Jeff Koons may be forgiven for feeling like the Rodney Dangerfield of the contemporary art world—critical respect still eludes him—but he can take plenty of solace in his stature amongst collectors. This week, Koons became the auction world’s most celebrated living artist when Balloon Dog (Orange), a mammoth polished stainless steel sculpture created in the 1990s—and now a bona fide pop cultural icon—sold for a staggering $58.4 million at Christie’s New York.

One, in a suite of 5 dog sculptures fabricated over a 7-year period from 1994-2000, Balloon Dog (Orange) is a signature Koons work, a whimsical technological marvel, which manages to uncannily replicate the weightless luster of Mylar balloons by leveraging weighty, high chromium stainless steel. An anonymous (for now, at least) buyer made Balloon Dog (Orange) the most expensive work of art by a living artist ever sold at auction—ensuring that Jeff Koons, once the laughing stock of the art establishment, gets the satisfying last laugh.

É comum acreditar que decorar bem o banheiro não é importante. Ou mesmo que não vale a pena dar muita atenção a um espaço tão reduzido. Mas se pararmos para pensar por um momento, o banheiro é o cômodo mais presente no nosso dia a dia. Estamos sempre passando por ali. Sendo assim, a ideia de transformar o ambiente em um canto agradável parece bastante lógica. Para ajudar nossos leitores a transformarem seus banheiros e lavabos em locais alegres e interessantes, listamos abaixo dez ótimos projetos. Dê uma olhada!

1. Como se fosse de Lego

Acredite ou não, este lavabo é composto por 5.500 cubos de MDF laqueados ou revestidos com folha natural de imbuia. As peças, todas encaixadas manualmente, percorrem as paredes e o teto. Essa ideia maluca foi a resposta encontrada pelo designer de interiores Leo Di Caprio à demanda inusitada de seus clientes: eles queriam que o revestimento usado no lavabo pudesse ser reaproveitado em um endereço futuro.

2. O clássico preto e branco

Andrée Putman lançou-se ao design apenas aos 53 anos de idade, em 1978. Depois de se separar, a francesa abriu sua própria empresa, a Écart. Algum tempo depois, o reconhecimento veio em cheio, em 1984, quando ela reformulou o interior do Morgans Hotel, em Nova York. Foi ali que a parisiense cunhou o tema de tabuleiro de xadrez (quadrados em preto e branco), que se tornaria sua assinatura.

3. Rosa é unissex, por que não?

Com tamanha personalidade, este banheiro só poderia pertencer à morada de alguém exótico. Neste apartamento de 260 m², localizado no Flamengo, vivem o italiano Marco Zanini, sua esposa e a filha pequena. Ele é um dos fundadores do Memphis, movimento cultural de vanguarda que atuou de 1981 a 1987 e, assim, não tem medo de ousar nas cores. Por isso, desafia um antigo paradigma de que rosa é para meninas. Zanini, categórico, diz, “não, não é”.

4. Banheiro de grife, ou melhor, grifes

Eis um banheiro modelo. Literalmente. Este cômodo é o sonho dos profissionais do Ludovica + Roberto Palomba tornado realidade. Trata-se de um protótipo que visa apresentar a sua mais recente linha de louças e acessórios para banheiro, produzida pelas mega empresas Kartell e Laufen. O equilíbrio desta coleção é alcançado por meio de uma mistura fina: a geometria rígida da cerâmica é suavizada pela alegria colorida dos elementos de plástico.

5. Estampa sobre estampa

O banheiro do hotel Villa des Alyscamps, em Arles, na França, grita o nome de India Mahdavi. A mistura para lá de corajosa de cores e padrões, por si só, sugere de quem é a autoria do projeto. “Não gosto de escalas de duas cores, pois dão um efeito muito estático. Parto sempre de três ou quatro matizes, que equilibro em masculino-feminino, sempre com uma tonalidade predominante. Quando se tem apenas três cores num ambiente, o resultado é muito previsível. Quando se têm cinco ou seis, aí então dá para começar a brincar”, diz a designer.

6. Flores e continuidade

Em Londres, Christine d’Ornano, executiva da marca de cosméticos Sisley e herdeira da família que criou a Lancôme, vive com o marido, o financista libanês Marzouk Al-Bader. Ela mesma decorou seu lar. Por ali não restou nenhum cantinho vazio de cores, nem o banheiro da suíte, cujas paredes são cobertas por tecidos florais dos anos 1970. O mesmo acabamento foi empregado no quarto do casal, dando unidade.

7. O glamour presente no amarelo

Já que estamos aqui falando de cores, não há escapatória. Um nome se repete: o de India Mahdavi. Ela é a autora da decoração deste banheiro, que difere totalmente do banheiro repleto de estampas apresentado acima. Eis uma profissional de qualidade: capaz de projetos diversos. Neste ambiente, a designer, de forma simples, criou uma decoração original. Ela apenas elegeu um amarelo forte para aplicar em uma parede, onde também há textura.

8. Pequeno, mas vermelho

A pequena casa de hóspedes, projetada pelo escritório Poteet Architects, tem dimensões enxutas: sua área não ultrapassa os 30 m². Trata-se de um container que foi convertido em casa. Funcional e confortável, a morada conta com ar-condicionado, chuveiro e um banheiro seco – de compostagem. Sem medo de diminuir o espaço já restrito, os arquitetos lançaram um vermelho forte no ambiente. A escolha errada muitas vezes pode ser a certa.

