TIL there is a modern-day Rosetta Stone that intends to be an archive of human languages called the Rosetta disk. While it is only 3 inches in diameter, it has over 1,500 languages etched onto its surface. It has over 13,000 pages of information which need to be magnified 1000 times to be read.

A strange nightmare I had when I was a child [Possibly NSFW/NSFL]
Ok, so this dream happened when I was like 5-8 years old. I don't know what it means, but if any of you feel up to deciphering it I'd be much obliged. Keep in mind that I didn't know what sex was or anything like that at the time - lived a very sheltered childhood.
In the dream, I'm in my parent's room, specifically on their bed. In real life, I would love to lay on it and look up at the fan to watch it spin, but in the dream the fan wasn't spinning. In fact, there seemed to be no power to the house - no lights were on or anything. It was daytime, though, so light shined through the windows.
The sky was grey - totally overcast - no outline of a cloud shape, just an endless grey expanse. And out of that grey sky, they came.
When I was a kid, I thought they were tadpoles - white tadpoles with long tails. What stood out were their faces - oddly, and terrifyingly, enough, it was none other than E.T.'s face on the head of every one. But these ETs weren't friendly - they had small, sharp, pointy teeth and as they came down from the sky they devoured everything they could.
My dad ran outside with a gun to fight them off, but they ate him. I could hear my older sister and mother screaming in terror as they too were being ripped to shreds. Then, they came down the hallway and into my parents' room, flying around me baring their teeth. They lunged at me and I woke up screaming.
Later in life, I found out that they were not tadpoles, but were in fact, sperm. Giant, sentient sperm with a feral ET's face for a head. To this day I don't know how I dreamed of something I was never exposed to or knew about, what it means and why it was so fucked up.
I have had other equally bizarre and terrifying childhood nightmares, but this one remains unanswered...and I'm hoping someone here could help me possibly make sense of it. Thanks!

Os cálculos de certos modelos de (hihihihihihi) Quantum-Loop Gravity mostram que a massa colapsada para próximo do Raio de Schwarzschild iriam "quicar de volta" e explodir num buraco branco. Na verdade, algumas das "supernovas" e pulsos de raios gama e o caralho aquático que vemos podem ser exatamente isso, e boa parte dos raios cósmicos de altíssima energia poderiam vir daí também.
Interessantemente, o nosso próprio universo poderia ser um "bounce" desses.

Those stories in the 1950s(?) with genetically engineered cat- and dog-based people?

Does anyone have some clues? I remember reading these stories in old SF magazines, I think from the 1950s. But I don't recall who wrote them, titles, or much else. I just recall that the various animal-people had names that distinguished them from real people, many if not all walked upright, and e.g. the cats still had fur and other catlike attributes. All these not-humans were in the role of servants and other underlings, but were well accepted and IIRC most types were reasonably intelligent.

LuciocObviamente, o povo do r/conspiracy enlouqueceu completamente com o avião derrubado. A thread do topo discute como existe um monte de números 7 envolvendo o acidente - e o 7 seria o número "perfeito" para os Illluminati...
No meio da loucura toda, porém, uma teoria me deixou encafifado: ao mesmo tempo que esse MH17 estava voando o Putin estava indo de avião de Varsóvia para Moscou, e em algum momento a rota dos dois aviões pode até ter cruzado. Não é impossível que a intenção fosse derrubar o avião do Putin, e acertaram esse por engano...

Once Upon a Time | Georgina Haig aparece como Elsa em fotos de bastidores
LuciocA propósito a Elsa é uma rainha, ela foi coroada no filme. =)
Desconfio que depois vão dar uma CGzada nesse vestido, é igualzinho o que a Elsa sintetiza com gelo mas não tem cara de uma coisa realmente feita de gelo igual no desenho.
(Provavelmente muita gente ficou encafifada sobre *como* uma roupa de gelo pode ser flexível. Minha girinada nerd é a de que a Elsa materializou um negócio tipo aquela malha de aço usada em armaduras medievais, feita de milhões de aneizinhos encaixados, só que no caso de gelo.)
Saíram algumas fotos dos bastidores da quarta temporada de Once Upon a Time que mostram Georgina Haig como a princeza Elsa de Frozen.
