PH one of worst places to be a mother, says annual report of London-based charity organization

ABS-CBNNews.com reports that according to the London-based charity Save the Children's annual "State of the World's Mothers" report, "the Philippines is among the worst places in Southeast Asia to be a mother." The report, which was released on Tuesday, May 7, revealed that "the Philippines was at No. 106, tied with Indonesia, ahead only of Timor Leste (No. 110), Laos (No. 121) and Cambodia (No. 130)."

The report "compared 176 countries in terms of maternal health, child mortality, education and levels of women's income and political status." The report noted: "Singapore, at No. 15, was the best place for mothers in Asia, according to the report, with Malaysia at No. 70, Thailand at No. 80, and Vietnam at No. 86." The worst place in the world to be a mother was the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Meanwhile, the following are the top 10 best places to be a mom:

1. Finland

2. Sweden

3. Norway

4. Iceland

5. Netherlands

6. Denmark

7. Spain

8. Belgium

9. Germany

10. Australia
