'Better Call Saul': New Details Emerge on the 'Breaking Bad' Spinoff
Better Call Saul producer Peter Gould (who also happened to create the Saul Goodman character) has a great interview in Yahoo TV, where he talks about putting together after his work on Breaking Bad. According to Gould, the spinoff isn’t going to be as broadly comedic as once intended:
More about Amc, Entertainment, Tv, Video, and Breaking Bad“Frankly, I’ve been hanging around in courtrooms lately, and it’s not as broad as I thought originally. He dresses in a ridiculous way, he’s got billboards, he’s got ridiculous ads, but he is a shrewd customer. If you listen, most of his advice to Walt over the years in the show was really good advice. If Walt had listened to Saul a little bit more, I think the show would have gone very differently and probably would not have been as exciting.” Read more...

Instagram invites media to “share a moment” on Dec. 12
Instagram lives online, so it strikes us as odd when we see such a company sending physical press invites to an event. This is exactly what has happened as multiple media outlets start receiving physical, wooden invitations to an event in New York City this coming December 12th.
The invitation is pretty much an Instagram photo printed on a wooden canvas, inviting the media to “share a moment” with the team. Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom will be there to show us all the goodies. There is a huge question to be answered, though: what is this event all about?
There are recent rumors of Instagram working on private messaging, but that is yet to be seen and nothing really points towards that.
Can we take something from the fact press is getting physical invitations in the form of images printed in a wooden canvas? I would it would be very cool if we could purchase some of those with our very own images. After all, it seems all media outlets are getting different images.
Nothing is for sure now, though. We will have to wait until December 12 to find out!

HTC announces financing program for HTC One
Purchasing an off-contract is becoming much more popular. Especially with devices like the Nexus 5 and Moto G offering good specs for low prices. A new trend seems to be on the rise, though. Motorola has recently started financing off-contract phones and now HTC is jumping in the bandwagon.
The Taiwanese manufacturer is offering a financing program for the $600, 32 GB HTC One. Assuming your credit passes the test, you will be able to what could be the best phone of the year home. All for $0 down and as low as $25 monthly payments (no interests).
We assume these terms may change if your credit is not as great as they would like it to be. This is probably why they say “as low”. Fortiva Loans is in charge of the borrowing department. Regardless, it’s nice to see more manufacturers doing this.
You can get the HTC One for less from other retailers, at this point, but having a device in easy payments is always great. You can go apply for HTC One financing at HTC’s website. You should hurry, the current deal is only available until December 29, 2013. You might have to put some money as a down payment after that.
Also, this is the GSM version. So it will be good for GSM carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile. Who is signing up?!

49ers Send Letter Reminding Fans When To Cheer
The 49ers host the Seahawks this Sunday in a massive matchup not only of the NFC West's best teams, but of two of the more competitive fan bases in football. It'll be a "red-out," but in addition to color coordination, the Niners took the time to email fans with gentle reminders to be on time, cheer, stuff like that.
Mexico City Smoke-Out Only Second Strangest Delay In Spurs History
The NBA's "Global Games" are off to a hilarious start. I mean, it wasn't funny for the 22,000 Mexico City fans who didn't get a chance to watch the Spurs and Timberwolves thanks to the arena filling up with smoke, but images like Tony Parker masking up and rushing into a burning building are pretty damn entertaining for those of us up here.

Hackers Compromise 2 Million Facebook, Twitter and Gmail Accounts
More than 2 million accounts have been compromised from popular sites such as Google, Yahoo, Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn after malware captured login credentials from users worldwide, according to a new report.
According to web security firm Trustwave, hackers have stolen login usernames and passwords across various sites in the past month with the help of Pony malware, a bit different than a typical breach.