9. Paredes de ouro

O requinte deste lavabo se deve a João Mansur, que escolheu para as paredes uma pintura especial feita com folhas de ouro, realizada pela dupla Adriana Pedrosa e Carlota Gasparian. “Quanto mais o tempo passa, melhor o resultado. O revestimento vai mudando de cor e ganhando um lindo aspecto envelhecido”, conta João, que equilibrou o tom marcante com bancada e piso de mármore branco. O grande espelho ajuda a ampliar o espaço.

10. Inspiração local

O estilo rústico que caracteriza as construções da Andaluzia, no sul da Espanha, norteou a ambientação desta residência em Carmona, cidade localizada naquela região. O designer Jaime Parladé segmentou as paredes em três faixas, coloridas com cimento pigmentado. O piso de ladrilhos hidráulicos tem estampa geométrica em preto, cinza e branco. Surge com isso um ótimo contraste com o verde e o vermelho.

Basso Shelf System is a minimalist design created by designer Thomas Feichtner, who was born in Vitória, Brazil. The shelving unit is currently being manufactured by Eternit, and is constructed of fibre cement. After attending school in Düsseldorf, Germany, he graduated from the University of Art and Industrial Design in Linz, Austria, completing his studies in industrial design. He then went on to found his own design office.

Feichtner is comfortable working with a multitude of materials, including Eternit’s readjusted fibre cement that is considered one of the most environmentally friendly and sustainable materials. Other attributes of the material include it being a light weight, rigid structural composition with excellent performance for weather resistance.

Eternit has a history of manufacturing fibrous cement furniture conceived by renowned designers such as Le Corbusier, Willy Guhl, Nicolas Le Moigne, and Rainer Mutsch. The shelves can be stacked on top of each other, and are fixed together by simple round pegs. Basso can be used both indoors or outdoors, and can be used for books, wine, or even firewood.

This shot of Survivor host Jeff Probst getting naked on “Two and a Half Men” (via Today) takes me back to the time I was frantically searching for his peen shots on the interwebs back in the early noughties. Even the slightest show of skin gave me the tingles back then. I’m not sure if he has found the fountain of youth during one of his Survivor travels, but HOLY FUCKING HELL this man is 52. Yes, fifty fucking two and your great grandchildren will be watching him hosting Survivor: Neptune in 2101 looking exactly the fucking same. This is a video of Danish archer Lars Anderson demonstrating the ancient archery techniques he's been practicing. The key to a lot of them is holding spare arrows in your hand instead of a quiver. Doing so, Lhars can shoot 10 arrows in 4.9 seconds, shoot 11 arrows before the first hits the ground, shoot through chainmail, shoot three arrows in less than a second while falling, and shoot three disks while running backwards in 1.12 seconds. I wish I was better at archery. I think the bow might actually be my favorite weapon if you don't count laser blasters or psychological warfare. Keep going for the worthwhile video, but feel free to skip around. You can't turn off the robotic narration though. There's also a shorter one after of Lars hitting targets from the back of a motorcycle.

More often than not, my leaving the house involves me getting to my car and realizing that I’ve left my phone, my sunglasses, or some other important item in my house.  I have to get back out of my car, …

Só quem já perdeu a oportunidade de ir a um show da sua banda favorita sabe como é essa dor. Principalmente se o grupo de que você mais gosta for estrangeiro, daqueles que só vêm ao Brasil uma vez a cada dois ou três anos. Enivaldo Andrade, o Russo, conhece bem a sensação. Aos 38 anos, o porteiro de um colégio de Botafogo, no Rio de Janeiro, já perdeu pelo menos 10 apresentações dos americanos do Red Hot Chili Peppers no Brasil nos últimos 20 anos.

Mas este ano foi diferente. Neste sábado (9), a banda toca no Rio de Janeiro , e Enivaldo vai finalmente ver os músicos ao vivo pela primeira vez, cortesia de três alunos do colégio onde o carioca trabalha.

Sem que o porteiro soubesse, os garotos organizaram uma campanha entre todos os alunos do colégio para levantar fundos para comprar a entrada para o show. “Arrecadamos os R$ 240 do ingresso e chegamos a negar dinheiro oferecido pelos alunos por já ter a quantia necessária”, conta Pedro em entrevista ao iG. As doações geralmente ficavam entre R$ 10 e R$ 15. “A ideia inicial não tinha nenhum tipo de objetivo material”, garante.

Depois de já ter alcançado o objetivo, o trio foi entregar o ticket ao porteiro, e gravou tudo. O vídeo foi colocado na internet há duas semanas e já passou das 20 mil exibições.

Para Russo, o gesto dos alunos foi um exemplo. “Foi uma prova de amor ao próximo. Eles deixam algo bem claro: se você não pode fazer tudo, faça tudo que puder”, acredita. Ele acha que a sua ótima relação com os alunos foi o que motivou os garotos a abraçar a campanha. “É uma relação muito agradável. Eles param para conversar comigo, perguntam como estou, e eu faço o mesmo. Também conversamos sobre várias bandas”, conta.
