The Hungry Games: Catching Fur!

This is an adorable parody of something that should be kind of sickening.  The Hunger Games was pretty entertaining, but it didn’t quite translate the absolute horror of the entire situation as well as the books did.  I think Battle Royale did a much better job making you feel the absurd terror of kids forced to kill each other.  But I did enjoy the first film.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire opens this weekend!

Of all the Disney movie villains, Maleficent has to rank among the top.  She’s absolutely terrifying.  But until now, we haven’t heard her side of the story.  That all changes next May when Angelina Jolie brushes off her Lara Croft accent and steps into the role in a live action retelling of Sleeping Beauty called Maleficent.

Seeing her in costume, it’s uncanny.  She’s absolutely perfect for the role!  She looks like she stepped right out of animation cell. I also appreciate that they didn’t go all titacular with the costume design as designers often do to sexify their evil sorceresses.  Casting Elle Fanning as Aurora is pretty inspired and I think the two will play very well off of each other.  I think they’ll be able to elevate this from just a CG spectacle.

I can’t believe I’m actually looking forward to a non-Pixar Disney film.

Do looks still matter as much as they used to, or have people changed? For years, we’ve heard about how so many people have come to the realization that true love prevails, regardless of someone’s wealth, status, or appearance. Putting this to the test is Jason from Simple Pickup, who donned a fat suit and confidently set out to ask random girls for their digits.

Did his confidence and personality win them over, or did his looks turn them off before he even opened his mouth?

The social experiment is interesting and its results undoubtedly say a lot about people’s perceptions nowadays. If you think about it, the results aren’t all that surprising. You can check the clip out above to see for yourself.

If you’re a tourist in Japan, then you have to try riding their bullet trains at least once during your visit. They’re definitely fast, but some might argue that they don’t offer the most comfortable of seats on board. That might be true–until the Seven Stars train came along. It’s a train that’s decked out in steampunk-style exteriors on the outside and luxurious comfort on the inside.

For example, Deluxe Suite A features a spacious 226-square meter room and a five-foot panoramic window that offers a gorgeous view of Kyushu from the rear end of the train. Every one of the cabins is covered in intricate wood decorations and high paneled ceilings.

Seven Star also has a lounge car where passengers can unwind and socialize with others who are on board. The train began operations last October 15th and it’s already booked through until June. Seven Stars is offering a special promo rate of $5,750 per night for a four-day, three-night trip on board. It’s still pretty steep, but it gets steeper next July when the rates go back to their original prices.
