Chicagoans probably didn't need much convincing this week to consider taking a vacation in a warmer climate, but Arizona Tourism pretty much beat them over the head with the message.
The tourism office unveiled a billboard featuring a giant sunbathing, bare-footed woman. Just beneath the image of her feet there was a giant flip-flop that appeared to be crushing two cars
The video below shows how that feat was achieved:
The timing for such an effort was good; Chicago and the entire Midwest was subject to a rare Polar Vortex last week that prompted the temperature to plunge to minus 16 degrees Fahrenheit at O'Hare Airport on Monday morning. In Phoenix, the high was 70 Read more...

Target said 70 million customers were affected by a data breach at its stores between Nov. 27 and Dec. 15, an increase from a previous estimate of 40 million customers.
The 70 million customers may be separate from the initial 40 million customers, the company said, though there may be some overlap.
The latest figure came during Target's ongoing forensic probe, which revealed that "certain guest information — separate from the payment card data previously disclosed — was taken during the data breach," according to a press release from the company. Target says the theft is not a new breach. The stolen information includes names, mailing addresses, phone numbers or email addresses for those 70 million or so customers. Read more...

Don't Walk Offstage — The Internet Will Eat You Alive
Pity poor Michael Bay: These are four words I never thought I'd hear myself say. But the more you see his gaffe watched 'round the world (now a Taiwanese animation and a Sarah Silverman one-liner), the harder it is not to feel sorry for the explosion-happy director
For one thing, you have to admire Bay's chutzpah. He thought it would be no big deal to go up on stage at CES before representatives of the entire world's media without learning his lines. What could go wrong? He's a big-time big shot. He's done press conferences. There's a teleprompter.

The brief appearance of a T-Mobile banner discovered by Droid Life appears to confirm that T-Mobile will cover an entire family's Early Termination Fee (ETF) if they switch to its network. It's long been rumored that T-Mobile's eccentric CEO John Legere would use his company's CES press conference to announce a plan that will make it easy to switch from rival carriers. Given the company's ongoing spat with AT&T, many assumed the offer would be limited in some way to would-be switchers with AT&T lines, but the banner ad, if genuine, dispels that theory.

Samsung's ridiculously loud Giga speaker is kind of awesome
Two years ago Samsung introduced the GIGA, a speaker system designed to be used for impromptu parties, and now it's back with one you can roll with you down the street. The GIGA MX-HS8500, which is being shown off at CES, builds off the old model by adding wheels on the bottom and controls to the top. That includes a DJ fader that can adjust any music that's playing using a big circular knob, and an array of buttons to turn on different EQs like "football mode" and a big bass boost.
Samsung’s bike protoype can dock and charge your Galaxy device [VIDEO]
It’s the first day of CES and Samsung’s booth was packed from the windows to the wall with looky-loos trying to get their mits all over Samsung’s upcoming wares. We just gave you guys a hands-on with the Samsung Galaxy Pro tablets, but for the more active types, we were able to get a short glimpse at Korean manufacturer’s upcoming bicycles. Yes, folks — bikes… sorta.
In a partnership with Trek Bikes, Samsung looks to make bicycling just a little more smartphone friendly utilizing built-in handlebar docks for their popular line of Galaxy devices. Shown off in 2 prototype bicycles, Trek was able to design one bike with, not only a dock for the Samsung Galaxy Gear, but even pairs up with the wearable to track the rider’s vitals, speed, and various other biking data.
The other bicycle on display featured a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 dock and a special charger in the front wheel to keep your device juice up while you ride. Pretty genius when you think about it, especially for those going on long bike rides while streaming music, using GPS, Maps, etc..
Still in the concept stages, Samsung mentioned these weren’t even the final design, let alone commit to any kind of release date. This was merely a sneak peek at the future of biking, brought to you by none other than Samsung. Stay tuned for more CES 2014 coverage as it unfolds!