"Although these are accounts for online services such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Google, this is not the result of any weakness in those companies networks," said Abby Ross, a spokesperson for Trustwave. "Individual users had the malware installed on their machines and had their passwords stolenPony steals passwords that are stored on the infected users' computers as well as by capturing them when they are used to log into web services." The Washington Post is reporting new details on the NSA's massive phone-record collection efforts, with leaked documents that indicate the program caches five billion call records each day, tracking the locations of hundreds of millions of mobile devices. Previous Snowden leaks had detailed the NSA's extensive access to consumer phone records, but it was unclear before now whether that metadata included the location of each phone. The latest documents confirm that it does, as part of a much larger location-tracking effort.
Google Search for Android can now find search results inside (some) apps already installed on your device
Announced earlier today, the Google Search app for Android is about to get a whole lot smarter. No, we’re not talking about the usual Google Now cards that come in every update, search results not pulled, not only from the web, but inside apps as well. This makes it easier than ever to find exactly what you’re looking for.
For instance, when searching for a movie, normally Search would pull up showtimes, or even its listing on IMDB.com. Not too useful when you already have the IMDB app already installed on your device, right? Now, when signed into your Google account, the Search app will know exactly what apps are installed on your device and show results found inside them with a simple “Open in app” link. Clicking the link will take you directly to the specific search query inside the app (like IMDB for instance), making Google Search a universal tool for searching the web for anything using your Android device. Currently, the new search results are only available in English, and for Android devices 2.3+. Also, at launch, only 13 apps support the new search feature:
- AllTrails
- Allthecooks
- Beautylish
- Etsy
- Expedia
- Flixster
- Healthtap
- IMDb
- Moviefone
- Newegg
- OpenTable
- Trulia
- Wikipedia
Of course, relevant apps found on the Google Play Store will also be displayed when searching (ones that haven’t been installed on your device), a feature we saw introduced in Google Search back in 2010. The best part about these new (and old) Search features is that they can also be found in the Chrome and Android browsers by visiting the Google homepage — no Search app needed. As more developers make their apps compatible with this new feature, they better it will get. In the meantime, you can update the Google Search app via the link below.

'Jeopardy' Lays Down the Law on 'GIF' Pronunciation
What is Trebek lays down the law on how to pronounce GIF, Alex?
That's what happened on Tuesday night's episode of Jeopardy, as host Alex Trebek asked contestants the question of the year: "The inventor of this image format said the OED wrongly has two pronunciations of it — the right one is with a soft 'G'."

Steven M. Bellovin, a computer science professor at Columbia, uncovered a startling fact. The launch code for all U.S. Minuteman nuclear missiles for 20 years used the same code: 00000000. Bellovin discovered this after finding a 2004 paper by Dr. Bruce G. Blair, a former Air Force officer who manned Minuteman silos.
The codes — known as Permissive Action Links (PALs) — came to be following the 1963-1964 Cyprus crisis, when NATO countries Turkey and Greece wanted to nuke each other. The PALs were meant to give only the president of the United States the power to use such weapons. Apparently, this security feature was largely symbolic. For two decades, multiple presidents carried around a briefcase with the allegedly constantly changing codes, though it may as well have been filled with shredded newspaper Read more...

Kid's Santa Letter With the Amazon Link Was a Hoax
Remember the adorable letter that a child wrote to Santa this year? It wasn't actually from a kid at all, nor was it from this year; it was the work of comedian writer and actor Zack Poitras
The letter caught the Internet's attention for being so 2013. The "child" refers to an Amazon link when telling Santa what he wants under the tree this year

It was picked up on several news sites, including Mashable, that assumed the letter was the work of a kid, in part due to the sloppy crayon handwriting. But the letter was a satirical creation by Poitras in 2011 for the blog The Inclusive Read more...

This Artist Builds On His Kids' Sketches
Normally parents are the ones who provide coloring books for their kids, but artist Fred Giovannitti's children are the ones providing something for him to color in.
Whenever Giovannitti makes a business trip, his kids — six-year-old Sofia and eight-year-old Freddi — provide him with going-away drawings. On one trip he realized he could color in the drawings to surprise his kids with when he returned.
"When I came home, [Sofia] was delighted to see what I did with the artwork and we started a tradition of collaboration ever since with both of my children," he explained Read more...
