dog, Vinny, to cope with the loss.

Uploading profanity-laced gameplay videos using tools on the Xbox One could cause players to lose some of their Xbox Live access, according to a statement released by Microsoft on Tuesday.
The bans were discovered after Xbox One gamers posted on Xbox Support Forums, complaining that their consoles told them to "play something else." The users said their access to services such as Skype and the Xbox One's Upload Studio, where users can upload gameplay footage with their own audio commentary, were limited.
"The team reviews every clip that is uploaded to the service to help maintain a clean, safe and fun environment for all users," Microsoft told Mashable in an email. Read more...

Cheap Bourbons, Ranked
Each year around mid-August, publicists start burying everyone in the food journalizing racket with ideas for Thanksgiving coverage. Most of their emails concern ways in which a client, usually a lesser television chef or an agricultural marketing board, can enhance your stuffing with this or that upscale mushroom or obscure nutmeat. Over in our soggy corner of the booze-writing ghetto, the pitches tend to feature recipes for gibletinis and butternut squasharitas or threats of cinnamon-sage vodkas and gravy liqueurs.

Three new Nexus 5 commercials highlight popular camera features
Short and sweet, with each one hitting a single feature
Following up on the initial "I Do" commercial that came with the launch of the Nexus 5, Google has just published three more short videos to its YouTube account. The commercials highlight HDR+, Photo Sphere and Auto Awesome, and are each just 15 seconds long, but still get the point across — there are a lot of interesting camera features available on the Nexus 5. The most powerful among them is likely HDR+, which you can see above.
Now of course Photo Sphere is available on more than just the Nexus 5, and Auto Awesome animated pictures can be made with pretty much any camera, but we can see why Google would want to highlight these camera features to sell the latest device. Hit the break for the other two commercials.

Switching to Android from iPhone? Eric Schmidt has a few tips for you
We’ve talked a ton about switching from iPhone to Android in the past, and there are a vast amount of online resources which exist to help you do just that. But it’s not often that we get to hear the tips from the former CEO (now executive chairman) of Google give us his own tips and tricks. I’m talking about Eric Schmidt, the man who got Google through some of its biggest years before handing the reigns back to the co-founders.
Schmidt took to Google+ to post the wordy guide. He goes over the most important things, like transferring your contacts, setting up your email, and setting up two-step authorization on your Google account for added security. It’s not going to solve all of your problems or answer all of your questions, but this guide is a good starting point to get your feet wet with the world of Android. Head to the source link to check it out for yourself.
