Ladies and gentlemen, meet Norm, the pug who’s making waves on Instagram. Jeremy Veach stages downright hilarious scenes with his traveling companion.

Swirl n’ Spin Art Fun
My recent acquisition of a Melissa & Doug Swirl n’ Spin Art Toy played a big role in our weekend fun. Hiding from the relentless rain we stayed inside and ‘kept busy’ with everything except laundry!!!.

I can’t tell you how much Molly enjoyed this, seeing her paint drops, blobs, stripes and swishes take on a life of their own when she pulled the little side lever and the page started spinning. No two pieces of paper were alike, her bright little eyes and mouth would open with an ‘ooooh’ everytime the spinning stopped and she saw the finished design.
It’s such a clever bit of kit, no batteries, suction cups on the base keep it locked in position on the table and off the walls :) and it is a cinch to clean after each art attack – two minutes under the kitchen tap with some washup liquid and it’s ready to go again…

When laid out together after drying the paper tiles looked very Kandinsky concentric circles like, they’re gorgeous.
We’re off now to dream up crafts and activities to make with our spin art….. stay tuned :)
You can get the Swirl n’ Spin Art Toy on the official Melissa & Doug site for just $9.99, on Amazon for £9.75 or in good craft and bookshops (I picked up in my local bookshop, O’Mahony’s)

Consider that you can see less than 1% of the electromagnetic spectrum and hear less than 1% of the acoustic spectrum. As you read this, you are traveling at 220 km/sec across the galaxy. 90% of the cells in your body carry their own microbial DNA and are not ‘you’. The atoms in your body are 99.9999999999999999% empty space and none of them are the ones you were born with, but they all originated in the belly of a star. Human beings have 46 chromosomes, 2 less than the common potato.
The existence of the rainbow depends on the conical photoreceptors in your eyes; to animals without cones, the rainbow does not exist. So you don’t just look at a rainbow, you create it. This is pretty amazing, especially considering that all the beautiful colors you see represent less than 1% of the electromagnetic spectrum.

Spirit of Despair #9
It's comics like this that make it really awkward that people I know in real life also read this thing. I don't really know what I'm trying to say with these sad ghost comics, and it strikes me that they come across as preachy, which I dislike intensely. I guess I just like writing about relatable, negative situations. I hope you guys don't mind.
