Androidos appot kap az Internet.org, a Facebook kezdeményezése. Az egyelőre csak Zambiában elérhető alkalmazással adatforgalmi korlát nélkül lesznek elérhetők alapvető online szolgáltatások, mint a Google keresés, a Wikipedia és természetesen a Facebook.

Az LG G3 is megkapta a kínai másolóipar pecsétjét, elkészült ugyanis a Wico C1-es modell, ami a dél-koreaiak csúcsmodelljét hivatott lemásolni, bár az indigó papír alá becsúszhatott egy LG G2  és egy Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is.

A képek alapján elmondható, hogy csak a gombok elhelyezkedését sikerült másolni a G3-ról, mert ezek a hátlapra kerültek, igaz, hogy jobban hasonlít így is az LG G2 gombjaira a Wico C1 felhozatala, mint az eredetileg másolandó darabra.

Az már érdekesebb kérdés, hogy az LG G3 másolata egy Galaxy Note 3-ra emlékeztető oldalsó keretet és egy szintén innen koppintott bőrhatású műanyag hátlapot kapott, amely megkoronázza a giccsparádét.

A készülék 5,5”-os kijelzőt kapott, hasonlóan az LG G3-hoz, azonban a képek szerint a keret mérete közel sem olyan vékony, mint az eredeti modellnél. Figyelemre méltó a kijelző felbontásának különbsége is, ami negyed akkora, mint a G3-é, azaz az eredeti 2560×1440 pixel helyett csak 1280×720 pixel. A Wico kétféle kivitelben adta ki a C1-et. Az alap modell négymagos MediaTek MT6582-t tartalmaz 1 GB RAM-mal és 8 GB háttértárral. Van viszont egy erősebb verzió is, amely már a nyolcmagos MT6592-t tartalmazza 2 GB RAM-mal és 16 GB háttértárral. Mind a két készülék 5 és 13 megapixeles kamerákat kapott.

A GizChina.com információ szerint a gyártó már fejleszti az LG G3 másolatának LTE képes verzióját is.

Az  elmúlt évben számos okostelefon jelent meg, amely az ár/érték arányával akart hódítani és sikeres is lett, ilyen volt a Motorola Moto G, a OnePlus One, vagy éppen a Google Nexus 5. Azonban ezek jellemzően vagy csúcsmodellek, vagy erősebb középkategóriás modellek, de a belépőszintet a gyártók kevébé ostomolták. Egyerül a Motorola neve mellé biggyeszthető egy elismerő pecsét a Moto E modellért, amely talán a legjobb belépőszintű okostelefon, igaz, hogy nem is annyira olcsó, hogy bárki megengedje magának.

Indiából azonban a Karbonn bejelentette az A50S modellt, amely egy nagyjából 10 ezer forintnak megfelelő okostelefon lett. Nyilván ezért nagy dolgokat nem kell várni, hasonló dolgokat tud, mint a többi gyártó belépőszintű telefonjai, éppen csak olcsóbban.

A Karbonn A50S modell kétmagos 1,2 GHz-es MediaTek processzort kapott, 256 MB RAM-mal és 512 MB beépített háttértárral rendelkezik, utóbbi viszont microSD kártyával bővíthető. A készülék 3,5”-os kijelzőt kapott 320×480 pixel felbontással, Android 4.2.2 Jelly bean operációs rendszert kapott, valamint egy VGA előlapi és egy 2 megapixeles hátlapi kamerát is találunk rajta.

A készülék nem tartalmaz sem GPS-t, sem NFC-t, van viszont két fontos tulajdonsága, ami miatt mégis sikeres lehet. Az egyik, hogy Dual SIM képes, a másik pedig az, hogy az ára nagyjából 26 brit fontnak megfelelő lesz, átszámítva ez alig több, mint 10 ezer forint. A készülék India mellett Ausztráliában, Dél-Afrikában és Új-Zélandon jelenik meg elsőnek, de más nemzetközi piacokon is elérhetővá válhat pár hónapon belül.

Korábban már láthattunk egy Onda tabletet, amely 48 ezer pontot ért el az AnTutu tesztben az új AllWinner A80T típusú processzorral, most azonban egy újabb készülék tűnt fel a gyártótól, amely erre is rádobott és a kép szerint 55 527 pontot szerzett a tesztben.

Az Onda V989 egy igazán erős hardverrel rendelkező készülék, ez látszik isa fenti eredményen. A készülék 9,7”-os 2048×1536 pixeles IPS kijelzőt kapott, hasonló előlappal, mint amilyen az Apple iPad Air is rendelkezik. A készülékház alatt az AllWinner A80-as Octa-Core processzor található meg, magonkénti 2 GHz-es órajellel, valamint a PowerVR G6230-as GPU-val. Ezen kívül 2 GB DDR3 memóriát és 32 GB beépített háttértárat kapunk. A kínai tablet olyan extrákat is tartalmaz,mint a microHDMI, vagy éppen az új microUSB 3.0 csatlakozó, amely gyorsabb adatátvitelt biztosít.

