When the organizers of the Breastfeeding Mama Talk support group came across a sign telling moms to cover themselves while nursing, they had a brilliant response.
Breastfeeding Mama Talk invited other parents to share their own responses with the hashtag #ThisIsHowWeCoverBFMT. Their hilariously spot-on photos did not disappoint. From blankets to shirts to Darth Vader masks, these breastfeeding moms showed that they know how to “cover” in style.”
“We did not start the Black liberation movement, but we are honored to contribute…Our fight is grounded in the pursuit of dignity and sanctity of all Black lives…We are not the new Civil Rights Movement; however, we stand on the shoulders of giants who paved the way for Black dignity.”
white person: *does/says something racist* person of color: that was racist. stop. white person: BUT HOW IS THAT RACIST? person of color: *gives an explanation. a long one, with citations and shit. or a short one. or doesn’t give it at all, because it’s not exactly their job to constantly lecture people.* white person: …BUT HOW IS THAT RACIST?!
when someone talks to your parent/caregiver about how hard it must be to have an autistic child, and all you can think is that it’s not as hard as having an allistic parent
it would be so cool if my parent was a giant cell phone
Black Mirror
Story time: Two days ago a woman ran into my local Starbucks, in tears, holding up a smartphone and saying, “Can someone please help me? My father is dying!” One of the baristas was able to help her get a video chat working in time for her to say goodbye to her father while she could see his face, and he could see hers. This technology, that people are constantly shitting on, that people keep saying is disconnecting us, made that possible. I don’t know who she was, but I felt connected to her then. I think we all did, everyone who was there. I’m sad for her loss, and I’m also glad that the technology exists that let her see her dad one more time, even though she couldn’t physically go to him.
So if people could stop complaining about communication technology, which actually, surprise, facilitatescommunication, that would be great.
I used to really worry that medications would harm my creativity and it’s part of why I resisted taking them. It hasn’t. If anything it’s allowed me to be more focused and able to complete things. My imagination hasn’t changed just because I’m on anti-depressants.
a lot of my family didnt want me to start medications because they thought it would impact my ability to create, and I believed them.
Now im getting better and better with my art because i dont have to fight through the brainfog or the constant panic attacks and can dedicate my energy to my work.
Antidepressents didnt take my emotions away, they made them easier to handle.
also Van Gogh was literally in an asylum receiving mental health treatment when he painted ‘Starry Night’. It was one of the most stable & productive periods of his life, despite the fact that wasn’t hugely effective treatment, because they didn’t really have modern understandings of what things work on mental illness. Like, you know. Medication.
I wanted to share a few photos of my General Leia from C2E2 last weekend!
There were a ton of great Star Wars costumes and so many people complimented me on being one of the first General Leia’s they’d seen. It was a lot of fun responding to shouts of “GENERAL!!!” :)
I’m hoping to rework this so I can be approved by the Rebel Legion in the very near future. Thank you to everyone who complimented the General!
…So instead of just bedding and satisfying a thunderstorm, this time I’m marrying one. Could be worse - a while back, I had a picture of a kingfisher, which is even more awkward to explain to a judge.
Argel Tal and Cyrene….
Well, that’d be swell. My PC desktops are always the same (i.e. Emps), but my phone I regularly swap with my mood. Right now that means I’d be married to NotGreg!Robert Patrick. I don’t mind this at all.
This is my Phone Background. I have no problem with this.
I’m marrying a soft grunge fleur-de-lis from Florence.
I don’t know what to make of that.
Well, mine’s the CItadel, from Mass Effect. So, like. Am I marrying EVERYONE on it?
I… I think I’ll take the cheap out and say I’m officiating a bunch of weddings there!
Woo! Poly marriage with Pan-Pan, Grizz and Ice Bear!
Rick Scott: *gets yelled at in a coffee shop for being a bad governor*
Rick Scott: *uses money given to his PAC and his power as governor of the state of Florida to release an official minute-long attack add against the random woman who yelled at him*
Rick Scott: this was an appropriate response :)