A videón is emgörökített teszt alapján egyre jobban várható az új AllWinner gépek piacra kerülése, ugyanis meglehetősen szép eredményeket mutatott fel eddig a tablet a benchmark pontokat tekintve.

While I talked about this in the launch article, the SHIELD Tablet is very much the culmination of lessons learned from 2013. While the Tegra Note 7 was a decent tablet, it had to eke out a profit through hardware sales against competition that was willing to sell their tablets with no profit on hardware. While the SHIELD portable was a good portable gaming device, it was far too specialized to be anything but a gaming device. Without an established gaming ecosystem, NVIDIA struggled against established competitors.

As a result, NVIDIA is the first to launch a serious gaming tablet running Android. While gaming tablets have been done before, they’ve been few and far between. It’s always been technically possible to take a high end tablet and make it usable for gaming, but for the most part these attempts are marred by either the need for root or an application that requires extensive work on the part of the user to create proper control profiles for each game. In addition, the SoC in the tablet is often underequipped for intensive 3D gaming.

That’s where the SHIELD tablet comes in. With Tegra K1, a dedicated controller, 2x2 WiFi, and a huge amount of custom software, there’s definitely a lot of ground to cover. Once again, while the SHIELD tablet is a gaming device, it must also be a good tablet. To that end, NVIDIA has tried to differentiate this tablet with DirectStylus 2 and dual front facing speakers/bass reflex ports. To find out how this device does, read on for the full review.

Looks like LG just decided to turn it all the way up to eleven. The latest television to come from the South Korean manufacturer is the LG 105UC9, boasting a spec sheet that is scarcely believable.

Some Nvidia researchers have found a way to create very high fidelity images by stacking two LCDs with offset pixel layers in order to create a higher resolution image than what the displays themselves are capable of. Because of their methodology, they are able to multiply the pixels in the panels to achieve the higher image quality rather than adding the pixels together. This is accomplished through Simultaneous Multiplicative Superposition, which can and will be explained through their whitepaper or the video below. Nvidia’s research team proceeded to combine these two cascaded displays together into a single display using their own custom built 3D printed enclosure and lenses so that it could be used theoretically as head mounted display (HMD). But they also built a projector with this as well, so the applications are not just for HMDs.

The main purpose of this research presented at SIGGRAPH 2014, going down next month in Vancouver, Canada, is the fact that Nvidia’s researchers are trying to find ways to better improve the resolution and pixel density of images on head mounted displays (HMDs) like the Oculus Rift without trying to create new display panels. Currently, the Oculus Rift is capable of 1080P resolution, but the problem is that at that distance the pixels are still visible, especially because of the lenses inside of the Rift. As such, higher resolution is needed to truly create a fully immersive experience.

These cascaded displays, as indicated by the video above and in the white paper, are off-the-shelf hardware that anyone could buy and theoretically create themselves. This does not require new hardware, but rather new techniques and software in utilizing that hardware and how it may work in order achieve a better result. The overlay methods that they’ve created and employed in this headset/display are what really set this apart from everything else because nobody else really employs two LCDs atop one another. It really is an interesting and novel design and it will be interesting to see how it works in person at SIGGRAPH.

The cascaded displays could also theoretically be used outside of head mounted displays as well in order to help deliver better image quality for certain applications, but fundamentally will require more GPU horsepower which may make mobile applications fairly difficult. Even so, cascaded displays are another way that we could bring high fidelity images to places where 4K and beyond resolution is currently impossible. We’ve also got some samples below so you can see the differences for yourself.

About a month back, a reddit user 'TweektheGeek' was woken up by the smell of his Galaxy S4 (not related to this recent incident), which overheated and started melting while the phone was charging overnight. In this case, the person was using original Samsung parts, including the battery and the charger. After contacting Samsung about it, the reddit user was promised a replacement phone and a box to send the damaged phone to the company. However, the user only received a box and never received his new phone despite several attempts to contact the company, which later started ignoring him. As he was telling his story on reddit, an HTC Product Manager replied to his post and offered him a brand new HTC One M8 as a replacement for his old Galaxy S4 for no extra charge. The only thing he asked for in return is that if Samsung were to ship him his replacement phone some time in the future, the user should donate the replacement phone to charity or auction it off and donate the funds to a charitable organization. This is an excellent gesture from HTC and it's not an uncommon thing for the company, which has in the past offered a free device as a gesture of goodwill to other people under various circumstances. It's unlikely that Samsung will stay quiet after all this but unfortunately for them, they have already lost a customer, and probably a few others who may have read this story. Source •...
